Corbin was up 10-4 in the 6th, but Whitley rallied and cut it within 2...Vorbeck came in to replace Smith in the 7th and shut the door for the Hounds.

Since Ben Jones is gone on senior science trip, will Vorbeck turn around and start today's game if they don't get rained out? If not, who will start for Corbin?

I would imagine that he would. It is very common to bring in a kid for a 7th inning appearance to close a big game and use him as a starter the next day.

 

Not that it means anything in this case but by rule, a pitcher must only sit a day if he pitched 3-5 innings, which clearly, is not the case here. I would assume it depends on how he feels.

Whitley can hit with anyone, but cannot field the ball, eight errors gave the game to Corbin. Whitley actually outhit Corbin 14-9 and if not for a good catch in right field on the last play of the game Whitley wins.

 

Corbin is now (with apoligies to cards1b21) in the Catbird seat with the win.

Ben Jones is back along with Ben House who was the other Senior on the trip, so Corbin will have both Jones and Vorbeck along with solid relief pitching today.
