I wonder what coaches gave Fairdale and Christian Co their ONE first place votes?

Kind of surprised to see Mason Co all the way up at #8.

Top 5 looks about right but I'd have GRC at #4 over EC.

28% of the teams are Louisville teams.

Because the 7th region is loaded this year...

And it's the L-ville paper.

And its a coaches' vote and you will see the same things in Lexington Herald Leader on Friday. There was 100 or so coaches voting in this from all over the state.

The 7th region and 11th region seem to battle on who is the toughest in the state. The 11th got shafted a little in this ranking and I would think the 7th and 6th will get shafted a little when the Herald Leader rankings come out. It's a mutual battle if there was a ranking that could be in the middle of these two it would be about right.

Is NKY basketball that down this year (with the exception of Holmes)?

I honestly think so. Boone is a solid #2 as is Covcath at #3 but both are a distant #2 and #3 when compared to Holmes.

I thought #16 was a misprint. I would have another Lexington school Tates Creek in that slot over Bryan Station. Madisonville at #17 only because of Hood. I would not have them in my Top 25, but would replace with either Hopkins County Central and the two big guys or Seneca in the 7th.

Teams on the edge of the Top 25: Boone County, Iroquois, Madison Central, Anderson County, Taylor County, and South Laurel.

From nky.com:

Holmes, with three starters back from the team that played in the state championship game last year, is ranked No. 2 in the state in the (Louisville) Courier-Journal preseason boys' basketball coaches' poll.

The Bulldogs, who return juniors Ricardo Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson and Elijah Pittman, received seven first-place votes. No. 1 is Scott County, which received 97 of 109 first-place votes from coaches statewide. Scott County is led by transfer Dakotah Euton, a UK recruit.

Holmes plays Scott County at NKU's Bank of Kentucky Center on Dec. 14, capping the eight-team, two-day Bluegrass/Buckeye Challenge.

Do you really think he will be the leader on this team?
Do you really think he will be the leader on this team?

No. Plain and simple. And whatever writer wrote that obviously doesn't know much about SC. IMO they will be lead by Guyn and Phares.

He's in the gym every morning at 6am. He may not lead them in scoring, but I'd guess he'd lead them in effort. But he could lead the state in virtually every category and there'd be some on here who would find a way to cut him down to try to push the agenda of other players. It is what it is.

I seem to remember there was a crowd here who did the same about OJ Mayo. He was overrated, was an average college player at best, yada, yada. We talk about basketball IQ in this forum, yet sometimes don't display much.
