The Golfer

Two of the best wide outs in the state in Minnifield and Jeter. I think that both of them will be in the Kentucky All Star Game but that's my opinion. They have Boyd who is a Junior wide out who is about about 6'7 or so. He is very tall but they don't throw the ball his way as much as the other two. Gay is their runningback who is pretty solid and they rotate their starting quarterback with Minnifield from time to time. They are in shotgun about 90% of the time and run the Tony Franklin offense. Henry Clay can score a lot of points. I think this past week they over looked Clark a little bit and Clark went after a Henry Clay weakness and that was their defensive line. Clark ran the ball well and ate up A LOT of clock. If Trinity establishes the running game they will win. Henry Clay has a lot of speed in the defensive backfield but the are not nearly as good at stopping the run.

They have turf. It's kind of thick compared to some of the other turf fields I have been on but it is very nice.

I hope Clark County doesn't get down early because Sam Simpson will kick you while your down. If he gets up big get ready because Henry Clay will be kicking onside kicks. Don't ask me why but they will run the score up like no one else will if they are given the chance.

This is not something to new to have to shut people out if it gets to crowded. I remember in the spring of 99 when Scott County #1 in the state in Basketball when they had Rick Jones, A. W. Hamiltion and they were playing Madison Central #2 in the state when they had Marquis Estill and Kenneal Jenkins the game was at Scott County and the doors were closed sometime past 6:00 if I remember correct. There was no uproar about moving the game to Rupp Arena. The fire marshall closed the doors. This is nothing new.

I think it has to due more with the Horseman and working with some coaches who know the system as well. The Horseman's head coach is Lafayette's Defensive Coordinator and I honestly think the Horseman/Lafayette staff knows Tony Franklin's system as well if not better than Henry Clay does.

If you want my honest opinion I think Mike Harmon learned from someone on how to stop the dreaded "Tony Franklin" offense. I think Harmon has something on them.

That's a good point lol Henry Clay will be playing next week though. They play a mediocre football team this week at best.

You are right on how they abandoned Rod Johnson and I don't know why. But for some reason Henry Clay wants to be a passing team no matter what. They are not as good this year at running the football but they are a better passing team which is the direction they would like to go anyway. The quarterback isn't as good as last year but he has the same weapons Simpson's boy did last year except they are a year better. It doesn't take a lot of skill to chuck the ball up to D 1 Wide outs. They will go get the ball. I agree Sam Simpson was embarrassed last year by Trinity's coaching staff and that's what lost the game more than anything. I wouldn't expect that to happen again or not nearly as bad this year if they meet. The quarterback being the coaches son was more of a negative than a positive.

I'm not trying to be a homer or anything because Henry Clay is by no stretch my favorite team and I have not seen Male and that's who I think will win Friday Night but I have seen Trinity and I have seen Henry Clay and the gap between these two teams is very small. Henry Clay has much more team speed. Not as good of a quarterback as Trinity, but Trinity gave up A LOT of passing yards in the second half to MBA and Henry Clay has better wide outs than MBA. Trinity has a very good runningback in #5 but in the MBA game they got a little pass happy and got away from him. He would be their key to victory a team like Henry Clay and even Male to control the clock. I know the MBA game is only one game for Trinity but that is most likely the best team they have faced all year. I would think Trinity would be favored but I would say by a touchdown or so not by much. Maybe 10 pts if it was in Louisville but it would be at Henry Clay so really think it would be a close game. Henry Clay moved the ball very well on Trinity last year but Sam Simpson would call some fade inside the 25 yard line and chuck it in the end zone and get picked off. I remember Henry Clay had something like 4+ turnovers if I remember correct and they were mostly on Trinity's side of the field. When they didn't turn it over they scored. Next week should be a fun matchup for whoever wins on Friday.

I wish the Cards well but this will be a blowout. Henry Clay 5+ touchdowns in this one.

I agree both of them were playing last year they were juniors. They are a little older and a little better. Henry Clay wasn't undefeated they had lost to Lafayette like they did this year as well. I think Trinity or Male will beat Henry Clay but Henry Clay would be very tough to blowout is all I am saying.

