Roark had 221 yards on 27 carries 3TD's Watts had 174 yards on 15 carries 3 TD's he also threw for about 100 yards and 1 TD (the TD reception was made by Dustin Stephens about a 50 yarder) Plus Watts had 3 INT's on the night.

I believe it is the same thing, if the coach doesn't care who is listening to him and is being loud enough for outsiders to hear then what he is saying is fair game to players and fans a like and it is not cheating. Now, if you had a listening devise so you could here what he was saying, well, that's a diferent story! All in all the scenario that you gave it would not have been cheating for you to yell out to your team!IMHO!

What if a defensive player over hears what the coach or QB called and passed it along to his teammates? Samething in my book, it is only natural to pass it along. Now if that fan is standing right behind the coach on the sidelines with a listening devise for the sole purpose of listening to the play and then passing it along, well, that would be cheating. I gaurantee if a Highlands player over hears a play called in their opponents huddle all eleven of those players on defense will know what was called, and there is nothing wrong with it. So, to answer the question you posed, NO it is NOT cheating! Oh yea, no one is listening to the fan anyway, oh, I think someone else already said that! :sssh:

We did good, we scored once on JC and they scored once on us. We were more consitant against Casey Co. Both had very good defenses and JC has an outstanding offense. We still have a lot of work to do with the offensive line but they are much improved from a year ago. Our defense is greatly improved from a year ago and we plan to keep improving everyday. All-in-all we were very pleased with the way the players performed for their first scrimmage and we expect them to work twice as hard (now that they have seen their playing pontential) and playe twice as good in our next scrimmage. Please, if you see a football player congradulate them for their efforts and tell them to keep up the hard work. Go Raiders!

I hate to see a kid of his talents having to give up a season of his high school football career. As I was reading about this I really thought he work work things out and be carying the ball for Bell this year. I wish this young man luck for the future!

After seeing Johnson Central first hand I will tell you that they are an outstanding football team. Their defense is as agressive as I have seen and they bring it every play. They have several kids who can run the ball on the offensive side. They are not super fast but they hit the holes hard and are very quick. I look for them to do very well this year and they will be in the mix late in the playoffs again. As for the Boyle vs JC game, I hate to say one or the other because I have not seen Boyle but it will be a dog fight I am sure and should be decided by 7 point or less. Turnovers and speacial team will be the key, whoever creates the most turnovers and has the biggest special teams plays will win this game. IMHO!

Will he have to sit out a year?

McCreary has their first scrimmage tomorrow at 7:00. It will be a 3 way scrimmage with Russell Co. and Johnson Central. I hope all of the MC fans come out to support. Go Raiders.

Preston Shoopman(sr) is very fast (4.6 40 at the UK camp) and will be getting some touches in the backfield. This is only his 3rd year playing football and found a new level of confidence during spring practice. He will also play some slot receiver when in spread, like I said he is very fast and catches the ball really well. We also have a freshmen, Arlis Dopel who is a down right athlete and runs stride for stride with Shoopman, we think he will get some touches from the backfield later in the season but should get some reps at wide-out early on when the starters are needing a breather. At receivers we have Dustin Stephens(sr) and Dustin Goins(jr) who were all district players a year ago both have great hands and they are also very speedy. Dustin Stephens is probably the fastest player on our team. We also have Dylan Ross(jr) who ran a 4.6 40 at UK who will play primarily at slot receiver but may get some touches out of the backfield in spots. We also have a returning starter at slot receiver in Jason Perry(sr) who has very good hands and the experience to get the job done. Then there is our tight ends, Cody Smith(jr) 6'3" 220 and Tyson Williams(fr) 6'4" 230 both have great hands and big enough frames to be effective blockers. there are a few other skilled people who will contribute this season as well. I hope this gives you an idea of what we have to go along with Roark (who by the way is now 6'2" and goes around 215 and last weak he benched 375) and Watts (who is also 6'2" and goes 205). We think we have a very good supporting cast but only time will tell if their hard work will pay off! Strength Punishes! Speed Kills!

It was and still is a newspaper!:laugh: Hey, McCreary County has been accused of being obsessed with W.B. but I think it has been since 4/4/09 (that is 4 months) when someone (myself) last posted anything about McCreary on this thread. Sounds like there is some obsesive tendencies towards McCreary on the W.B. side of the mountain. I posted the way I did because I had some questions that I wanted answered. Those questions have been answered (4 months ago) and if you are posting just for answeres (not to get something started) then look at the KHSAA scoreboard and you will get the answer to the question you asked. With all of that being said, I will again wish W.B. luck this season and I hope R. Moses has a great year, I met his parents at a camp this year and they are real nice people. Also, it was neat seeing Moses throw the ball to Watts oh what a pair that would have made! Again good luck to the "Jackets"!

Not sure what your meaning is by repeating this but any varsity squad with 16 or more quality players is fortunate. We rarely have more than 4 or 5 so I am glad to have as many as we have now. To bad your son quit, he might be one of our quality players!:ylsuper:

27 the first day and 28 the second day and if you know anything about McCreary football those are great numbers. Usually we have 14 or 15 the first couple of days. A lot of our players can't get rides and won't be able to attend practice until school starts because of economic reasons. We have about 4 kids who will either start or play a bunch that are on vacation another 2 or 3 that have been working but have changed their schedule so they can start practice next week. about 16 of those already at practice are quality players and the reat are jv and freshmen players. We will have between 40 and 50 this year which is very high numbers for McCreary!

The first few days of the Raiders football practice have been impressive. Roark and Watts look twice as quick and powerfull as they were last year and the offensive line will be the best line McCreary has ever had which makes for a leathal combination! The numbers have been good and will have several more returning from vaction next week. It looks like the hard work in the weight-room and on the track will payoff for the Raiders in 2009 and should set the precedence for the future of the program! Good Luck Raiders and Go get'em!
