  1. thanks! I see where regions 10/12 winner plays the winner of the 13/15 winner. Are these considered semi-state sectional rounds? A few years ago we played a best 2 out of 3 series in the All A State Sectionals, before advancing to the state tournament. Also, just wondering who hosts the first round 10 or 12 and is it a 2/3 series? Couldn't seem to locate info on rounds 1...
  2. Are the All-A brackets out...just wondering what regions are paired up in the first rounds?
  3. Catholic jumped out to an early 8-0 lead before the Jumpers bats come alive. Junior Jarred Price gets the win for Somerset. Price give up only 3hits and 1 run over 5 innings. Somerset's offense was led by Morehead State signee Taylor Sears with 2 hits, 2 runs scored and 2 stolen bases, Senior Erik Manning with a 3-run HR and an RBI double by Senior David VanHook.
  4. Prayers and thoughts are with this young man. Our son is going through a similar injury and as a parent it just crushes you to see your child injured. I would trade places in a heart beat. We are all staying very positive because there has been lots of good that has come out of this. Life throws curve balls, not a matter of if, but when. Best wishes Logan!
  5. Somerset at Bryan Station today at 12:30
  6. Maybe a little bias, but Somerset has several players that can flat hit the baseball. Seniors- Taylor Sears, Erik Manning, JP Henderlight, Ben Purcell, Colby Hall, David VanHook, and Juniors- Jarred Price, Storm Wilson & Andy Manning. All nine of the guys can hit for power and average.
  7. I agree, I'm not too sure the region will end in the way the Coaches voted. This poll needs some work, I know one program that has at least 5-6 coaches that vote and several other schools that don't vote at all. Somerset returns 8 starters from last years team that won the most games in the schools history last season. Mercer returns one of the top pitchers in the region as well as 2 of the areas top hitters. Paul always has Danville ready to compete at the end of the year. My sleeper is Pulaski County, don't overlook them this year, they will beat you.
  8. Congrats Zach!! It's been fun watching you play over the years...from the Jets to Dartmouth, AWESOME!!
  9. Logan Starnes- Southwestern High School (Catcher, Pitcher, 3rd) Logan was an impact player as a freshman...gonna be fun to watch over the next few years.

  11. Congratulations to Isaac and his entire family. He's such a gifted athlete and even better person. He is the 5th player to sign Division 1 baseball off his Mustangs 17U summer team. Isaac Smith (Bradley), Jacob Bodner (Xavier) Taylor Sears (Morehead State) Clay Cinnamon and Matthew Honchell (Miami of Ohio)
  12. "Also, there are some rumors circulating that Coach Lucas may not be coming back to the Briar Patch next year. You now how rumors are I don't believe it to be true" One word TRENCHMASTER - "CLASSLESS"
  13. I would like to add one more point here, the play they're talking about here involved my son and another Somerset player...the "late hit" flag was thrown by an official right in front of our fans and the coaches started yelling "he needs to be thrown out of the game"... and then he went on and on and on...but in fact, "the late hit" was actually a SHS player hitting his own teammate (my son) in the head, in celebratation of the stopped run. The Garrard Co. player would have scored if not for the run down by #14 and #2. I had just started videoing my son on that play and have a video clip of the entire play if the GHS staff would like to see it... I know this play was brought up again a little later in the game with them about SHS playing dirty. For the record, Garrard County did an AWESOME job hosting the game. Everyone was very friendly and professional!! It made for a great high school football setting. Just wish we could say the same about the officiating crew. LOL!! Best of luck the rest of the season Garrard Co. GO JUMPERS!!
  14. AWESOME VIDEO!! I agree mcpapa, I thought the same thing about wanting to pad'em up!!
  15. Our son suffered a concussion in week 3 last season. His high school coach took every precaution that there be zero contact for a full week once the headaches were gone. Once he said "coach my headaches are gone" he actually had to sit 2 weeks (3 weeks total). My advice to anyone that has a child that plays a contact sport or has a child that has suffered a concussion, study, study, study, learn as much as possible about concussions and apply it. BTW- Thanks coach for looking out for our son's best interest!!
  16. Danville’s D really surprised me last week against the Jumpers, they were as fast, and as strong, as advertised up front and at stopping the run. I agree with everyone, SW will need to spread their offence out to win this game. I really think the difference though in this game will come down to special teams, the team that wins this battle, probably wins the game?? My 2 cents…if the Warriors can control their passing game and keep the turnovers down, they pull it out at home 14-12
  17. Russell and Pulaski are coming off tough losses a week ago...this could be a turning point for both programs. Thoughts?
  18. Russell County travels to Somerset on Friday night. Thoughts?
  19. Over the weekend in the 18U Frankfort "Capital City Classic" we had a runner on second base only, the pitcher after coming set, raises his leg, our runner breaks for 3rd base and the pitcher (with foot still on rubber) throws over to third. The 3rd baseman is standing there waiting on our runner to get there and tags him out. It was my understanding that a pitcher is not allowed to throw to an unoccupied base, and is this case 3rd base was unoccupied. The umpire claims that this rule went into effect a couple years ago that allowed the pitcher to do this, only if he was attempting to make a play. Anyone want to chime in on this one??? If this is the case, we need to train our right-handed pitchers to raise the leg, hold to see if the runner from second breaks and if he does throw to third base, if not throw to the plate?????

  21. I totally agree with your theory. Our son's summer team won 2 state titles last year and his high school football team finished 14-1 and state runner-up. I can guarantee you that he would trade those 2 state titles for the high school title in a heartbeat. Not taking anything away from the summer team experience (GREAT GREAT times) but you just can't compare the two.
