What does this have to do with the kid being at Catholic? Catholic is a high school, not an AAU program.

Just curious, does it cause a problem among the Catholic families when when a kid that has not been in the Lex Cath system all of a sudden shows up and starts playing over a kid that has been in the system through middle school? Many times these kids that show up are not Catholic and get significant financial aid. Does this ever become an issue with the families that are Catholic and have volunteered time and money to the program?

 

I've just often wondered if it ever becomes difficult to promote unity and team at a place like Lex Cath?

I wasn't talking about LexCah necessarily. I was talking about being at a different school every year. I am not accusing LexCath of doing anything wrong. I just hope he doesn't have the wrong people persuading him to go to all these different schools every year.

Kids are persuaded to go to different schools all the time for various reasons. I am sure the transfers at Scott County were persuaded -- by their parents wanting a better place for their son to play. The recent Rose Hill departures were persuaded to find a different school as well.

I understand what your saying. I wasn't trying to assume that. I just hope thats not the case with this young man. I don't understand why he isn't eligible since he is a freshman. Is it because he played varsity at Dunbar last year?

I agree with you. Why is he ineligible? Playing varsity as an 8th grader is irrelevant. If he did start this school year at LCA (as was suggested), maybe he played a varsity sport in the fall then transferred or LexCath is waiting on the paperwork from LCA to confirm he didn't so he is currently being held out (if you transfer after the school year starts, the other school has to fill out paperwork that shows you didn't play varsity while there). Pure speculation, but that would make him ineligible. Other than that, I really can't think of a reason.

I agree, I wasnt born yesterday. You take an inner city kid who was at Bryan Station and move him to Dunbar and then LexCath dont tell me it isnt for athletic purposes. Especially since he participated in HS VARsity Basketball as an 8th grader it stinks even more. If he didnt participate in Varsity sports I would say it smells but its legal, however he clearly was playing last year. JMO I think kids should stay loyal to their programs. Look at the Corey Gregg situation. Sad but if he would have just stayed at PC he wouldnt have any issues and would be playing alongside another top young prospect in Mason Monroe.

A lot of times kids leave for reasons other than staing loyal to their program. I don't mind what anyone does as long as its legal and not against the rules.

Well it looks if these rankings are sleeping on a talented baller down in the 12th region for the second year in a row. The Gover kid probably had the most or close to it Varsity experience as a 8th grader and perfromed well. Has also performed well against everyone listed in the top four over the years. Do you all think he just quit playing! Give the kid some respect, don't worry he will earn it. And Comes from a Basketball Family.

I meant his family all played basketball in college.

Shane Hall definitely has to be ranked; This kid is a future D1 player with continued hard work. The kid is unbelievable in the open court and can finish at the rim (either hand dunking) like a highly skilled D1 college player and he is only in the 8th grade.
