In the stands I thought the shot was good, watching the video I was clearly wrong. With that and the blown JJ layup the game had a feeling to it that was very scary as a bulldog fan. I seen last years game, heard about the 90 and 78 games and this felt like it was going to get away too. These kids presistance prevailed however and they brought the trophy up north for the first time in 28 years.

Thats about right... Eli has alot of room to fill out and get bigger if you look at his frame too. Kevon as well when it comes to adding bulk. I don't see Kevon getting much bigger than 6'6 or 6'7 but I can see Eli at 6'9 or so when its all said and done.

I was impressed with Polson of West Jess when I seen him play against Central. I also like Holmes returning trio of J. Johnson, E. Pittman (first team all state) and R. Johnson (second team all state and sweet 16 MVP) that is a ton of talent coming back.

Pittman will likely go the high JC level and transfer out. He can play at any level, that is not the question here with him. I think he'd be a stud at any level, especially if he can put a little bulk on but the thing is his grades. Unless he steps it up a ton and scores well on the test's (act and/or sat) he will probably be JC bound.

The scary thing is Pittman and Rice still have room to grow. If Elijah and Kavon both put another inch or so on and Elijah adds 15-20 pounds of muscle those 2 can be scary.

That would be awesome... If JJ continues to develope then Bradley could be that place. I see JJ playing mid major ball somewhere if he continues to get better at the pace he is now, but Rico may be in line for some big time offers here soon.

Being recruited and on a mailing list is completely different than being offered. Teams mail things in bulk to hundreds of prospects. Obviously you have to be on there radar in some capacity to get that attention in the first place, but at the end of the day only 12 players suit up. So if that letter goes out to just 100 student athletes from any certain program, still only 12 are gonna get that offer extended. So recieving mail doesn't carry much weight for me, but an actual offer is huge.

Boone if on there A game may have made it to Elliott Co, but that is where it would have ended IMO. I think they would have struggled with Christian Co a little but they are sound enough defensively and run a good offense that they would have prevailed. I think that as bad as Lex Cath played in that second round game Boone could have beat them by 10+ but Elliott would have been where the buck stopped. Holmes defensively had the athleticism to get out on all 5 elliott players on the parimeter and to guard the back door plays at the same time. I dont think Boone's bigs would have had the athleticism to keep up with Knipp and the boys from elliott.

I am a Holmes fan, and rest had nothing to do with last year... We had no answer for Miller. That would have been the case with rest or without. Lets just enjoy this one right now and not stir up the pot to much.... :lol:

That is at least 2 years in a row the lower bracket team has won because Mason Co. was lower bracket last year vs Holmes.

Phares meant alot more to SC than people give him credit, I seen them 2 games with out him this year. One was against Holmes when he got in foul trouble early and didn't play hardly at all, SC lost, then against Lex Cath in the regional final... Again a loss. Phares was huge for SC this year. Dom, Housley and Jamel will certainly hurt Holmes but we are talking about 3 players who developed into solid role players after being non existant on the runner up team in 08. It is easier to replace these role guys than a stud like Phares.

Dont be surprised next year if you see a little of Christian McClendon as well. He was an 8th grader who may not be ready to run the point at the varsity level but he can flat out shoot the rock. I wouldnt be surpised to see him play a little 2 guard for the dogs. He will be a big threat from 3, maybe not as good of a shooter as Riley yet but he isn't too far behind.

That is real big... That young man deserves all the accolades that come his way. He is talented, humble, smart and an all and all great kid... Congrats Rico!

Pittman and Riley's improvement from 2008 to 2009 is a big reason why I would say that the 2009 team is better. I like Arrez and as a leader him, Brayon Avery , Terrence Clark, and Todd Humpheries were sorely missed. But Talent wise Pittman, Riley, Kevon Arnold/Rice, and Brandon Housely were better players. There was one legit college player at the end of last season and that was Arrez Henderson. There are 2 big time D-1 players in Pittman and R. Johnson, a mid major in J.Johnson, and another possible small school or D-2 guy in Riley on this roster. Yes, they were all there last year to, but not nearly as good as they were this season.

I am assuming there was a nice crowd bringing them in, but it will definately be rocking at the pep rally tomorrow.

I was at the house unpacking but they rolled right down the street in front of my house, and again, alot of excitement. Sorry Dawg81 I did my best to get there but I couldn't make it in time.

Is that a student only pep rally or is it open to everyone? I didn't graduate that long ago and I am still good with people up there so I can probably get in to see it either way it goes but I am curious for others who may want to attend.

Glad the 9th could take care of business... Go Bulldogs 16th made a push this year as well... Elliott was strong the last couple of years, but just couldn't get over the hump. Now there is no telling when luck will fall their way.

Completely agree with the entire statement. Bud and Dicky should have done snow angels in the confetti ha ha ha.... But yes, both teams played there guts out and both carried themselves well. There was nothing but respect on both sides.

Did that have anything to do with there football guys like Wilson and Morrison still playing football? You take Wilson and Morrison off of that team and they'd really be hurt.

Just got back to the Hotel and I have one word.... Wow! Central really surprised me, I didn't underestimate them but they shocked me with there ability to score from outside, especially number 3. Holmes, built a house from the arc with there bricks early but got focused and played intense for the duration of the game. Missed jump shots didn't discourage them and foul trouble didn't slow them either. They played well through out this tournament and showed alot of people, it wasn't just hype. Hats off to Central for a well played game though. They really turned it on this post season. One last thing.... GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!
