Burgin did beat Mercer last year but that team was torn apart by outside sources and anything can happen when that happens.

Mercer did not play with much intensity in the first half. Taylor was saddled with 2 fouls in the first quarter and questionable subs led to a very disorganized first half.

I totally agree with you about the refs but the comment about the subs getting them back into the game?!? I am not for sure what you saw but there is absolutely no reason that McCloud should be in the game and Cinnamon on the bench. Cinnamon is their 2nd best player this year and a future stud (if he keeps working on his game) and should not be out of the game in favor of 2 (McCloud and Yeast) football players who happen to play basketball.

Burgin hands Mercer their first loss in their new gym with a 63-58 win. With Mercer's coach still out they are being coached by ex Harrodsburg coach Spencer Tatum who IMO totally blew the game for Mercer with his erractic and illogical substitution patterns. Sad, Mercer should be Burgin 10 out of 10times. Let's hope Cundiff returns sooner than later.:mad:

A couple of times. I said that Richie was the 2nd best all time high school player in KY history and I'll stand by that. Want proof? Check out his Senior year state finals game against Ballard in which he poured in 53 (I think) points against a pretty fair player by the name of Allen Houston. Who had the better all around career? Without a doubt it was Darrell Griffith.

OMG!! You have got to be kidding!!! Farmer was probably the best alltime highschool player in KY history outside of King Kelly Coleman. Chadwell was good but come on!:irked:

I have yet to see Lincoln this year but I would have to put them at the top because of the past 2 years. However, because of their close victory over East Jess and Mercer's close loss to East Jess, I would say that Lincoln's advantage is small over all the other contenders.

That's kind of the point that I was trying to make. IMO, at least 6 teams (East and West Jess, Lincoln, Mercer, McCreary, Wayne) have a legit shot at winning the region. However, any of these teams can be beat by any of the other teams in the region except for Burgin, Casey and KSD. Wiiiiiiiide open!:ylsuper:

Mercer lost to McCreary at McCreary in double OT, beat Wayne, lost to East Jessamine and lost to the 8th region's best team (Anderson Co.) by 3 points. According to your rankings they should definately be in the top bracket along with East Jessamine. This region is really weak IMO. Sad but true.

Tough scheduling at the beginning of the year. But, this should do them a world of good come later in the year when it counts. They play at home Tuesday against Pulaski Co. and then Friday against LCA. They should be 3 and 3 by the end of the week (hopefully).

Prayers are needed for Mercer coach Nelson Cundiff and family. Details are still a little sketchy but supposedly he hit some black ice and ran into a tree. Story has it that he has broken an ankle and some vertebrea and that his son was also hurt.:cry:

IMO, Penny has the body for D1 but I am not for sure that he has the skills. He was guarded all night by 5'8 Patterson and then 5'10 Jordon Yeast (football player) and he did not dominate. Penny should have dominated the game with these 2 players guarding him. Penny ended up 23 points or so but most were due to runout layups and not any particular shooting or post moves. I was not impressed with performance.

Sorry, not familiar with the 8th region officials. One of them has been reffing for a long time and looked to be about 65 years old or so. Big game such as this deserved better officials.

Anderson beats Mercer 65-62. Mercer missed a 3 pointer at the buzzer to tie. Mercer led the entire game until about 3 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. IMO, this was a terribly officiated game not only for Mercer but also Anderson. No home cooking here just terrible refereeing. :fight:

Your right! I have not seen any of the crap that went on last year. What I meant was that player A would make a bad pass to player B and then blame B for not making the catch. Sort of like player A could not possibly make a mistake.
