Bardstown was not very good. No guards other than Hickman to handle the ball and he struggled at times. Manual could not have asked for a better draw in the tournament. Every win is nice win especially in the King of the Bluegrass.

Of course, it's early. A lot of teams are still getting their football players back. Some teams have injuries. Keeping all of that mind, I've come up with a statewide top 15 based on the first couple of weeks of the season: 1. Bryan Station (3-0). Gotta be No. 1 with wins over Holmes, Henry Clay, Tates Creek. 2. Holmes (3-1). Last year's state runner-up looking good with win over Scott County. 3. Scott County (2-2). Looking more vulnerable than people thought they would. 4. Jeffersontown (4-0). Schedule picks up after wins over Atherton, CAL, KCD and Whitley County. 5. Elliott County (3-0). Hard to judge because schedule is weak. 6. Lexington Catholic (4-1). Only loss to Carbondale (Ill.). 7. Ballard (3-2). Losses to Scott County and Jeffersonville (Ind.). Might be too high. 8. Hazard (2-1). Finally gets basketball players back. 9. Paul Dunbar (4-0). Nice start with wins over Tates Creek, Lafayette, Doss and Knox Central. 10. Manual (3-1). And no one has consistently played at the highest level at any game or event than Jenkins. Playing the point, 2G, or forward, he gets it done. Place him on just about any other team in the state and that team becomes a regional contender or more.

The biggest areas Manual misses with Kimbro is his defense and rebounding. He played the power forward spot and rebounded extremely well. His long arms and agilities made him a versatile defender.

Let's see. Manual was 9 - 2 without Kimbro including 2 - 0 against top 20 teams. Jenkins led in scoring, led in 3 pt shooting, 2nd in rebounding, 2nd in assists, 2nd in steals, and averaged 22 points per game in wins. Manual had an outstanding summer and won handily against North Hardin in the opener. Since then has dropped 2 games against Trinity and Waggener going 2 - 2. You tell us.

Riley was fun to watch at UK's Elite Camp. He played a pure point guard role when he had some serious scorers on the wings and he did it well. Great distributor who can score.

The state is wide open this year. There is not much gap from #1 to #10. Guard play is crucial and having that one player that can provide big-game leadership is what its going to take to win four in a row.

Elliott can beat Jefferstown and Bryan Station? Do you honestly think they would go through the 7th or 11th region with just one or two losses? Please tell us they would be a lock to get out of either of those regions. The reason Scott County has lost two games is because they are playing good teams, not Morgan County and Lewis County.

I will say this about Bryan Station, they are actually proving they are a top team. Lose Shelvin Mack and doing what they are doing this early one would have to say coach Champ Ligon is as good as they come. Here's a salute for their coach and team. J'town is ahead of Manual and then there is Louisville Eastern too. Elliott County is in there along with Holmes, GRC, and Scott County. I'm putting them in no order either. Just teams that have a "chance"

Euton would struggle in the MAC conference. Its a legit conference. There are no such thing as a mid major anymore. WKU beat Louisville and Evansville rips WKU. Umass beats Kansas and MAC conference Toledo beat Umass. The state title is wide open. Believe it.

Of course he will. Scott County was simply over-hyped. They bring in two D1 talents that couldn't win in the 16th on one team and added them to what was going to be a team that was just above average. Maybe Euton and Jackson are not as good as some had advertised.

The good news is Jenkins should return before Manual sees the tougher teams on their schedule such as Eastern, Ballard, and Jeffersontown.
