  1. Weight room is big. That is a big difference! The time spent is crazy in hours. I will guarantee this the time spent this year versus last year is significant. Those in the program know the difference!
  2. I agree on a lot of this but differ in some points. QB is critical and been inconsistent, in fact I see a change next year. Oline play is dead on and is apparent to me. Special teams specifically return has been a nightmare. I think Dline play has been good. LB play is hit or miss. You have had some fantastic games, the question is finished tackling. Many have made great plays; but missed tackles have led to large gains. Let’s be frank they have been in every game but Ryle with opportunities to win. The Conner game was a huge disappointment. Some have not stepped up!!! It is what it is.
  3. Boy this has jumped the shark! Time will tell if the birds are ready. It has been tough sledding as of late. I feel that many have cashed out. I do believe that the birds are young and will be fine moving forward. I also believed that a group of seniors have played their hearts out. You lose your receiver 1 for the year. Transfer not eligible and no running game. I guarantee you this some know what this week is! Question is will some come and compete.
  4. I like that 3 headed monster and I believe you could see a lot of that creature next year. At this stage it would be great to see more of it now. Tip of the hat to Davis Hinegardner glad to see action for that kid as I suspected. Congrats to Higgs making his first varsity start at linebacker; he did not disappoint. Dunn, King, Kissee, Robinson, LaFrange and Surrey had their typical games. Boone was frustrated as it showed with after whistle crap; but they play hard. The hit a receiver took which resonated in the stands and the kid got up and played the next down. They did not give up. My last comment delay of games, snap ball late in every play clock is like watching paint dry. We could get a potty break between snaps, be better!
  5. Boone is bad and the 15 yard flags for unsportsmanlike was a gut check. Glad Birds did not participate. The punt block was the offense. Say what you want about tackling but some tackles were made. How about a running game??? I don’t think they have over 50 yards average a game. Defend won that game.
  6. It has been quiet! I am aware of some changes and hopefully with that comes a team button up and ready! To say last week was a disappointment it is understatement. If you are not ready for these weeks, your season ends quick. I would have predicted completely wrong last week. Time will tell.
  7. I believe they have been in every game other than Ryle with opportunities for a W in the 4th quarter. Stated earlier some believe they got Dixies best performance. The Birds have not put it together yet. Hopefully they correct the course. I think 5A could be had from any of the 4 seeds in this district. Time will tell.
  8. I’d have them carry a tooth pick for a couple of quick wins lol
  9. Congrats to St X. Very impressive Ryle stay the course. You have an impressive team!
  10. I don’t think the ship has sailed; nothing in 5A local tells me they can’t compete but some changes need to occur. I agree that size, weight and strength has played a role. Robinson is a fantastic athlete but he is not a difference maker in the backfield if you look at backs across NKY. We don’t have one! Second Welch out hurts in so many ways. If he plays the have to cover man with safety. Is Hinegardner back or not get the kid on the field. I think that Dixie and Ryle play this week shows it is tough sledding in NKY and congrats on the recent success of those programs. Hats off to the Cougars QB and RB they had great games. Lastly the field goal kicker and kickoffs. That was super impressive!
  11. Great questions, I totally agree. Conner has no passing game load the box. MLB doesn’t play 5 yards off the ball. Kick extra point. Let’s not get cute. Look at the first series second half and look at the rest of the game. It should be easy to see.
  12. I have some suggestions; all is fair game. Simple suggestions you don’t punt on the team. In districts you play your horses that got you there. Some players were missing during key drives. If you are getting pounded and your run stopper is on the sidelines, makes you shake your head. I expect more and it starts with accountability and this wasn't a talent difference. Noon hasn’t been up to snuff. Tackling was terrible once again. Some players were rested just sayin.
  13. That is what I had as well. Clock ran this creating a reset which also messed up designed play call. Again, the officiating was bad. It does not take away from Dixie executing. They did not turn the ball over and made the right decisions congrats on the win! Birds I happen to see Cam Giesler run over players in the JV game; I sure hope things workout. Griffin Richter back in action will help as well. Like mentioned earlier Benke and Dunn back this week. They are important parts. Young talent need to find away. A few go both ways and they do not like sitting any series and will play through nagging injuries. I expect a new beginning. Districts are now! Go Birds!
