I've not seen Bell Co. use that jump pass to the TE since the Nelson-Slusher connection back in '05-'06, I had completely forgot about Dudley even having that call, but I'm sure as heck glad that he did:D.

I wouldnt say they had the BEST defense, of course I am a little biased though.:sssh: I beleive the actual final, before the forfeit was 15-10 up on Log Mountain, in a game where that little player controversy, cant quite remember what it is:sssh:, saw that player score the only two Highlands TD's of the game, one being a fumble recovery. And to these little hints at a game next year, I all I can do hearing that, . I truly loved the game with Boyle in the playoffs, two very talented teams in a clean game, respectful players and two hostile, but yet still respectful crowds up on their feet all night, doesn't get much better.

I'm not sure about that. It could happen but he's a big play threat at TE, I wouldnt look past Josh Brown being the FB next year, and beside JDH at the other LB spot, Brown is a pretty good young talent and came up big in the state championship game.

Watching the replay of the game, their was ALOT of missed oppurtunites for the Bobcats that would have normally been 6 for them, but they just didnt capitialize. BE did have some to do with it, and Bell Co. just not capitializing had some to do with it, either way it was a great and hard fought game for both teams. Real shame someone had to lose it. McCarthy for BE I really felt bad for him, he came up with play after play to keep BE in it, that kid is a beast.

15 that started, and several who were only sophomores that made a HUGE impact on the big stage, Josh Brown and Dominic Carton both look like they're going to be huge for the Bobcats in the future, plus with young Davenport returning from injury(Cory) and in my mind reclaiming the other spot at corner, I feel like Cody Davenport can be an awesome receiver for us if the passing attack continues, he stepped it up big in the playoffs, made some very tough catches and didnt drop the necessary ones. Very good looking and bright future for the young Bobcat squad next year, only 8 seniors I can think of off the top of my head.:ylsuper:

I know the season just ended yesterday and some younger kids havent had the chance to be evaluated yet, but what does your teams have comming back in the '09 season? I'm curious to hear how many starters and key players will be returning.. I'll start things off.. Bell County returns 7 starters on defense, (4 who will be seniors). Their is no real leader of this defense, these kids all just play so well and mesh together with each other. The biggest challenge will be to replace Matt Simpson at linebacker, and Tyler Harbin on the D-line. John Dudley Hilton returns after a strong soph. season, along with Keith Lowe and Matt Raines who were very big for the Bobcats all season long. Also return 4 players who will most likely move into the starting line-up that had a large ammount of playing time throughout the year will be returning as just juniors and sophmores. On offense the biggest challenge will be to replace Zachery at QB and Merrick as kicker. Bell returns 6 on offense, keeping most of the O-line in tact, and returns Carton as a junior next year who had a terrific game at Louisville, looking like he will be the feature back next year. Also, the Bobcats are gonna have to find a replacement for the big Olineman and all-state team pick Jacob King. With the return of Matt Raines at wideout and the talented group of young backs, it should be another strong season for the Bobcats in '09.

The same Bell County team your reffering to, yes. They have shown the ability to pull out the close game and make stops when needed in big situations, the defense is amazing.

Reported on WYMT.. Bell County also turned up the heat on defense. The Bobcats yielded just six rushing yards to Bullitt East in the second half Great adjustments for the Bobcat D, showing why they are ranked the best D in Kentucky. McCarthy for BE though, that kid was very good.

I'd actually like to see a Bell-Highlands match up...I think the Bobcats could hold within 10-14.:sssh: Trinity St. X Highlands Bell Ft. Campbell I think these 5 are head and shoulders above the others.

VERY very hard fought game from both teams, nothing at all to be ashamed of if your BE. No excuses, after the game I saw an interview from Zachery on Sports Overtime and he said they "slightly" overlooked BE. If thats the case, BE still showed up ready to play and wasnt going to allow a blowout, great job and great game BE. Onto Bell, :D what more can I say, STATE CHAMPS BABY!!, congradulations Bobcats!. The D in this one minus the first 2 or 3 possesions and the last possesion was absolutely amazing, and scary enough, most of the kids that came up with clutch plays will be back next year! Great year of football:D

Just to throw this out, the Junior class at Bell has lost only 4 games since they we're in seventh grade, the sophomores has lost on 1 game since seventh grade, and the freshman I beleive, are undefeated since seventh grade, so if all goes well, and these kids continue their winning way, we may be seeing Bell playing for the hardware some more in the years to come:ylsuper:. I thought Gilliam, the running back from HCHS should have atleast been honorable mention. I in no way like or cheer for Harlan, I'm very close to the Harlan/Bell border, but in no way cheer for them, but I do beleive Gilliam atleast deserves some credit.

As an outsider looking in, I'd like to offer my congradulations on a great season and a step forward to the Rebel program, and I for one am glad to see that they have returned to being a power in the class and thankfully, a public school, that looks like they are going to be contenders for some years to come. Also, congrats to Coach French as well on the co-COTY award..

