Let's also keep things in perspective. He is a high school junior that has put up over 600 passing yards in two weeks against good competition. I would guess that his accuracy will continue to improve as the season unfolds. That is in itself pretty scary.

I would agree with your assessment to this point but would also add that I don't think anyone looks great after week 2. I would say that most coaches want their teams to start playing great a little later when it counts most. I know Ryle is still in the building stage and are playing a lot of new starters and feeling out different rotations. Most teams have a ways to go to before the word great can be applied.

I would agree that CCH is more physical but Lex Cath has more weapons with speed. Lex Cath has 3 kids that would equal McGinness and I think McGinness is a great player. They are both different styles so it is kind of hard to compare them. I think Lex Cath is better at this point although I have said in another thread that if CCH can just stay healthy through next week, they will come around and be hard to handle in 5A.

Thanks but we are scary already with Jake Long at TE, Bryce Ashley at receiver(by the way he was #1 in the state in receiving after week1), OHara and Pogliano at the other receiver, and Beagle in the slot. Running backs are good in a rotation. Ryle kids are unselfish and share the wealth.

Not a fan of either but CCH is definitely a formidable opponent this season.

My apologies.. You are right about South Kenton playing instead of Summit View. I don't think that it is comparing apples to oranges though. Some of our players still play in the Boone County pee wee league just like Simon. The point was that all the kids that play on our team legitimately will go to Ryle. We do not have a mixture of kids that will feed other schools besides Ryle. I should have worded better. From what I have heard and I could be wrong, Summit View is not one of the teams that was in favor of not playing Union.

They should treat him very well. I thought he did a great job on Friday. His kids played with passion and he used the athletes he had very well, putting them in a position to succeed. He is going to do some very good things soon, maybe even this year if they stay healthy through the early season schedule. They got beat Friday by a better team with a little more talent.

Union Raiders 7th and 8th are Middle School teams. They play as an independent in the Ky State Middle School Association. They have tried to play the Middle School teams from Kenton County for years, but some of their coaches/administrators will not play Union. Completely short sided on their part since it would help all teams involved and would be good for the kids. The reason always given is that Union has a couple of kids from Ockermann in their program, which is true, but all kids on the team will go to Ryle. Funny, since Boone is closed enrollment and Kenton County is open and they use that as an excuse. At least Summit View disregarded this stupidity and played Union in the Battle of Union this year. It was a good game between two good programs and helped both teams.

Not counting out Highlands. I am sure they will improve and they are a great program. I just don't think their skill players match up this year compared to years past.

Disagree 100% right now. We saw Highlands skill athletes first hand quite a bit this summer. I know 7x7's do not mean much but I would argue that CCH should be ranked above Highlands as well. If they stay healthy, which is a big if considering that they already lost a key player and the fact that their schedule is brutal over the next two weeks, I think CCH will beat Highlands. Just my opinion but HHS does not have an answer for #4 or a couple other of the CCH athletes.

First off, CCH is much more athletic that I thought they would be. They are going to be a factor in the 5A race. McGinness is the real deal. Their QB played very well and they have some other great athletes on the field. Prayers from all of the Ryle folks for Darlington. Great player. Tanner Morgan made some incredible plays last night and he did a lot of damage with his feet. Cov Cath had no answer for Bryce Ashley at WR. He had 7 catches for 167 yards and a TD while missing a couple of series with cramps. Grant Beagle also had a nice game with over 100 yards receiving and a score. Aaron Ohara had some key catches as well. Great game overall for week one. I don't know what the coaches look at when they vote but there are a couple of teams from Boone Co and one from Independence that should be all sitting on top of the polls next week.

Might have mis-spoke. I am comparing them as high school players. Aaron OHara is a very good comparison build wise to Blake when you look at them as high school players. Tanner much thicker than Blake was at this stage of high school. I did see Blake recently. One of my favorites. My eyes are just fine but thanks for the comment.

You may have confused Tanner and Aaron OHara. Aaron is built a lot like Blake Bir.

I have seen both Tanner and Blake recently as well as know them both very well. Tanner is bigger than Blake, probably 10-15 lbs. I don't know Blakes exact height and I am not saying Tanner is 6'3 but he is definitely taller than 6'0.

You are not looking at the official roster. Ryle has 84 kids on their roster not that roster size means anything.

At a 6A school it could be detrimental. Many of kids have the talent but 8th graders probably should not move up to take the place of a freshman it numbers are good. If the younger levels are for development, then 8th graders would sometimes move up and not allow a borderline player to continue and potentially get better to help your program later. This happened in the scenario that you mentioned. Probably hurt the program in the long run. It used to be that if dads wanted their kids to play up, then the program let them. It is not the case any longer. Coaches in the Ryle program would rather 8th graders stay in their grade.

Maybe, maybe not. There are four or five players on the Union Raiders 8th grade that could easily play freshman ball. They choose to stay with their group of friends and enjoy the season. Sometimes pushing kids along too quickly is not the right move. Certainly not knocking Huddleston for playing up. To each his own and he is a good player.

A few of the best Middle School players in NKY are on the 8th grade for the Union Raiders. Kyle England is probably the best player in the area. Morgan Rabe is an excellent player as well. There are a few other kids on that team that would rank as some of the best at their positions in NKY.

Straight up two platoon right now. Ryle has many of very good skill players. They are not extremely big anywhere but have a lot of team speed.

The youth teams play in the NKYFL (up through 6th grade). The 7th and 8th play in the Kentucky Middle School league. They do not play many local schools except for Highlands. They play more teams from down state and Ohio.

I was there all day and got to see Harrison and Brossart up close. Harrison did very well. They were organized, ran a solid passing attack, and their kids hustled and made some plays. Brossart had fairly good numbers, which had to be encouraging and they also showed a lot of hustle for their coaching staff. I am not sure where they ended up as far as placement but that is not really why you do these things.