It's just this year though. On the KHSAA website they have the regional championship pairings out for the next couple of years. I know Trinity will be in the same Region as the Lexington schools next season.

I never said that the way they acted wasn't ignorant because it was but they do have a Wide out who is going to Virginia a wide out who is 6'8 and Jeter who may be better than both of them. I'll put it this way I know MBA and I know Henry Clay and Henry Clay has more talent.

Yea, most likely but Henry Clay is rolling and if I'm not mistaken they will host the winner of the Trinity Male game (if they beat Clark of course:rolleyes: ) Henry Clay has two big time wide outs in Jeter and Minnifield who are seniors and Boyd is about as big a receiver as you will see. They won't be a push over especially if it's in Lexington. Henry Clay can play with either one of them but I don't know about beating them.

Let's cut to the chase here if they move it will be because teams split a playoff gate and the gate will be much larger at Papa Johns then anywhere else. I don't like this new idea that the road team brings a huge crowd so lets just go to a neutral site so we can make more money. I know Male is loaded with speed but if the argument is speed they should try to use Papa John's every week instead of just the Trinity week.

They are undefeated I would say earned. I'm not saying they are better than Trinity but it is their home field they are suppose to play at. It's an honor to play at home in these big games at least it should be. There is no way I would move this if I was Male's coach, but that is just me.

Play the game at home. Male earned the home field advantage and should not go to a neutral site to please the Trinity fans because they bring an Army. It will be crowded and some people may not get in but they have done this in basketball before by the fire marshall closing the doors not letting people in so football should be no different. Make someone come to your place and beat you.

I know Berea only gets a few players out on the team and they don't have a lot to draw from with Madison Southern getting most of the kids in the area. But Berea is an Independent school with Rockcastle just to the South and Richmond just to the north with quality football players in these two areas and there is no school district bound for Berea if a student can get transportation to the school. You would think they could be better than this.

For me the best atmoshpere is Fort Thomas Highlands. It is the loudest place I have ever been too mostly because the stands are basically on the sideline.

I won't dissagree with you there but on Lafayette getting upset I hate to say it but they were due. They beat Bryan Station by 8, were losing to Dunbar in the 4th quarter, went to Overtime with Scott County, were losing by 10 to Woodford before the lightning delayed the game and played their best two games against Tates Creek and Henry Clay. Bottom line they won A LOT of close games and eventually if you don't pull away from somebody that somebody will beat you.

Lincoln is a solid football team but no where near Trinity St. X or Male. Lincoln will win this week against Clark County but they will run into a buzz saw with Henry Clay.

It's fine there is no problem. I don't know about Catholic and Lafayette but I do know that Lexington Catholic's J.V had already scheduled something like 13+ J.V. games for the season. They may not have wanted another one. Catholic is trying to schedule teams for Varsity in the future. The boycott is over.

I agree. I saw Lincoln play PRP and I know Lincoln beat Rockcastle which is a HUGE win. There isn't a doubt in my mind that they will be in the Regional Championship. I think they will host the Regional Championship and who ever they play it should be a close game. I think Henry Clay will be there but that's just my gut, even though Lafayette should be the favorite to be there. Who ever wins the regional championship will get beat pretty hard the next week though. Lexington and Central Kentucky can't compete with Male, St. X or Trinity this year.

Hey I'm all for Lincoln pulling of an upset. If I'm not mistaken Male beat PRP 59-0 which just shows how good that team is. They beat Highlands in a scrimmage and St. X. This team should be the state champions unless X or T gets them in the early parts of the playoffs. In this region my brain says Henry Clay will find some way to get byScott County and get over the Lafayette hump. Lincoln could give Henrly Clay or Lafayette some problems but I think players like Jeter, Minnifield for Henry Clay or Bunch and Stevenson for Lafayette would be too much to handle for Lincoln if I had to guess. But if Lincoln played Henry Clay or Lafayette I think Lincoln matches up better with Lafayette since Lafayette does not score quite as quick as Henry Clay does. Jeter and Minnifield are two Division 1 receivers and it's very difficult to line up with them.
