  2. I have known several teen parents who have been able to manage parenting, school and sports. For some of these teen parents if those options weren't available they would have never attended college. One teen parent I knew got a full ride scholarship for sports and went on to college. The child was not neglected, and both parents held down jobs during the summer to help pave a future for their child. I don't believe the school has a right to initiate a ban of such a sort. There is no rule in school that says you are not allowed to have a child. That is an issue that has to be dealt with at a family level, not a school one. If a ban was in place I could see a school facing lawsuits. Maybe I am biased. I went to a school where all the pregnant girls were sent. It was just a fact. I saw alot of them go on to higher education and successful jobs. Unfortunately it is not an ideal situation for a teen, but each person can make the best of their situation.
  3. I will be shocked to see if anything comes out of these frivilous charges. He was in the comfort of his home. Unless he was deliberately standing at the window and making himself visable intentionally, I really don't see he has done anything wrong. I have friends who were saw having sex through their window. Someone claimed to have saw them and called the police. The police did give them a warning and told them to make sure blinds and curtains were pulled at all times, but definately no charges were brought against them. We have a neighbor who walks around in his yard naked all summer long. I didn't believe it until I saw it for my own eyes. Actually my four year old daughter did and she brought it to my attention. He has no privacy fence and actually walks around like this. I was upset at the time so I did call the police but nothing happened. Now his situation he is out in the yard, still his property but visable to everyone b/c he has no privacy fence.
  4. These rankings don't mean anything. I have seen all of these kids play, they are good athletes. Rankings are opinions, everyone has them. I believe Hatton is way underated on this particular ranking. He has played against all of these boys ranked higher than him, and most times than not, he has had the upper hand IMO. I have seen several other sites having these same boys ranked in different order, and I believe most of those sites have Brandon Hatton ranked in the wrong graduation year. Most of them have him under 2013, not 2014. However like I said before these don't mean anything. They are people's opinion. I got on the Jr. All American Camp Website, by invitee only where Hatton was ranked 12th. He made the All American Team but he couldn't play in the game b/c he was previously committed to playing at the 8th grade Nationals. These are suppose to be the elite of the elite playing at these camps. I believe we will see where all these boys stand over the next couple of years.
  5. Dixie has alot of younger talent. Hatton is an eighth grader, who played some varsity last year, not sure about any starting status at this point. I am not sure about Ian. Trammel will be with Dixie, and I would assume Raleigh would be returning. It is his senior year. I think we will see alot out of the 8th region this year. It should be for some exciting basketball.
  6. Parent's don't always hold their child back to have advantage over younger children. I know of two northern ky boys held back , one started JV and played several varsity minutes at 13 years old(7th grade) the other was only 14(eigth grade) doing the same thing at another high school. I don't see where either of these boys have an advantage. Most holdbacks end up playing up in sports, not against boys there own age. If a parent chooses to hold a child back for something other than academics such as sports, they probably are pretty advanced to begin with. Other than AAU I haven't seen many holdbacks playing their own age group in highschool. You have middle school kids playing at a JV and Varsity level, there is no advantage there.
  7. I would have to agree with you on that one. I think there needs to be some change up for a team to be successful.
  8. I think Snider is an excellent ball player and could fit in the top five spot, I had almost forgotten about him. I have only seen him play once this year though. I putting alot of his talent what I have seen from him in previous years. I think the top fifteen SHS posted is a good list. The only one I haven't seen play off that list is Christian Cunningham?... As far as Nick True, he is solid and strong. So I think he will most definately be a kid we will hear alot more about with the years to come. I just don't think he has put in enough performance thus far to be rated, imo. I don't remember seeing him on the AAU circuit last year. I will look to see much more of him this coming year. I heard that he is a fantastic football player, but I have yet to see him play football yet.
  9. This same very issue of age, age exemptions, holdbacks has been debated time and time over on BGP. The bottom line is that everyone is not going to agree. I will not pass judgement on parents that hold their children back. It is each parent's job to take care of what is best for their child. Every situation is different and could be debated over and over again. I still haven't seen a solid top fifteen 13U kids in KY. It seems like everyone can name five or six but that's about it. Is it that we are lacking in talent or is it all the kids aren't being exposed enough? I know when I went down to watch 13U AAU State, there were only three teams going Division 1 that really surprised me.
