Odviousely, you don't know the truth about the situation. There is more to being a coach than just winning and losing. Setting good examples for young men and women is a major part of being a coach. Also, a coach needs to realize that he is not the only coach and his sport is not the only sport at that school. He failed in both of these situations.

Maybe, next time he'll trade tapes with French:D

I know that Mercer Co. plays at McCreary Central to open their season on Dec. 2, I believe. Mercer opens the season at McCreary and then plays Wayne Co. at home. Ouch! Not very good scheduling on Mercer's part if you ask me.

Wade Upchurch was as crazy as they get while down at Monticello. Not only was he crazy but he was also a very good coach. He took Monticello (a very small school in Wayne Co.) to the state tourney in 1987.

Dude! You need to chill. I am going to take up for Maddog22 on this one because I know exactly where he is coming from. He didn't say anything about Jaggers but instead the PROGRAM. The PROGRAM consists of students, faculty, administration and the people that live in the community. In Mercer's case there is still a lot of work to be done within the administration and students to get to be a top PROGRAM. No doubt, Jaggers has a great record. Nobody disputes that!:irked:

We seem to be on the same page on this one! Mercer has what it takes as far as facilities (the sound system and bleacher system could use some updating), fan base, students and talent to make it a top notch program. I don't believe that they will ever be a pushover for anybody but they need to be willing to take it to the next level if they want to become a top notch program.

What a wierd statement!! "Just because they have a UK commitment, does not mean he is good, only that he is good enough for UK". Boy, I wish that I would have been good enough for UK! I am sure there are MANY D1 schools that would love to have a commitment from Euton.

The above game would not be close. I have not seen Highlands play this year but Mercer is not a top caliber team in 2008 and I cannot see them staying in the game with Highlands. With Mercer's inconsistencies (this year), I would be surprised if they make it to the Highland's matchup.:eek:

Rebel Man, you are exactly right! Mercer did have more talent the past couple of years but they just have not meshed. Nelson's first year was a big challenge due to the merger but the mix of a new coach and new school did not go over well with the players. Of course, everyone knows what happened last year. IMO, there is absolutely NO reason as to why Mercer should not be contending for the region title on a yearly basis! Hopefully, the new gym (it is going to be sweet) will instill some pride into the team and bring them all together.

Nelson Cundiff at Mercer Co. Mercer has a potential stud in Junior Jamel Taylor and they have a good group of Sophmores to go with him. However, outside forces may not give Nelson another season to see them mature. I hope that they leave him alone and let him get this program going in the right direction.

I agree with all of the teams except for Anderson. Anderson bought out of the home and home series when Mercer and H-Burg merged. I totally don't understand this because it was always a big gate and a heated rivalry. The only thing that I can figure is that they didn't want to get beat.:jump:

For the most part, you are correct. I have seen this with my own eyes and this is one the main reasons that I no longer officiate. However, I can only speak for my particular region.

I would be surprised at this. However, as a former official I do not remember being instructed to place myself in this position so that a coach can talk to me.

I agree! That would be a great matchup! Hopefully, this can be set up in the future. As for why, you'd have to ask Coach Jaggers because he says that nobody but St X or Trinity wanted to play them.:scared:
