Apparently middle school now includes 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders. Talking about kids athletic prowess at this age is cracking me up.

Been there, done that and I've seen quite a few 2nd, 3rd, 4th.....grade "all stars" that parents and coaches think will be studs in years to come. More often than not, it never pans out - in rare cases it holds true, but they normally get passed up physically etc... I'm not thinking about "typical" 2nd and 3rd graders whatever that means, I'm talking about 7-9 year old "kids". I certainly hope no coach would allow a kid or team to score 100 points at that age - and I have my doubts it could be done (based on experience). I'll offer you this unsolicted piece of advice - enjoy watching your 2nd grade son play ball. It goes by way too fast and I'd like to have some of those innocent moments back that only youth can provide and I may not have appreciated at that time. And by the way, my kids played AAU/competitive ball from 3rd grade on into high school.

What exactly is an "established" 3rd grade team? I think Shannon Minor would find that statement hilarious.

I think there might be 60 plus signed up for the whole program - Freshmen, JV, and Varsity.

Could be tough sledding for the Colonels this year. I think history shows that Krumps will lean a lot more heavily on his seniors as the keys to success rather than a young player with no varsity experience.

It's my understanding that this award was voted on by the coaches. My information may be wrong but if it's correct you can bet that "politics" had little to do with the outcome. If you know Krumps, "politics" aren't necessarily something he cares to engage in. Why does it always have to be about the person who didn't get an award - can't you just congratulate the young man who won and move on?

Great job by everyone on here who has defended Krumps and his impact on all of the young men who he has taught in the classroom and coached on the field. I'm certain that amongst his peers, he is widely respected and admired. The biggest misconception about CCH (mostly in the minds of the parents) is that they are better than everyone else. It's simply not true. There is a lot of talent within the region and sometimes you just run into a better team on a particular day. It's funny how everyone bashes Krumps for bunting all the time but if you read the thread on the Highlands v. Conner game, Highlands is being praised and rightfully so for getting their bunts down and making the other team field the ball. I wasn't at the Dixie v CCH game but I heard that Dixie tried a couple of squeeze attempts (not sure if that's a fact) but no one is getting on Coach Max's case nor should they. BM - I'm certain there are a lot of coaches who would love to coach at CCH, but they better be careful what they wish for - that would be a tough act to follow and I'm not sure there are many who are up to the task and can match Krump's sustained level of excellence and committment to the kids. It's easy to second guess those who dare to lead, it's quite another to stand in their shoes. Get 'em next year Krumps and maybe some day, I'll have a son lucky enough to play for you!

Maybe I just enjoy reading the results and don't view all the posts made here as "substantive". I'm not sure why you posting 10,186 times in 7 years makes you an authority over me or my opinions. We could continue the vitriol and angry diatribe but that won't accomplish anything on a forum about kids where adults take their opinions too seriously. Let's just let it go and move on. I never questioned your unbridled enthusiasm nor your allegiance to Cov Cath and their programs, I only questioned the need for 3 different stat sheets on every game. I simply find it excessive, especially the inclusion of those players who didn't see any action in the game - but I'm sure that's easier than editing every game. Obviously you and some others disagree with my opinion, but that's ok with me - it's what makes the world go round. As I stated earlier, I enjoy reading the game results from all games to see who won and lost, and I like the game updates and recaps. Guess I'll just scroll past them as Louie and NKU suggested (I can live with that). However, methinks you are a little too sensitive too differing opinions/thoughts.

Seriously, is it really necessary to post three different stat sheets for every game? I like reading the updates on all games about who won/loss, who played well, etc... but these stats are over the top and seem quite excessive for high school sports. If I was from Cov Cath, I'm not sure I would want everyone knowing stats anyway. Makes it fairly easy for the opposition to gather information unsolicited.

I think this thread has gotten completely off topic and should be put to rest. I thought it was a topic about the freshman teams and players to watch not about how those who play on those teams are chosen

My kids don't pitch so we have not used Chris Hook, but have been to Brandon Berger numerous times for hitting. Like RB, I'm not going to go into specifics but I will say that Brandon's approach and lessons are top notch and he only teaches what the individual can handle. Start with the basic fundamentals from grip, stance, hand position, etc... and go from there to more advanced drills. He will use a tee, soft toss, and live throwing (great accuracy) as part of his lesson. My kids have benefitted greatly and are asking to go back.

He won't win any popularity contest, but around 1979-1981 time frame, Don Turney was a dominant player. Went on to play at Marshall and was a late round draft pick in the NBA draft.

If my math is correct, in the last 25 years it's worked out to 18 district titles, 13 regional finals, 9 regional titles and a state championship. I'd say it's worked out. Know anyone in NKY who's done better?
