If I am not mistaken Scott County played Arlington Country Day a couple of years ago in a close loss in a Florida tourney. ACD features Ari Stewart this year, a top 150 player nationally.

I noticed that Fayette High, Georgia is playing. Manual defeated them last year at the King of the Bluegrass behind Jenkins' 28 points against top 10 shooting guard Noel Johnson who is committed to USC. Should be a nice event and Elliott will do well there.

Every player for Holmes can get out and run on the breaks and they can finish. Scott County cannot. Phares and Jackson will be the top two rebouners in when Scott County faces tough teams. Holmes can rebound with anybody and they can play a straight-up man defense against anyone. Scott County will not be able to do that. Scott County is the state's #1 team with Holmes right there. Records can be deceiving, especially at the high school level. Losses are dictated by the strength of a schedule or how many top rated opponants a team plays. There could be a 10-loss team that has played a loaded schedule that I would still say are better than an undefeated team playing zero ranked opponants or a soft schedule and going undefeated. Question, if a team plays a soft schedule and loses just 2 or 3 games all against top 20 teams, but wins against non-top 40 during the rest of their schedule, do you rank them with a 30 - 3 record over a team that went 20 - 10 and played 15 top 20 teams? Ranking teams is a tough proposition.

Mark your calendar: Ky Prep Classic One of the top one-day events in the state again this year will be the 17th annual Kentucky Prep Classic, which will be held Jan. 10 at Montgomery County. The four-game slate feature some of the best talent in the state. The opening game pits Jeffersontown and top junior Aaron Cosby against Madison Central at 4 o'clock. J'town is slated to be one of the top five teams in the preseason, while Madison Central is one of the top teams from the tough 11th Region. Anderson County and top senior C.J. Penny will meet 16th Region power Elliott County at 5:45 p.m. Elliott County is led by Evan and Ethan Faulkner and Jonathan Ferguson. Good kid that works extremely hard and wants to keep improving. Has the opportunity to play and do well at the next level. That's all you can ask for. Look forward to seeing him again in December.

In back-to-back preseason games Holmes plays Male and then Cov Cath plays Louisville Ballard. A nice way to get a guage of things even if the games are preseason.

I agree. It will come down to North Hardin, Bardstown, Adair, and Taylor County. The 5th does have depth too. Teams like Central Hardin, E-town, and John Hardin could all create some upsets. The region is stronger than it has been in recent years.

NH defeated Bardstown just before the district loss that ended the season. Now with Johnson returning and everyone else we'll be much stronger than last year though I see your point. The schedule is tougher this year. Winning games against high caliber teams will help prove if we're elite or not.

Specifically Warren Central when it comes to be fixtures at the Sweet 16. I think coach Riley could be making another trip back this year. He's got a load of talent and Fant and Shanklin provide some balance on the perimeter and interior. Fant is one of the state's most underrated players. The 4th region and the 5th do not get much mention on this board.

LOL. I almost spilt my coffee on this one. I think athletism is to be clearly defined before you pick the sport. Football, baseball, and basketball are clearly the three sports being debated here and I would say football brings the most athletes with basketball being a close second and baseball third. Football is high speed and pure strength. The WR's have incredible speed, agility, and strength. The same as the DB's. Basketball you do have the likes of Michael Jordan and Lebron James, but football brings them in in higher numbers. As for baseball, John Kruk a former Phillies player said it best. "Hey, I'm not an athlete, I'm a baseball player."

He's a legit 6-4. I know for a fact he has an offer from Wisconsin because we have fielded calls from a coaches. Wisconsin, Evansville, Dayton, Toledo, Butler, have all offered. I also know Wake Forest may have offered recently. I'm sure there is more that I'm missing, but that's the best I can do. I did hear Jenkins' interview on ESPN radio where he mentioned Kentucky is still recruiting him and that he was at their recent Midnight Madness.

I don't know. Jenkins was more productive in both allstar games this year. Saw Hood and Jenkins ove the summer a few times during summer ball and we came away more impressed with Jenkins. Maybe the season will show Hood being better. It will be a god race.

Keyword for Hickman is aggressiveness. He's got potential, but has to be forceful.

I think 3:30pm or 5pm at Male on the 29th of Nov. I know its the 29th and one of those times.

Holmes gets a chance to prove their an elite in preseason by playing Louisville Male at their house.

I'm with North, not B'town. I think talent-wise NH is tops. I am just waiting for us to prove it. Gotta get King back from football and see how Johnson fits in and then we'll know.

Bardstown is the consensus favorite to win the region right now and rightfully so. However with the injury of DeMarco Phillips still in question regarding the season and North Hardin's return of Greg Johnson, its a close 1 and 2 between B'town and NH. Bardstown will have to replace nearly 20 points per game from Corey Hall. Hickman is a plausible replacement and will be their go-to guy. Bardstown can repeat, but its going to be somewhat tougher this year.

They are definately in the mix. The one thing they have over most teams is invaluable experience. They are a top 10 team preseason. Elliott County, along with Scott County, Holmes, North Hardin, J'town, Manual, GRC, Warren Central, and a few others will be competing for a state title this year.

What about Yorell Shemwell of Owensboro? He's a dynamic small guard at 5-9 and makes plays in the crunch. He was the sidekick of Brock Moorman that led them to a regional title out of the 3rd region last year.