Didn't even notice this, but I'm not going to continue to argue back and forth with you. I dont really have the time, and really dont see why this attempt to put me down continues, so this is the last time I'm going off topic on this thread.:sssh: Now, if I'm remembering this correctly, never once did I say just because their a hold back they wont succeed on the field, I said I think its just not right to hold a kid back and it does IMO diminish their accomplishments in a way, never once said it makes them a bad player, so I dont know where your FYI comment is comming from. I also didnt claim to know anything about Fugate, FYI. I'm going simply on stats, on highlights I've saw of him on sports overtime (very impressive ones at that) and the fact that his team is in the state championship. I'll state this again, as I have several times, I have no personal problem with the Davenport kid I hope he succeeds and does great for the Bobcats, I really do. I never once said I know his situation, if he was held back for academic reasons, thats fine there was an obvious reason behind it. For athletic purposes though is a different story, and leads into what 5wide stated about how many kids actually make it to the collegiate level for football, especially from the mountains. It doesn't happen as much as we'd like to see it happen. Thats all I have to say about this one. :thumb:

I think what hurts bell the most when it comes to the spread is a team that can run good short to intermediate routes and a QB that can make some pretty quick, smart decisions. The Bell DB's give a very large cushion to the receivers on a consistent basis. As to the running back, its hard for me to see a running back being able to break the Bell D, we've seen all types of backs this year and haven't really been hurt by them. For the last few years, the kryptonite to this Bell D, IMO is a running QB. We had Henry Clay on the ropes a few years back on Log Mountain until a guy by the name of Minnifield (sure some people remember him) absolutely lit Bell up when they played him at QB, and I've seen others do it as well, I beleive Guy may have taken a few snaps at QB last year also, not sure though.

I agree with all the points made here. Boyle was VERY solid tacklers. When i first saw thim during the pre game warm ups, I thought they were going to have a rouch time getting our backs down, but they did awesome agint the run. I hope the rematch does happen, and its as good as the game from this year, it was one of the best games I've personally ever watched, the last 5 minutes I dont think anyone from either side was able to sit down.:thumb:

If you want to compare BE to Rock, of all teams Bell has played (including Boyle) that doesn't fair well for the Chargers IMO:sssh: :laugh: Very nice. Again, I'll say it even though it cant happen and wont, I wish the Bell-Boyle game was being played Sat. instead of last week.

I've been reading quite a bit about the running game in this thread, and people saying BE may be successful with a spread. I do not see this happening what so ever. Boyle County was a top notch team with some great playmakers, I feel liek thats why they had success with their spread, plus Bell was having to keep MacShara in check at the same time. If we can hold him to only what, 36 yards, I dont see BE's rushing game hurting us much. Plus, the D can create turnovers, and make them happen fast. As to the running game, you'll definately see it. But again, do NOT be surprised if coach Hilton puts it in the air how he did vs. Boyle County if it continues to be that succesful. Boyle had a great playmaker at safety in Aumiller, which is IMO why we didnt see Matt Raines just sprinting down the field to the deep ball as much, I dont think BE has those kinds of play makers to the caliber of Aumiller thats going to make Zachery second guess the deep ball to Raines.

I stated this in the Boyle thread, and I'll say it again. With this group of Bobcats, and the desire this team and coaching staff has to end this season as the state champions, I dont think Bell County will be denied. Coach Hilton and the Bobcats finally got over that hump thats been in their way the past couple of years, and I just cannot see this Bell Co. team letting this slip through their fingers. I've never seen this group as motivated, their out on a mission this year, and I think life is gonna be VERY, VERY good in Bell County after saturday.

Bell Co's John Dudley Hilton, Dominic Carton, Cody Davenport, Ben Madon, Taylor Mills and Josh Brown will most likely play some very big roles for BC next year. John Dudley, Cody, Taylor and Josh have all seen time as starters for the majority of the season with Dominic having close to 600 yards on the season behind Greer and splitting carries with 3 others. Madon most likely will be starting on both sides of the ball. Hilton as a soph. is leading the Bell team in tackles also. Very talented young group here.

How about the Bell team this year, with size & strentgh on the line, and speed at the skill positions? A big part of the game vs. Boyle last night was our O-line (big, stong) dominating their smaller, faster D-line.

PurplePride, I've enjoyed talking to you to, I really appreciate that. You rebel fans honestly were some of the classiest people I've ever come in contact with. I walked right by a large group of Rebel fans across the catwalk after the game and didnt hear one negative comment about the Bobcats either, thats hard to come by.I'll definately be pulling for the Rebels and Bobcats both next year, I just wish they could hook up in Louisville instead.

I had a pretty good angle at this one, and as soon as i seen simpson take it, if this is the play we're talking about late, I knew that Boyle was about to get 15 yards. It was an easy call, I thought the refs did an awesome job tonight.

I was VERY impressed with the Boyle crowd tonight, I hope we meet up with you guys again, same time next year.:thumb:

I agree trenches, two BCHS' will be comming back to the mountains with some new hardware. Fugate is just to much to stop, on both sides of the ball.
