2008 Boyle County Rebels

I am starting my own thread about this team for this year because what I want to say has more to do with this team not their last game, plus they deserve it!!

I am truly humbled that my kids and I have been a part of this program for as long as we have been. The kids that were on the field this past Friday night and the last several Friday nights and many days, are amazing! I have watched them play together for years. I am saddened that this team will not be together as a team/family again on the football field again. Friday night was the last night of high school football for this group of kids, and as we have known it for a long time at my house. I cried as I watched this team, and my kids, walk of a football field together for the last time. They stuck together for years. That is why they had the year they did. Along with that, they have the best coaches, heart, drive and love for the game! That showed on the field. They never gave up!

I want to thank this Boyle County team and coaches for a great ride!!!! They made us proud!! But they always have. This team did bring the “swagger” back to Boyle Co., but not in an arrogant way. But, because they could ;)

Thank you coach French!! Coach French is truly amazing as well as the entire coaching staff! Thank you!!

As for the seniors, what can I say? I could write a novel! They are the best!! These seniors and this team brought the life back to Boyle County football. Seniors, you will be missed!

But, we will watch and cheer for you on the field (for those of you that will continue to be on a field) as well as off the field. Good luck to you! Thank you seniors!!

What a year!

Thank you so much 2008 Boyle County Rebels!!!

Great job Rebelmom. I feel very lucky that my son was only a freshman this year and has the chance to be part of a great program for years to come.

Great post, these are/were an awesome bunch of kids. They didn't know the meaning of giving up. There was a few games were I thought going into them, that we may end up on the losing end, but as usuall, they showed their toughness and unity as a "team family".

I've been supporting the Rebels since I graduated, 17 years ago, through thick and thin (and thinner). and though i've been blessed with 2 beautiful daughters and won't get to watch them on the football field, they have been raised in a rebel household, and know the tradition and heritage of the rebel community. My oldest daughter (freshman) came home from school a few weeks back with a glow on her face. I figured she just had a new crush on some boy:rolleyes:, but she was excited that they had asked her to sing the national anthem at 2 of the playoff home games. Now folks, her mom and I spend the majority of the year running this girl all around the state to sing at different events, but you would have thought she had just won that american idol or something. She was just so proud to finally have the opportunity to perform for the great fans and athletes of Rebel stadium.

To the parents of those that graduate this year, please let your boys know how proud we are of each and every one of them and their dedication to the rebel program. And to the parents of those returning, tell your young fellows to keep hitting hard because we're going to be awesome again next year:fight: GO REBELS

Hmmmmm, I am narrowing down who you may be.......;)

btw, your daughter obviously sings very well because I felt all the singers did an awesome job on the National Anthem at the games this year.

Great post!! A loyal fan base and the hard work by the coaches and players make Boyle the program it is. One of the best.

Don't mean to intrude...but Congratulations on a great season from the Bobcats. Probably the best high school football game I have ever seen....and I have seen a lot of them over the years. Classy bunch of young men on and off the field. They were truly disappointed, but still loss with grace, an uncommon trait in this day and age. The Bobcat crew are an awesome bunch of kids...and with Senior leadership....they have been on a special mission since day one of 2008. Our only regret is that someone had to lose this great game, and that it wasn't on the carpet....instead of the ice!! LOL! Good Luck next year....and look forward to a long rivalry and great football.

This one the best post I have ever read and this is what high school football is all about.:thumb:

I agree! :thumb: I too, look forward to having that arch rival(Bell County). Again, I hope these 2 teams meet up next year. That would just be down right awesome. :ylsuper:

Great post.

This was a truly awesome year for Rebel football. My son is a freshman and while he doesn't play(fingers crossed for next year!!!!) I have been watching a lot of the sophomores and freshmen since my son was in kindergarten and I couldn't have been more proud to see the team restore Rebel pride. After the last couple of years, there was a lot of uncertainty surrounding how this year would turn out. It felt good to see guys like Ben Slone and Jordan Walker return to the team to play the game they love. I think anyone who has followed the program this century knew that the talent to win has never left Boyle County. We needed this year to re-establish ourselves and while we may have fallen short in the ultimate yearly prize, I think in the long term this year will pay off because we definitely have gotten our swagger back. My heart went out to all the boys on the team after last Friday, especially the seniors because for some it may be their last game. One thing is for sure, the Rebels are back. I am really proud of each and every Rebel and I truly enjoyed coming to watch this team play on Friday nights. I will always remember this year.
