Sorry, I was refering back to the previous game SK played against WV Saturday evening and commenting on Brown's and Pace's play progress. The Dixon I was speaking of is WV.

Good all around play by WV and making the freebees in the clutch was big for SK. Brown and Wainscott both 2 for 2 under a minute! Brown's "D" on Dixon was special. If she (Dixon) comes close to her average this year and SK doesn't clear the hurddle. You had to be there to see the physical beating those two dished out on each other. They will see each other at least 2 more times and that will be key.

If PACE can be strong and continue to improve she opens a big door inside for BROWN. Last night they all played very well together. Stephenson would be a great asset down the long run. WAINSCOTT-PONZER-BROWN-STEPHENSON can flat out run the floor with anyone. The four together can create a lot of damage. BROWN - WAINSCOTT - PONZER have sat very very few minutes this season.

Well, to their benefit none of the starters were in foul trouble. Ponzer might have went to 3 late in the fourth when SK needed her into guide the JV for a short stretch. They have a tough 4 game 4 day stretch coming up this weekend. Hope they stay hot and healthy. They all looked like they were having fun playing basketball tonight. A little relief from the last two heart stoppers. :clap:

This was on it's way to the century mark but coached with class by Stowers. Wainscott-Brown-Ponzer-Pace all sat out from the 3:00 min mark in the 3rd for the rest of the game. SK was up by as much as 30 at one point. Wainscott 17 Brown 14 Ponzer 11 17 - 12 SK 1st 47 - 24 SK Half 86 - 76 SK Final Must have been 70 penalties called. No Joke! Congrats Lady Pioneers!

IMO, Wilhoit for WT. SK nose to nose "D." Wainscott - Brown hit 4 FT's with under a min. and WT missing FT's under a min.

Don't forget her defender is one of the top defenders in NKY. You don't score many points against her. She (Brown) held Tibbs to 7 last year in man to man and scored 17 on her.

SK has had two super physical games in WV 12/12 and WT 12/14 in the last 72 hours. Scrapped back in both. They could sure use a smooth win at home. Doesn't seem anyone will make it easy on them. Everyone seems to have upped their game a notch knowing SK lost a good deal of talant from last season. If they play their "D" you'll not score much around 40 on a good night. They have the players to score 50 against anyone.

I'll tell you what. Wilhoit could have been a fighter pilot tonight! She hit everything she put up. Not pretty for SK but a district win is a district win. Say one thing, it ain't over till the buzzer with them this year. Wainscott tough the last 5 min in the last two games. Brown might of had a dbl-dbl tonight. I know she had at least 10 pts and a good number of rebounds. Wainscott had a number of rebounds also. Her and Wainscott hit freethrows in last min. to secure it. That "D" better stay tough. Oldham at home tomorrow for the Pioneers. What a long "edge of your seat season" this may turn out to be in the 8th.

What a "nice" mess if you are a fan of the game and girls basketball ! You're right about WV. Can SK stay healthy and improve their team work? Which SO will show up? CC prowling around. SC rising? AC young and growing ! Owen ? Wow ! I will need a box of ROLAIDS to follow my team ! :confused:

Where was it played? Highlands had a game like that late last year against SK at home and couldn't put it away.

That WV team has a LOT of good players! They are all young on top of that. :eek:

Had to relax and eat after that game! :ohbrother: Wife made me throw in some holiday shopping on top.

I don't know but the total was somewhere around SK 20 WV 10. Walton beat SK to the freethrow line all night and failed to drop 4 (?) in the final 5 min.

I believe it was: 1st 11-2 WV 2nd 17-11 WV 3rd ? WV Final 41 - 35 SK :clap: IMO, the key was again SK "D." This resulted in the inability of WV to get the ball into Dixon. I'll tell you one thing, Brown (SK) and Dixon (WV) were something to watch. Physical x 2. Brown ended with 6 pts and Dixon 9 pts. Both ended with 4 fouls each but played 95% of the game and both were there at the finish. They were on each other like glue and Brown was able to drop freethrows in the final 1:30. They each were held to 50% of their normal scoring this season. What a couple warriors tonight. :notworthy: I believe the game was tied twice and SK only had one lead 31-30 until the last 1:30. Wainscott finished with double points but not sure of total? Ponzer (SK) 9 pts. great as usual on "D." Pace (SK) played the best she has ever played under the boards. If she continues to improve on how she looked tonight" what a great help!" They have to watch turnovers. Brown - Wainscott - Ponzer all had big steals that resulted in points. Guess who says this "If we hold a team under 40 we'll always score 41."

Simon Kenton defensed GRC very well in their game a week ago. GRC sure seemed to have the players but were behind by as many as 14 against SK. Very close game.

That's a little strong. SK has been to Sweet 16 the last two years and Final 8 last season. Completly "walked" through the 8th last year. Three (3) very experienced state players returning (Wainscott-Brown-Ponzer). Impressive at times in early season. That is a little better resume than Highlands or S. Oldham starting a new season. You have to let them at least start the season on the T-20. Don't forget Neither of those teams could get past SK last year. I did say earlier I don't understand how they calculate it. But if speculation has anything to do with it you can't exclude SK in the beginning. :walk:

Never understood the whole process. SK is on there this year after losing the 4 strong seniors they had and had to fight to get on last year with that strong team. :idunno:

Elkus was handed a real mess IMO. There is also another dynamic at play here. In the MS the play is really thin. The addition of the Boone middle schools back into the league has done a couple things... 1. It has given MS teams a schedule as long as the HS. 26 games before league championships and any tournaments. That is good and bad. Lots of playtime but a long whipping if you have a low talent swing or in Kenton MS position cherry picked teams. 2. HS in Kenton are all pulling up seventh - eighth graders. This places Kenton MS at disadvantage since I know for a fact that Summit View is playing with only 7 eighth graders and Turkeyfoot is using seventh graders to field an 8th grade team. Additionally, Summit View has finished a game or two with only four players because of injuries. 3. That starts a chain reaction problem because you start moving 6th - 7th graders all around and according to NKMSAA rules players can only play one game a night and it must be up not down. 4. MS programs in Kenton have traditionally thinned themselves out from the sixth grade season to the eighth grade season. Start with 14-15 and end three years later with 8-10. 5. It is obvious that the lack of play between Kenton and Boone MS girls has hurt Kenton over the last few years. Kenton pushed around a lot of smaller schools during that period and neither the coaches nor players were really prepared for the readmission of Boone. You coach and play to a different level based on the competition. (MPO) If HS coaches became more involved in the whole development, process rather than cherry picking players all HS programs would benefit.

Not sure I understand. The AD at middle or HS?

Simon Kenton extends to (3-0) (Unofficial) Wainscott 12-13 pts. 6 rebounds Brown 10 pts. 9 rebounds Stepenson I believe was leading scorer for SK and not exactly sure about all her points. 15? 14 - 10 Dixie 1st 21 - 18 SK Half 36 - 27 SK 3rd 47 - 37 SK Final Good "D" for SK but offense was a bit off. Many missed shots. If they'd made 1/4 of what they missed this is a 30+ win. Big game @ WV on Saturday evening.
