It seems like the common theme here is speed; SK is listing 1 RB, 1 QB, 1 LB and 1 line man as there speed. St. X doesn't really name one or two players, they talk about team speed... It is for real, I watched it first hand last Friday night. Not only are they fast but they have a very sound game plan and make very few mistakes. I think that Simpson is probably the best RB in the state but I would be surprised if he is able to run free like he has all season. I will say that if he get past the third level, no one will be able to catch him; the problem is getting past the first, second and third level. By saying all of this, I don't mean any disrespect to SK, they have a very nice program and I'm sure a great group of kids. I definitely would love to see them play the game of their lives and bring back a win to NKY but I think that St. X is just too strong this year.

If it is anything like the Ryle/St. X thread last week, you will be pleasantly surprised how much class the St. X posters show. The only time something negative was said, it came from someone outside of those two schools. Other than the L that was handed to us last night, traveling to Louisville was nothing but a very nice experience. Hope SK has the same experience as we had, minus the L. As far as the game goes... If St. X plays the near flawless game that they played last night, it could be a long night for SK. They are very good at forcing mistakes and then capitalizing on those mistakes. And regarding the team speed argument... Ryle has seen HHS, SK and now St. X. IMO, St. X is head and shoulders above the other two with speed and execution. Good Luck to both teams! I hope both teams bring their "A game" so that there is no doubt who the better team is after the game.

I think the whole conversation here is to aid the coaches by helping them look at tendencies of opposing upcoming teams and help the players possibly move on to the next level. Wins and losses are not the only important stats, if they were then good HS athletes on a struggling team may never get a look to go play at the next level(just one example). You have taken this conversation in a whole different direction with "bragging rights" about one's kids.

You started talking about 40 times and now switched to 100m, there is a very big difference. You are right, in the 100 these guys were faster but in the 40 not so. As far as Franke and Burtraw, good athletes but not as fast as the others. Like you, I also know more than you might think. We can agree that both teams show similar speed. Overall team speed goes to 09. It is going to be a great game either way!

The info that you have is incorrect; the following information is from someone very close to the program. Boggs and Elliott- fastest @ 4.5s to 4.6 Carney, Fugate and Eubank- in the mid 4.6s The difference in 4.5 and 4.6 is huge and don't think anyone runs a true 4.5. That being said, the overall team speed this year is much faster than the 06 team but the 06 team was bigger.

The fact of the matter is that someone is always going to benefit and someone is always going to lose. Being from NKY, I don't like the switch to BG but anyone who lives in one of the corners of the state is going to have to travel a greater distance a majority of the time. I would love to see it stay in Louisville or move to Lex (provided they get turf someday- doubtful) but it is the best we have right now.

Most of the kids now are putting together their own "highlight reel" to either send out to individual colleges or post on sights that colleges subscribe to. You are right about attending these types of camps, it never hurts to get as many looks as possible.

I know that our school, and many like it, have someone in the box durinig the game, on a computer, keeping stats for every game; they then hook up to a printer and print out every quarter to take down to the coaches on the sidelines. If someone wants access to the stats, most likely, they are available with a request from the staff. I think that time is the real issue, there doesn't seem to be enough of it in the day. You are right, the coaches are there for the kids otherwise they wouldn't be, in many cases volunteering their time; there are very few coaches that have paid positions. A great number of coaches have "regular" jobs, put in long hours on the field, meetings and film study and most importantly, a family that they see very little of during the season. Trying to fit all of that in, is a huge a challenge for them but in most cases do the best that they can. So, I guess I would say that if anyone wants to post the stats on here or another site that everyone has access to, you could most likely call your respective coaching staff and request a hard copy of the stats and post them on the site. I'm sure that most if not all schools would give you access.

Not sure if there are any out there or not but you can take the film to a "Mom and Pop" video/camera shop and they will put them on DVDs for you. I know that our kids get copies for film study the week of the game and previous game film if they want a copy; I would guess that it would be the same at most schools. I would be happy to dig into it further and find out what our staff's stance is on it but I can't imagine it would be a problem.

"Typical" Is when a very small few of the HHS faithful get upset when anything negative is said about them; I think that Henry521 gets what I am saying. I think it is laughable that you take these as personal attacks and not what it is. Like I said, it was meant a joke and nothing more, just trying to lighten things up. As far as the game against St. X, our kids are going to go down and give everything they have for 48min. Why in the world you would be on board with a Louisville school instead of backing any NKY school is beyond me. I for one think that you have a very nice program and hope you do well in the playoffs.

Rain and wind, totally nasty night to watch a game. Oh yea, the great parking accomodations at HHS. Of course you can always park across the street at the bank, if you belong to the HHS boosters or whatever it is; that night the lot was half empty and the "guard" was still standing fast at his post.- Take it easy.... it was just a joke :lol:

So now you are going from fact to speculation??? I can speculate that if there are two NKY teams in the finals, the attendance would be just as great... no way to really know.

Of course the attendance figures speak differently; two Louisville schools playing a championship game in Louisville...no travel required.

The number that player is wearing, has to be 50s, 60s or 70s # to play on the interior line. We had a game earlier in the year where our tight end (#80something) had to switch #s in the middle of the game when he was moved to the interior line. This sounds like a bad scenario all the way around but the refs should have caught the # situation before the play even started.

Thoughts and prayers from Union for a quick recovery. I have been on the field with our kids before when this has happened; there is nothing more scary than when one of your kids goes down with a head or neck injury.

Back to the top of the thread; it started out giving the score and what a fun game to watch because of the amount of scoring. It was definitely entertaining for the fan, but for a coach... not so much. How it has evolved into this and gotten off track so much, I have no idea. It has turned into another thread with nothing to do with the topic of the score of the game and turned into an opinion on how you don't feel freshmen should play JV. Again, not sure how it has gotten to this point, maybe another thread should be started addressing this specifically. Both Ryle and Highlands are fine schools with great programs, it will be exciting to watch these young men as they grow and mature into varsity level players.

Totally agree, as long as the feeder teams are mirroring the offense and defense that the High School is running. Not that it has to be exactly the same but if the kids are getting a good foundation and understanding of what the Varsity team is running, they are way ahead of the curve. In Boone County we don't have middle school football, which I feel hurts kids getting ready to go to the high school level. The problem that we have is a bit different, our pee-wee league, although pretty solid, feeds into four high schools and the kids are not necessarily drafted on to a pee-wee team that may feed into the high school that they will attend. I am very close to one of the county schools and would love to see us have a middle school football program. Sounds like you have a good program and wish you the best of luck!
