  1. Wife and I went and were treated to a great basketball game. Always relaxing to watch a great game without a dog in the fight. It still amazes me to see how many opposing players throughout NKY show up for games and cheer on players and friends from other teams. SK, Conner, Cooper, Dixie, and many more all had players there watching the game. Good time and good game! :dancingpa
  2. Best wishes Miles from all of us here at Summit View! I'll ask what I've always asked you, "Who are your friends and how are your grades!" It's all out there for you! :thumb:
  3. County went "GREEN" this year and the surface is horrible. Ever been to the Kenton County Middle Schools? Horrible....water based surface cover! :puke:
  4. Yea, team did not know until they arrived at the school tonight. Suprised them too! Shows how much I think I know! :isurrender: Some great defensive sets tonight on both sides. 18 - 16 SK at the half. Took lead in the second and never gave it up. Lady Pioneers needed this game after taking it on the chin twice in recent games. Play Scott in a rematch on Saturday @ SK, keep it up.
  5. Yes, especially for this team as young as they are! I believe they could be 8th favorite in another season "IF" they are prep with tougher teams.
  6. You must admit that it is :idunno: something big. Motivating / sending a message in this manner during a State "A" run is confusing? If that is what it was. I don't think it would be to sacrfice State "A" and using it (whatever) to motivate them for the 32nd / 8th with a shot at a possible run to the big time? Sure makes Monday nights match-up at SK interesting.
  7. (SK) Wainscott out with injury while Pioneer Ladies are coming off two hard games with out her and 5-0 district record. (WV) Coming to SK with hard loss to in "A" Tourney and 2-1 in the district. (SK) won the first meeting by 6 in a late rally at (WV) early in the season with "D" and free throws.:popcorn::popcorn:
  8. Wasn't there but I believe Rader(DH) was out with knee injury from last night at Villa. After that I'll bite my tongue on this thread panda.
  9. Ankle injury...at Shelby Co. last Saturday at the start of the 2nd QTR. Hope she will be back by districts. In the mean time a real rough schedule to finish regular season. We came back and won the Shelby game that night however, the results of the next two haven't been as enjoyable. Boone Co. (L) and then Ryle (L). Play Walton-Verona this coming week.
  10. Congrats Amy! It was great to see you and Kim tonight! ---Nikki :dancingpa
  11. Wainscott was out and if you look at some tape of game Brown has a player posted on each side of her when SK was on offense. Second half great D by Davis of Boone she looked like her and Brown were attached at the hip. Maybe "isolated" isn't the right word but, no Wainscott and Brown 23 straight minutes smothered, the others (not known for excessive scoring) need to find 30 additional points. Not the same bench as it has been the last couple years when you had an injury and could call up a Figgins, Wainscott or Brown. SK can play solid D. Stephenson, Pace, Orr, Blevins getting experience each game and playing well. I look for Wainscott back maybe just before districts. Hopefully.
  12. Sloppy? Yes. Lots of turnovers. also, SK has not been able to take advantage of breaks that did go their way. Many times Monday against BOONE they would get a call, a Boone turnover, great rebound, and turn right around and give it back. You can always say "IF" however, this game looks completly different "IF" RYLE doesn't hit 9  (yes 9 half of RYLES pts) wide open 3's and "IF" SK only hits their average number of turnovers this season. I think last night for the first time they looked "gun shy." :idunno: Brown needs to step up (they cannot pick up Wainscott's 18 and the 7-9 she has been short the last two games.) I know she gets doubled up and isolated but needs to fight through it. Only "two" officials last night  let the game become much more physical than it should have been IMO. Short handed makes it that much more difficult espically when Brown-Stephenson - Ponzer get no break. I am not saying they could have beaten either of these teams without an experienced player like Wainscott, but considering both Boone and Ryle left their starters in (given their leads) the games could have been in the 3-4 point range. Wainscott and Brown play so well together and you can see the difference. I don't see Wainscott back till after the Lex. Cath game on the 2/12 or even before the Districts for that matter.
  13. :thumb: Lot of wear and tear on my Lady Pioneers. Hung in there for a good portion of the game. Good job girls. Rest up for Walton on Monday. What a fine young team this Ryle is. Sound, fit, quick and dead-on shooting. Oh, ya, and a lot of them!
  14. I agree. In fact I see that as no different a strategy than isolating and dbl teaming etc. There is no difference in slowing down the game and on the other side with Wainscott on the bench Nell dbl teaming (isolating) Brown. She forces the rest of the team to produce their norm AND 30+ lost points. All part of the game.
  15. Good job D-series. I tend to focus narrow in the SK games (for good reason.)
  16. Heck of a player. Smooth and had the same expression on her face at the end as it was at the beginning. Actually, she was a little off tonight and missed a couple she doesn't usually miss. I know the 3 SK rotated underneath couldn't keep up with her. Maybe we should begin calling her the "CAT." She glides in and out as quick as anyone I have seen. One second she is there the next she isn't! The box belongs to her! :notworthy:
  17. BC 10 11 11 15 - 47 SK 8 8 11 6 - 33 SK hit foul trouble late 3rd and that is not a good thing against Boone. Good coaching on Boone also. Isolate Brown with dbl team 1st half and then glue Davis on her in the 2nd half. Sandlin nose to nose with Stephenson and make the other 3 beat you. SK had many chances to stay in this one only down by 5 at end of 3rd. Some really good defensive plays in this one. (Panda) will understand...Brown randown Sandlin on a steal break and caught her at the board all ball and 3 steals. IMO a couple SK players left it all on the floor and without Wainscott. Ponzer great "D" and speed all night. Brown-Ponzer-Stephenson stayed on floor all night. That is a tall order with the rotation Boone can muster. You just cannot make mistakes when breaks come your way.
  18. With recent change to SK roster due to injury what are your thoughts?
  19. Given the injury to Wainscott of SK, what say you about tonights match-up at SK?
  20. Not sure on details. Saw it happen. Came down on it hard. She was in splint at practice today. Prepare for worst and hope for best. IMO, we won't see her again before Districts. Big challenge for the final 9 games.
  21. I was joking to tell Boone the game had been moved to Tuesday.:jump:
  22. Sorry for confusion everyone! Wainscott is on the shelf for now. IMO, lucky to see her again before Districts. Team stepped up well last night to play 3 qtrs without her and beat Shelby at Shelby and being down at the half. Here is a monster ending schedule to challenge SK Ladies leading into districts: Jan 25, 10 Boone County home 7:30 PM Jan 28, 10 Ryle away 7:30 PM Feb 1, 10 Walton-Verona home 7:30 PM Feb 5, 10 Campbell County away 7:30 PM Feb 6, 10 Scott home 3:45 PM Feb 8, 10 Cooper home 7:30 PM Feb 12, 10 Lexington Catholic away 7:30 PM Feb 15, 10 Bishop Brossart home 7:30 PM Feb 19, 10 Highlands home 7:30 PM Tall order but this is a gritty bunch of young ladies. IF, SR's Brown / Ponzer / Pace can turn their play up a notch and underclass Stephenson / Blevins / Aris / Orr can compensate the Lady Pioneers should be okay. Too, their benefit, they are 5-0 in district and worst case is they end up in coin toss with WV. This team can get to regionals and if you have a problem like this it is the year to be in the 8th and not the 9th or 10th.
