Preseason rankings are what they are but a couple of comments; No teams on the list West of Elizabethtown seems a bit unusal and Montgomery County would be hard to keep out of the top 20.

It is true. I witnessed this. Seems to me he was just mad because of bad play calling by the SW staff. Why do you go for it on fourth down the first three or four posessions of the game from near mid field? Made the finger incident look even worse IMO. Dont matter how intense he is he should lose his job for that.

Maybe summer ball had something to do with Anderson being ranked 8th. They did go 6-0 aganist competition ranked in the top 14 on this list. Preseason polls are just that though.

Anderson/Ryle- Anderson a little shaky early got on track in second quarter. Anderson's Makenzie Cann scored 27 points along with 5 assists and 5 boards including 5-6 from three. Both teams of course played alot of people/combinations but i thought both teams were impressive.

Anderson County will scrimage Ryle on November 11 i believe. Should be a good match up between two of the better teams in their respective regions. I think it will be played at Anderson County.

Well you might be right sumrmakesplyrs. Someone 2 through 5 could knock Gayheart out then McMurtrey could take someone else's spot thereby not directly taking Gayheart's spot. But seems to me like you should wait a few games into the season before counting anyone out or in.

McMurtrey must of had quite a good summer for sumrmakesplyrs to think she will knock Gayheart out of the top 5.

Concerning past posts about Gayheart and Whitfield. I did not have a chance to see Gayheart play this summer but i did see Whitfield play and she was absloutely a beast. Though very good last year she seemed much imporved during the summer but sometimes you just have to get into the right slots to shine.

To project anyone as "hands down" the best player seems a bit biased to me but thats why we have so much fun as fans. The best player can and should make her team alot better and sometimes that means giving up a little in the stat dept. Therefore i choose to give the nod to the player on the best team. Who cares how good a player you have if your not at Diddle. Having watched quite a bit of summer ball I saw alot of improvment from some girls in this region. The girls that have been the best or was the best last year may very well prove to be the best this year but i do say they better not rest too easily.

As an Anderson fan it does my heart good to hear that we underachieved losing by one in the regional finals and i know the girls were disappointed with the loss. I like that attitude too. Hopefully they get their "swag" on this year. Thats all thats missing now! I think the 8th will pan out as being one of the top regions this year. With several teams capable of winning the region again. I also think whoever wins the 8th will have a chance of making some noise in Diddle as well.

Good points. I do not see a downside either unless coaches make it "mandatory". I wholeheartledy agree with letting kids in the gym if they want to be there. I also think it is good for the kids that may not get to play aau basketball. Also if the coaches do make it mandatory they run the risk of burning the players out before tounament time. That is a long time to practice before the first games start.

How does everyone feel about the new regulations allowing practices to start earlier this season?

Both Ky Premier top teams played awesome basketball this past weekend. If you want to watch girls high school basketball at its best i suggest you get to Louisville to watch play tomorrow through satruday i think. Also, I have watched these girls play many games this summer and if there is a better player than Sydney Moss in the country I have not seen her but she has alot of talented, unselfish teamates who are well coached, make each other better and just flat out fun to watch.

Manual should be one of, if not the team to beat statewide next year. Along with Marion County they appear to me to be seperated from the field.

Absloutely no offense taken. I agree that summer is where teams and players can decide to get better or not. But i would not try to guess who could win a regional title at this point. Hard enough for me to predict the outcome of the regional after the district tournaments are played. Girls basketball is alot about matchups and whoever is playing well at tourney time. In watching several teams play this past weekend i think the 8th region will be represented this season.

Retropop I did not and will not say anything about region being "locked" up. I didn't ride the pep bus to the game either. I will not be so foolish. Simply stated facts about the games and my observation of the team. Maybe you read way too much into these post dawg. Its June!

Anderson County wins Varsity AAU state championship this weekend in Lexington. Looked to be physically more mature and played impressive basketball especially in spurts. Anderson beat Casey Co., Montgomery Co, Rowan Co, Sacred Heart, Madison Central and Clay County. Congrats Lady Bearcats.

Anderson County wins the varsity high school AAU state championship this weekend and was quite impressive beating Casey Co, Montgomery Co, Rowan Co, Sacred Heart, Madison Central and Clay Co, averaging double digits victory margians. However Clay Co. took them to overtime in the finals. The Anderson girls, while still young start three sophomores, a freshman and one senior but looked to have matured a bit since last season. Congrats Lady Bearcats.

Congratulations to both teams. As a neutrual fan i got more than my money's worth watching this game. Though the girls may not feel so now there were no losers in this game. This is the stuff that makes athletes grow up, willing to put it all out there, take a risk and lay it on the line. Hang in there Manual players....just don't beat my team next year. Congrats Rock and thanks to both teams for the fun of just watching the game.

Rockcastle didn't struggle as i heard a couple of fans say, Simply a great game both teams played well just a very exciting game all the way. As a neutural fan i got my money'w worth. Hammond played a great game but i can assure you she is not the only girl on this team that play. Make no mistake about that.

A realatively east schedule, now a favorable draw for the tournament. Will be interesting to see how Rock will respond when they are down two heading down the stretch for the one time this season. How will they respond? Will you homers be nervous or still talking smack?

May be because they didn't play until today.