  14. 5 yards no way. I thought it was a forward pass but close. My problem was the flag was dropped an eternity later. I think I know the white hat and he reversed a call earlier in the year because he was wrong and not aware of the rule. We need officials but I know the game and many calls were missed.
  15. Good to hear! We need both of them! Huge contributions missed.
  16. Wibberly was as good as advertised at tackle. Like either #8 or#9 comes hard from the DE. Landers had a good game. It was a good matchup. For the Birds I believe Benke comes back and hopefully another one if my birdies are right. We need to get healthy districts start a new season and 5A is going to be a crapshoot.
  17. Halpin sighting tonight. Have to target TE. Lloyd had a great game for Highlands. Congrats George King big game in spot duty. I like when kids step up.
  18. Absolutely terrible officiated game. I am not going to argue the forward pass but the flag was dropped as the team started to lineup for the extra point. Some terrible holds not being called. The argument was a live ball on the field. Dixie coach came out and picked it up.
  19. Congrats to this young Man! Enjoy the story of perseverance! Definitely have to root for success.
  20. I expect this to be a good contest. I hope QB play returns but to be candid the receiving core has been decimated with injuries. Key people are out this week. Last week at Ryle, Harris played little to no defense and LaFrange was moved to keep Ryle from getting outside which he did. No beef against Welsh, Hodge but they are speed guys not going to take on a ground and pound attack. It is funny that some #s mentioned earlier this thread has not watched any film because 14, 21/65/ what jersey this week was not mentioned. In Ryle game they were asked to do other roles but if you watched The McNick film you know who tackles. what we need is for some to step up and that Soph class that loves the press shows up! We need players to take responsibility. Time can be had right now.
  21. Wow! I am pumped about districts. Give Ryle plenty of credit but that was HHS worse game. Injuries to key players, watch the tape I couldn’t stomach it. The two losses are to programs with records totaling 9-1. I could care less where they are ranked. District play is coming and we can evaluate CCH and Cooper. I think 5A is a crapshoot in NKY and I expect some great contests. Go ahead now dismiss the birds, I can’t wait to feed others Crow! I am hooked on a feeling … Birds will rise again!!
  22. Interesting reading. #2 Boler is getting better and better. You can’t have lb”s in coverage if you can’t stop the run. Last week you started the game with two outside lb’s playing inside. They went with a 4-3 as Ryle was running off big tackle. It doesn’t get any easier with WKU commit #58 next week. A strong tackle for sure. A few thoughts birds need to get healthy. Noon can’t be run 1st, 2nd and think about pass 3rd. Whoever return the ball on special teams run North to South in a hurry no freeze frame action. Find somebody to tote the ball. Birds stop playing touch football, tackle…..
  23. Interior offensive line where did either #48 or #49 come from. The blocking has to get better out of the interior line.
  24. Welch stretches the field. We really could use a TE drag the field it was open. Putting LaFrange next to Kissee should help run game moving forward. Kid did a good job at OT which he has never played. Glad to see Kissee suit up!! If you watch the first two series, defensively it set the tone. Tackles were missed out the gait and it continued. Lastly, big penalties when they had Ryle behind the chains. #17 and #65 should know better. Ryle kicker WOW! Congrats on your showing little lady. Not surprised she is going to FL State to play soccer!
  25. Well first Congrats Ryle! Big line,a RB that doesn’t go down on first contact and a better than average passing game. You were much better tonight. Noon- had his worse game by far. You could be a great RB but that is not what you are being asked to do! Way too many off target, and let’s not tuck the ball before your receivers get in route. I truly believe if Benke was available you could have seen a switch. Noon is fantastic but this was Charlie last year for sure! RB are we one our 6th? Talk about a position of need. Tackling oh my Coach wants a gator roll our kids looked like gator bait with the Ryle gators taking off arms. We are building quite a large ambulance squad. I sure hope we get a few back by districts. On kick and punt returns please find someone that flies straight up field. I would grab an old Colin Seidel (frog) film and watch. On a positive saw Matteo sighting. Hopefully he continues to contribute. A lot of work yet. We are not there yet. District play is where the fun begins! Go Birds!
