I find it hard to believe that some other KY 2013 players are not ranked (Quick, McClendon, Monroe, McGovney).

The link is hoopscooponline.com, but you have to have a membership to view. Trevor Tiller is another missing from the list.
NKY Bandit Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Can you add the top players from Ohio, as well? Interested to see where Wingfield and Grimes fit, as well as the PG from OBC.
LCCheer Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 What number jersey did Morton wear last year for LCA? We played (and beat) them several times and I don't remember ANY player that stood out among the others...especially one who is ranked like that!:idunno:
Qryche11 Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 All great players but certainly a few others that I think should be ranked. McGovney and Monroe are fantastic freshman in the 10th Region.

Rainman11 Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 If I am not mistaken I believe he played at Dunbar as an 8th grader. You are correct, Morton was at Dunbar last year. I believe he got a lot of playing time early in the season, maybe even as a starter, but that time went down as the season went on. Two of the top four in KY were at Dunbar last year (so was Braxton McFarland) and both are now at different schools -- I am pretty sure McFarland is at Tates Creek. That is not good news for the future at Dunbar.
RomanEmpire Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Are the numbers next to each players name their ranking in the state? If so, there is absolutely NO way you can tell me that their are 67 eighth graders in the state ranked ahead of Brandon Hatton. This kid took his AAU team to Memphis for DI nationals and went 8-1 and finished with a national ranking of #8 in the country. Also, if the number represents a national ranking, he would have to be a top 25 player based on the players at the Memphis National tournament.

First of all, let me start by saying that I love Brandon Hatton's game. He is one heck of a player. I certainly haven't seen all the top players in the nation, so I would have no idea where he ranks. But, for the record, none of the four players (Snider, Davis, Cunningham and Portwood) listed ahead of Brandon from KY even played in the AAU Nationals in Memphis this past summer so it would be hard to say just because of that success he needs to be higher.

I do realize those four players did not play in Memphis, however, there were players in Memphis who IMO were every bit as good or better than the four listed. Just because they were not there should not diminish Hatton's success there or his team's success. Every coach in Memphis gave nothing but kudos to Hatton, and there were teams there from all around the United States.
Qryche11 Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 I guess we should check those rankings in 3 yrs and then it will truly matter. The state has some very nice players who have performed well in National Tournaments so watching them develop over the next few years will be fun.

I'll run with 5 of the top 70 and play any state you want me too. Especially with the size and skill level of those five.
