It was after a PAT when John went up 39-7. A player from each side. No bench clearing. No brawl. Two good kids from each squad that lost their cool.

Been singing their praises all year. They are legit. Until you've seen them; it's hard to grasp.

That I'm not sure to be honest in '14. I know the year before he took over they went 2-8. He went three wins, one, three. I'm guessing a low cycle for a couple years, then a crap load of young kids in his program this year that were seeing significant playing time (apparently had 100+ in his program 9-12). 3-7, coulda-shoulda-woulda been 4-6.

Agreed. I've never quite understood why the golden number of years in college is four years for a coach when they can go and get WHO THEY WANT to play for them, yet high schools (ones that are far from power house programs at that) pull the plug after 2-3 bad seasons? Never made a lot of sense to me. Did they let him go or did he resign/force to resign?

On a serious note. I'm proud to see Evan Merrick and his boys at Marshall County get some momentum this year. Deserved.

From 1988-2012 7 State Titles (Class 2A '89, '91, '92, '94. Class 1A '00, '01, '03) 3 State Runner-Ups (Class 2A '98. Class 1A '04, '06) Danville previously had won three state titles in '64, '84 & '87. He took a corvette and turned it into a Maserati. He also won at Anderson County before going to Danville. I think he won Anderson's first region championship in '87. Career record 326-106 in 32 years as a HSHFB in Kentucky. He currently is 5th on the All-Time wins list in Kentucky & of that current Top 10 list, he is still tied for the most state titles (Mike Glaser won 7 at St.X). Things didn't start out pretty for him in his early years as he was the HFC at Calloway County, and went through some tough times. He ended up doing pretty well. :thumb: You could say I'm one of his biggest fans. :lol2:

(To go along with the side note) The odds might be in their favor. WKU has FIU this weekend, home vs North Texas (much improved), but go on the road to Marshall (Marshall is far from usual Marshall this year). LA Tech has one loss in conference play, and obviously won the head to head vs WKU....but, they still have to go to Southern Miss on Thanksgiving weekend. Scenario's 1)Both WKU & LA Tech win out? Conference Championship at LA Tech. 2) WKU wins out, LA Tech falls? WKU is the host, again.

I think my man @Ram was joining in on my fun sarcasm (aka Tounge in Cheek). :thumb: But, yes. To your point; anybody that actually does feel this way isn't very smart. People who complain about a style of play over and over usually don't really know anything about it. They THINK they do, but they don't. They just think what's popular in fitting their bill/agenda, which is usually made up of others that don't know much (if anything) about it.

And you all are actually able to get kids excited about playing football, all while winning? Amazing.

I know, how dare people run offenses these days that use tight ends, use three running backs and the qb takes most of his snaps under center & only throw it 8-15 times a game on average. Those people still running the wing t, wishbone, flexbone, etc. are just a bunch of ignorant neanderthals.

You said it. When he came to Anderson in 2005 from Campbellsville University, he more or less was allowed to assemble his entire staff, and almost all of them were teachers that he was able to get into the system. His staff then (and, some still remain) was mostly all made up of assistant coaches he had at Campbellsville University and/or former players that he coached there.

@jlow said it, but this is not what's happening. Completely disregard any of those negative & false rumors.

Keep an eye on the Lincoln (4)/Whitley County (1) game. Lincoln County is 1-9, but they have lost five games by a TD or less. Two of those close losses came to district champions (East Jess 4A & Madison Southern 5A). They have two common opponents in South Laurel and North Laurel. Both beat North Laurel, and Lincoln lost to south by yet another TD or less game 42-35 & Whitley beat South 34-25.

In '94 they played Danville in the region finals. I can't remember their '95 season exactly, '96 they played Breathitt County in the semi's I believe (or maybe they lost to Madison Southern in the region finals, '97 they lost to Bourbon in the region finals, '98 they lost to LexCath in the 2nd round. I'm guessing maybe '93 in his 2nd year when they went 3-8 in Chuck's 2nd year.

Correct. One of the draws for him to go to Lebanon was family. His oldest (and, I believe only) daughter/her family lived in or close to Lebanon.
