Very nice! It was done right with a bonfire ? . I truly like everything about this. Talks stay in the program and can be emotional. I will share my Son had a very serious injury that impacted him greatly in his 8th and 9th grade year. He has come along way to have a prominent role this year. What warms the heart ❤️ is that a few young Sophomores immediately reached out and took his message to ?. Truth with hard work and determination and not seeing the field early you can do something special. More importantly the brotherhood and doing it with and because of your teammates will be memories of a lifetime!

I understand that but complaint should be with allocated budget. Very few are not going on bus 1. So let me ask you this everybody gets a medal? In all honesty it is those boys that are seeing action on Saturday and then some. Hoover would not have happened under the old regime and those young ones will have plenty of opportunities.

Wow! Not a mention about the game from a HHS perspective. I state I am a firm believer in Sphire and know the itinerary hour by hour. Discipline and bedtime not an issue. There is method behind his thought process. Those who did not make the trip will enjoy in do time. Let’s not go back to everybody needs represented unity. These posts are comical. Birds will be tested whether they arrive by chariot or in the 11th hour. Focus will be on the field and BG and that is no small task.

That is correct! The bulk of kids are going down Friday. The younger kids, injured and new to the program are coming down Saturday. I am sure it is all about the cost; nothing more.

In 2009, The Birds upset a Nationally ranked Cincinnati St X 12-7. Fantastic night at the stadium remember Bardo and Collinsworth like yesterday. This came after both Louisville teams StX and Trinity lost to them convincingly! Any team that holds Male to two TD in a scrimmage has my attention. This is going to be a difficult ask for a young team and with a giant and reigning champ. I am going with my Birds 12-7 in honor of that game. In any event I hope it is competitive and we learn. As Bob Sphire states it is a game with many seasons. If nothing else a great test out of the gate!

I was surprised! A few folks just wanted to cast stones. Again the quality of the opponent allowed coaches to see where and what work needs to be done. Here is a thought Male was just that good. We could have played an average team one by 4 touchdowns and felt great. Coach Sphire gets it! How about a 4 hour film session.

6A is going through Male. I can understand why they are traveling to Louisiana. Brown could not be blocked and why so many offers. They had real nice LB as well. On offense #7 was a beast and they had a tall fast wideout. They blocked very well! Great team. They will not be challenged by many! Bluebirds get to work. Film will not be fun but you now understand what it takes. Special teams can’t have kids bounce and escape containment. You can’t miss tackles. Pressure to help young secondary out. A lot to learn. Two takes. One the Birds will be fine, too many naysayers in stands same old stuff. Are you kidding me this group is going to surprise folks, I am confident of that!! In the end Male is special especially this group led by a ton of returners. Good luck moving forward and I was impressed with the Male team. Business like!

Agreed! It is a very strong class. I see some depth for sure. See Senior leaders that are all about team and the youngsters have bought in. They are going to surprise some folks. We just need to stay clear of the injury bug.

Agreed! That is a brutal pool should be interesting. I also am of the camp great for timing and building those competitive juices but a true pocket passer and a couple of speedsters dictate results. Kids enjoy it but the trenches dictate real football. An example a large TE with a head of steam will not go down with a one hand touch. Speed and skills display best

Let’s move on. Good time was had in Hoover and the boys are looking forward to EKU. A couple of injuries holding a few out; but all are minor. I think the program has looked good. Plenty of work to do but the classes are meshing well. It is nice to see Dunn take a leadership role in the secondary. Sure glad he is back in action. Benke and Harris adds size to the receiving core to the speedsters and hands group. Props to the young guys as they are building depth and scoring in bunches on the other side of the 50. Sorry still learning names but Cam Bottoms has thrown some seeds and young Hinegardner is going to be a player. He has Jacob Brass moxie. He can be called on now IMHO! Stay away from injury bug.

Male finished pool play 4-3 in A. Highlands finished 3-4 in B Frederick Douglas currently 3-2 in C with Two games left. A lot of speed and skill here. Nice complex!

Funny you mention that. I honestly could care less where Waldo is now saga! I buy into the team concept. I hope he finds a home and stays.

I am a big fan of Ben! He is ready somebody is going to get a good one!

I still think the jury is still out. I think July will be the indicator. I would expect at least a handful seeing action on both sides of the ball. Bibb, Kissee, schwalbach, LaFrange to name a few. I ton of competition in the WR spots as well as OLB. On offense there is probably 6 or 7 in the mix, 2 TE, Qb and RB that you can safely guess depth chart. It will be interesting. Some have attended college camps. 7 on 7 coming as well. Good to see track and baseball boys back in

Congrats on the commitments. We just made a prospect camp at WKU was impressed with the facilities and how the camp was ran!

Don’t sleep on the Birds. They are light years ahead of last year! I agree that there is some talented teams at the very top; however I certainly believe they can play with them. Some senior leaders are showing the next two classes what it takes to be great and Coach Sphire will have it clicking on all cylinders very soon. Many will be surprised this year and watch out the following two. This I know.

I have a question perhaps it might need to be its own topic. Thoughts about coaches in school systems teaching in one and coaching in another? I know tenure and they are educators first but does it not create an issue and impedes a new coach? Sphires is limited in staff because of teaching positions. He has para-pros and they will do a fine job but to be candid he might be very limited in his choices by others that are in the building. Again I know many are fine educators but having multiple teaching positions tied to coaching jobs down the street can be concerning.

They look nice! So glad for those programs and the kids in all of NKY are the winners.

Thanks. I believe he deserved more last year and he showed that toward the end of Varsity season. However the great part is he played at both levels which helped in his development. In Spring ball he has shown to be a leader of the defense and transitioned to the other side of the ball well. He has witnessed others in the past year or two in that role and knows what it takes. He wants 4 more years and I believe he has the frame and work ethic to make it happen. More importantly he cares about the program and what role he can do to move it forward. He is tight with his own class but he sees the level of play moving forward in the coming classes. Simple words show them what is expected and leave it better than you had it. I truly believe it is in the works. HHS will 1March forward.

Being a big Alabama fan; nothing would make me happier! Again correct me if I am wrong but both boys play the 3 major sports, correct? They are still young and I have not seen either on the grid iron since the frosh season ended. Let’s not put the cart before the horse. They still have plenty of time to earn there stripes. I and plenty of others can’t wait until they pad up. We have heard plenty of good stuff.

This speaks volumes to those that says Coach is against other sports. Typically you can miss for high school spring sports. I am not sure how that shakes out but Harris was instrumental to the Birds basketball run. I tell mine to work hard everyday and just like if you were working some decisions are above your pay grade. You are always going to have athletes that can play multiple and make it work. What I will say for Harris is he is working the hard and missing the fun. His AAU events take him away weekends in Spring which was the more fun events. in recent years past you miss time you can catch up. This is different. Plenty of Summer left but groundwork has been laid. You better come to work and you have a lot of catching up to do.

Missed Henry King in LB crew as well out. A lot held out injuries, baseball and such. I am curious to what others saw? Overall pleased with performance but plenty of work to do.