  10. Here is what the latest rankings that Hoops Report listed as the top 13U players in the state of KY 2014 1. Dylan Portwood Georgetown. KY 6’1” PF 2.Brandon Hatton Covington, KY 5’6” SG 3.Quentin Snyder Louisville, KY 5’5” PG 4.Christian Cunningham Lexington 5’5” PG 5. Jackson Davis Lexington, KY 6’3” C 6.Marcellous Washington Lexington, KY 4’7’ PG 7.Zach McCormick Covington, KY 5’8” PF 8. Dakari Johnson Lexington, KY 6’1’ C 9. Charles Grundy Lexington, KY 5’10” WF 10.Ryan Dishman Somerset, KY 5’9” G I don't believe this list has changed since the end of 2008 which was about seven months ago....b/c I believe that Zach McCormick is now playing with an Ohio basketball team...
  11. From what I have witnessed which is mainly NKY players Brandon Hatton Zach McNeil Dylan Portwood Jackson Davis I know last year Brandon and Dylan were one and two in the state.
  12. Christian has a younger sister, her last name is McClendon. She does not play basketball as far as I know for Holy Cross. I remember when the McClendon kid use to play with the NKY Tarheels. The girl at HC her last name is Beal , she has a brother that plays with the NKY Tarheels currently 13U , his name is Jalen Beal. He attended St. Augustine last year. As far as I know the Beals and McClendons are not related.
  13. Indy Ice lost their second game Saturday morning and is no longer a contender to be placing at Nationals. OBC is playing on Sunday in the Classic bracket for third/fourth. The classic bracket is for the teams that were seeded third and fourth in the pools.
  14. Northern KY Tarheels and Kentucky Elite both have advanced Saturday afternoon out of their consolation bracket. KY Elite will be playing to place either 7th or 11th to finish the tournament. NKY Tarheels will be playing for either 8th or 12th place to finish the National Tournament 13U. Congratulations to both teams for making it this far. Both KY teams will be definate places for the top twelve teams in the nation. Good representation for Kentucky boys basketball at this age group.
  15. Ky Elite won today, advancing in their bracket as well as NKY Tarheels. Congrats to both KY teams....
  16. Hatton,McNeil,Avery,Beal,True,Morgan,Palmer...they have two other boys but I don't believe they have played with them in past years, not sure what their names are....the boys above had merged with DS All Stars this year but broke up right after state..and went back as the tarheels.
  17. I think the top three teams are set, and they are going to be too much competition for the rest of the schools. After that I say it is fair game. I think we won't get a good hold on how the rest will line up until after the season starts. I think there is alot of talent floating around northern kentucky split up among several different schools. Should be for some interesting basketball games this year.
  18. Trammel was present for the game against Scott, not against Holmes. I believe someone said he had prior commitments. I don't believe as a team Dixie played well against Scott, or any of the games they have played during this camp, with the exception of the Holmes game. They lost by twenty but thought they played better as a team than any of the other games.
  19. I watched Dixie play over at Twenhoffel and SK tonight. I think with some practice and time to mesh after losing their seniors from last year, they will be a stronger force than last year. Hats off to Hatton against Holmes tonight. I think he came off with seventeen or so points. Played well overall. Trammel was absent. Smith also had a strong game. I hope all of these boys continue to develop and hope to see some solid games this coming basketball season.
  20. I actually enjoyed the show when it first started. This seems to be the norm anymore with reality television. Someone always cheats, it never fails. I don't necessarily care for either of them. However I don't think cheating on her is fair. He has publicly humiliated her. This is not the tabloids fault, it is his. He knew their life was in the public eye, he should have left her before he cheated on her. He could have avoided embarassing her in front of millions of people. I guess unfortunately when you become part of the public eye , you are expected to take whatever comes your way.
  21. Thoughts and Prayers from NKY
