  1. I'm sure Middlesboro had something to do with that. During the preseason, it was all Corbin was saying, that Vorbeck was the best in the region.
  2. I am predicting a Beechwood win. They have a solid program going up there.
  3. I didn't say my team was #1 in the region. I just said that I thought NL wasn't and that Middlesboro was. Coming out and watching NL play a very down SL will not change that, even though SL has won 4 of the last 5 meetings between the two teams. Isn't it bad when the only thing you have to hang your hat on is that the score was tied 1-1 in the fifth with Lex Cath? They got beat 11-3. That shows me that it was only a matter of time. Looking at KHSAA, 4 of Middlesboro's 5 losses came while in Florida, playing Florida schools. The only common opponent between the two schools is Corbin. Corbin pitched Vorbeck against Middlesboro and lost 15-6. The next day, they pitched someone who was not their ace and only lost 6-5 to the Jags.
  4. They're not #1 in the region. This win makes them 3-0. They also just came off a 2 game losing streak. In my opinion, Middlesboro (7-0 in the region) has to be #1 at this point.
  5. I would imagine that he would. It is very common to bring in a kid for a 7th inning appearance to close a big game and use him as a starter the next day. Not that it means anything in this case but by rule, a pitcher must only sit a day if he pitched 3-5 innings, which clearly, is not the case here. I would assume it depends on how he feels.
  6. Williamsburg isn't terrible. When they have Perkins or Barton pitching well, they can keep most games close. They just don't have the offense to outscore anybody.

  8. Looks like the Redhounds got away with the close victory. Any details on the game? Looks like it will be a battle for the 2 seed.
  9. Heard Bailey pitched and Knox got beat 10-0 by Middlesboro in just 5 innings tonight. Ouch.
  10. You also, coincidentally, find a stud pitcher, great catcher, and good coaches. You can only get so lucky.
  11. Actually, this basketball season showed that consistency is absolutely necessary to win a title. Sure you may win in the first round or even second, but if you're an inconsistent team, you could very easily lose the third, even if you do have more talent. So, I think it boils down to who is most consistent during the second half of the season.
  12. Is it time to take SL off the contender list? I'm a former player of SL, I will admit, but dang, this year has been frustrating after such a good season last year. As mentioned in another thread, I know think that Clay, Middlesboro, Whitley, and NL are the clear contenders. Knox Central, HC, Corbin, and SL are definitely spoilers though. They would not be a good first round game for anyone.
  13. I left out NL on accident, there are playing very well.
  14. Actually, Middlesboro also has 106 runs. But really, a better judge of a team is runs given up. Any team can go out there and run it up on an inferior opponent. And perhaps their hope is that by running it up in as classless a way as possible, people may tout them as a great team based soley on run production. Of those tops teams in the region, coincidentally, Clay County and Middlesboro are tied with just 68 runs given up. I actually think these two teams are strong contenders at this point, along with Whitley and Corbin on some days. Look out for a team from the 50th district to get hot though!!:sssh:
  15. Big win for Corbin. South will have to win out in district play and hope Corbin takes a few on the chin to have a chance at that #1 seed. However, it's virtually impossible. South just hasn't scored runs like in years past. Very frustrating. Props to Corbin.
  16. I heard that he had some serious off the field issues that have gotten progressively worse over the past 4 or 5 years that became undeniable. Their hands were tied.
  17. I'm saying they showed up for one game. I just thought it was funny that they win one decent game and their fans are saying "watch out". haha We'll see how they do tonight.
  18. And the Knox Central game? And from the Wolfson website, their most recent results show them as being 6-8. They played good ball in that loss as well?
  19. Really now. Last I checked, they've lost 2 of their last 3 games. One of those losses was by 12 runs in just 5 innings. Can you really say they played well that game?
  20. How fast does West throw? Who did Clay throw?
  21. It is now a fact. Middlesboro won the all "a" regional title on Friday against Williamsburg, 8-1.
  22. Got to be SL, Whitley, or Corbin. As far as coaches go, top 3 in no particular order: Wynn Harris Rob Ledington Bill Powell
