This is absolutely on the money. I believe it was two years ago that Manual was just getting started with a new coach and lost both their preseason games before opening the season unranked. Then #4 Doss rolled into Manual and Jenkins went for 27 points as Manual won that game by double-digits. After that, North Hardin made a trip to Manual. Again Jenkins lit it up with 31 points and Manual defeated another higher rated opponant. So as you say "let the real season begin!!!!"

I didn't see the game but going by what I saw against Lexington Catholic, Manual has plenty to get the job done. Jenkins is without question the second best player in the state and I highly doubt we will see him sitting extended periods of time against North Hardin this Tuesday.

Predicting Hood to struggle some with below 50% shooting while all 3 EC players excel including a 7 for 12 from 3s from one of the players, wow. Good stuff.

Yes, and its an honor that the belief is there. An absolute honor and a tribute to the team's success. Hopefully more history can be written for Manual and a team that has had 3 coaches in 4 years. With the state's toughest schedule that includes the LIT, KOB, 5th/3rd, 7th Region Tourney, HoopFest, KY Prep Classis, and 7th region regular season schedule, the team and him will have a great opportunity this year to do just that.

In the 7th region, its either play team or sink. Every week is a top 10 game. Name another player in the state that could lose 4 starters and 2 D1 players by transferring out and still have his team in the top 5.

Exactly. That was the whole point of starting the thread. Nothing has changed except it is a good learning experience as teams get acquainted to their new line-ups.

You're a sophisticated basketball fan and your comments are good. It was odd that you did that fully knowing the season was three weeks away. It doesn't matter now and we seem to agree. The point is these games do mean something and Elliott County and Manual have solidfied their spots in the rankings while earning respect even if they are preseason games.

I agree with you. They deserve respect. But then why did you try and discount Manual's romp over Lexington Catholic last weekend with "its a scrimmage" and "that what I thought" comments? Preseason games like these are played with intensity. I say this solidifies EC's spot in the top 10.

Yes, it was a scrimmage just like the games going on this evening.

Sounds like EC is playing good basketball. I wouldn't discount this because its a scrimmage as some tried to do with Manual's rout over Lex Cath. I'm sure EC and GRC are getting after it and EC appears to be getting it done in a nice way.

I've always believed that coach by coach, Kentucky High School basketball has the best in the country. It always seems that when our teams leave the state, Kentucky always fares great against the other state's elites regardless of talent differences.

Well lets take a look at that. Jenkins led Manual in scoring the last 2 years and Manual had 4 players averaging double figures. During the two year that Jenkins led Manual in scoring, he did not lead the team in shots taken and last year was second in assists. Manual had its highest finish ever in the KOB last years and won the LIT for the first time in 50 years. Won more games against top 25 teams last year too. Manual loses 4 starters, 2 DI prospects to transferring, and Manual is still picked in the top 5 to start the season. What other team/player could lose that type of talent and experience and still be considered a state contender all the while going through 3 coaches in 3 years. Recently, Manual played Lexington Cath, the #7 team in the state. Jenkins had 21 on 14 shots, but he also dished out double digit assists in leading Manual to a 16 point win. Manual's preseason top 5 ranking is the highest in over 50 years. Jenkins is the highest rated player as well. You can try to state your negative opinions, but the accomplishments both of TEAM and player speak louder.
