Mike Fields writes: Here’s how the boys’ 59th-60th “super district” at Pike Central will work (I think): Monday’s first-round games are Pike Central vs. East Ridge, and Pikeville vs. Belfry. The winners of those games advance to play Shelby Valley and Phelps in the semifinals on Wednesday. Meanwhile, in the 57th District opener on Monday, it’s Paintsville vs. host Sheldon Clark, with the winner advancing to Wednesday’s semifinals against Johnson Central. The other semifinal has Lawrence County vs. Magoffin County. Before Friday’s title games in the super district (59th-60th) and the 57th, there will be a consolation games between the semifinal losers. The winners of those consolation games earn a trip to the 15th Region Tournament. The losers of the consolation games play each other on Saturday, with the winner advancing to the regional tournament at the Eastern Kentucky Expo Center in Pikeville next week.

Pike Central will probably be looking for a new coach and a very big name coach has been approached with the job. Nothing yet, but I guess we will see.

Lets not get too excited saying that any 15th team beats Mason Co.or Clark Co. Do not forget they are a 2A team winning the All A. I know everyone says it doesn't matter but it really does. I think if Pikeville could have a hot night or Johnson Central plays well and the blueprint is set by making them go to the foul line they could get upset in the region. I know this is unlikely, but there are not going to be too many times that you can get by shooting so poorly at the line.

The Khsaa Sweet 16 is the only reason I don't go to the SEC tournament. Don't ever change it!! 5 players can win it all. It is different when it is 11 on 11 or maybe even 9 on 9 in baseball. I would go for classes in baseball, but never in basketball.

Yes, the Freshman are at the Fieldhouse. The 8th and 7th play at the Fieldhouse as well.

Mason was 3-16 from the free throw line vs. Franklin co. If Mason would have made their free throws they would have won as well.
