Those three seemed to all be the 5th on the floor at different times. Most consistant were the four I mentioned. JMO. After two games the four I mentioned have played D very well. Looking for the consistant 5th IMO on D. Stephenson has the speed to keep up with Wainscott, Brown, Ponzer and Aris. Take a lot of what I opionate on with a grain of salt...I was a wrestler! :jump:

SO, SO, SO, right! Even at middle school people expect NBA officiating and complain because they have to pay to get in! If, I can get a certified official at a middle school game I am happy! :clap:

SK (2-0) GRC (1-1) Lady Pioneers were ahead by as many as 14 at one point in this game. Unofficial: Wainscott (16) and (4) Rebounds. Brown (12) and (6) Rebounds Other 25 points spread pretty evenly among Ponzer / Aris / Blevins / Pace / Stephenson. Ponzer / Brown / Wainscott / Aris / all reall good looking "D" Stephenson / Blevins / Pace at different times as a 5th on "D" Downside IMO too many turnovers. This game should not have been this close because of that stat.

Respectable showing for SK in their 1st outing of the season and defense of the 8th Region Title. Slow start and a little foul trouble early. Good defense as usual for SK. Points spread pretty well with Wainscot (16) and Brown (10) as leading scorers. SK will play GRC tomorrow at Highlands.

You are correct. She saw action at JV and way behind the Figgins twins and Brown on the varsity bench. I stand corrected.

Those of you with more basketball experience than this old wrestler would have a better summary if you saw the scrimmage but here goes... Good agressive scrimmage tonight between SK and SO. SO finished the 1st half 33-20 over SK and SK finished the 2nd half 35-25 over SO. Sorry I'm not very good with details of SO but: South Oldham #14 SO is heck of an outside shooter. #25 SO had great game all around. What a good looking player. SO rotated players well and have a good bench. (IMO) you better be in good physical condition to play with them. They rotated mostly 3 at a time and never skipped a beat. Simon Kenton struggled 1st half. Sloppy and I know it was the first time Ponzer has had a full scrimmage and they are still working out that 5 position underneath. Ponzer: All the speed and defense she had last year and shot several 3's. A little rusty but will be tuned in no time. Played all of scrimmege. Brown: 10/12 from FT Line. Played the 4 position and finished with 18. She played all but 1-2 min. after getting hit pretty hard under board. Very good def. and all over floor. Aris: Soph. looked real good on floor and seemed to gel with Brown, Ponzer and Wainscott. Real quick and played solid def. IMO will be fun watching her develop this season. Wainscott: Not sure but about 10 points. Coming along as she adjusts to filling in for Tolliver. SO #25 was a handful for her. Those four are in great physical shape. Blevins (Jr.) / Pace (Sr.) rotated in and out at the 5 position. Blevins finished with 10. Both coming off injuries from last year. IMO....All in all a pretty good showing for SK as a first time having all the players there. Bench is not as deep as in the past and must improve on turnovers. :popcorn:

SK - Casey was 16-16 1st half. Ponzer was at state soccer game for SK. Brown - Wainscott played all but about the last 3 minutes of 2nd half. Next weekend scrimmage 6:00 PM against S. Oldham at SK. First time Brown-Wainscott-Ponzer will be on the floor together. Those 3 must play a lot of minutes! IMO

Well let me throw this out there....SK is smaller this year and you can't lose the seniors they did without feeling the pinch. That being said there is a good returning core of talent to reload on. It looks as though the 8th will be a very close race this year with balance across the board. At SK Wainscott will need to pickup where Tolliver left off and Ponzer is very defensive and fast. Has anyone been able to size up the impact of Brown at at SK for her senior year? She averaged 7.7 ppg last year coming in mid-season from shoulder surgery and finishing every game from that point forward. Great Regional Final against Anderson and very good couple games at state. She had a pretty good summer set playing with "Cutters" which had Tibbs, Wainscott, Towles, and Allen. I'm too close to the picture and would appreciate some outside looking in.

His balance is amazing. A players ability to keep their cleats under them and make cuts on any surface the way he does is pure instinct.

Good question and it has presented some eligibility questions this year. I am sure the league AD's / coaches will discuss in off season. The league has come a long way and gets better each year. The biggest thing this year is that I believe every school also had a complete 8 - 10 game JV schedule. :thumb:

Should be interesting season. Wainscott, Brown and Ponzer all return having been to state tourney in consecutive years. Not great height. 4th and 5th starters need to be sorted out. Wainscott and Brown looked very good in the summer circut playing with Tibbs (Scott HS), Allen - Towels - Ali (Highlands) and Beasley (Conner). Wainscott is strong at guard and will step into big shoes. Brown averaged 8 ppg when returning as the 6th man full time at mid-season from shoulder surgery playing the 3/4 positions. Defensively these two need to pull everyone together. Looking forward to another run!

He is the underated / overlooked talant that can be the difference for SK. that is quickly changing with each game. Great balance now.
