This thread has gone on without the mention of Travis Elliot. Has anyone seen him lately? Hard to imagine he is 16...He and Mace and possibly Mac Vollet will be attacking the LOS very hard this year.

2008 vs. Henry Clay. HC was young but had more speed than Boone had ever seen. The difference there was turf v mud. 2004 vs. Dixie. Dixie had their best team ever.

Ummm...Ryle did not take a thumping by Highlands or SK. Not the least. In fact Ryle/Highlands games were both pretty good games; the first game a couple long runs by AC put the game out of reach and the second game, some nice late run and pass plays did the same. SK controlled the ball and utilized their offensive diversity to get and keep an early lead. SK game was a little more out of hand but the weather was horrendous. It was not T it was X that played Ryle and X had too much depth for Ryle...and everyone else in the state. To say Ryle did not benefit from the schedule is crazy. They did benefit, especially the many, many underclassmen starting on that team. Similar situation back in 05 and 06. Ryle gets blasted by Glen Este in opening game in 05 but played them very well in 06. Glen Este was actually 3rd best team in the city that year, which was equivalent to top 5 in state. 2010 is Ryle's 06. :sssh:

If a Soph is good enough to play on the field, he will help the team. If a soph is playing out of need, it's obviously not a good situation. No offense, but I think your statement is a little soft. Several Sophs can play on Winning teams, if they are ready to play...according to posters, Cooper's freshman team was legit and are ready to see the Varsity field as Sophomores. If that is the case, they are one year away from cracking the top ten. Last year, two sophs started for Highlands en route to the State Championship...One started because he was the best for the position, the other out of necessity.

Can you name their five wins? I just don't see it happening. :idunno:

Arguably the most difficult Raider to replace. With that being said, look for a very strong, fast, and athletic group of seniors in the Raider secondary.

Seniors are always difficult to replace, especially ones who have had an enormous impact on their team. But Ryle has improved numbers and depth and I believe they will be better defensively, despite losing the aforementioned seniors. Mace is a tackling machine

I strongly disagree. When you throw 40 to 50 passes per game, you tend to throw for more yards. I think he is a very impressive QB...but to denote someone the clearcut favorite without much validity is...hmmm. :idunno:

My quote was intended to be biggest quarterback prospects.. "big" literally and figuratively. He may not be a 4'7 kid but who actually is. Middle of the pack speedwise is all relative to the speed of the top of the pack:walk:

The word is WKU. Hempel will receive quite a few more. He is probably one of the biggest prospects in recent NKY history....his size and deceptive speed will earn a lot of coaches respect. For those who are skeptical of his speed, watch the Ryle BB team. He is one of their top base stealers.

Maybe Lawrence can even throw to Lawrence? SK seems to be that good...

You guys have me convinced...I am on the SK bandwagon. How were we so blind to realize their dominance was here to stay....wait..I suddenly remembered Ryle beating SK 110-0 over two seasons, just a few years ago. But UKfan36, you were probably too busy playing little league football then. Times have changed and yes, SK is very good. But they just graduated the best back in NKY since Shaun Alexander. You won't be the same partner...not even close.

I watched Compton play last year on JV and he does not look like a HHS RB. He looks like a guard...however, i know you Birds fans are going to say "his speed and size is deceiving"....but I think he looks like a NG. sorry

Ryle will have their largest and deepest senior class this century...A D1 caliber quarterback, a D1 potential athlete in the backfield, and a senior laden offensive line. With that being said, I believe their goal is beyond Simon Kenton...but they are one of the many obstacles towards their ultimate goal. :thumb:

I vote they eliminate spring football to appease baseball and track. Then they eliminate AAU basketball and summer and fall baseball. Allow kids to play school sports and quit focusing on non-HS athletics. :thumb:

So you are saying that you would attempt to get a coach or teacher fired based on your interpretation of their performance and your son's well being? I would empathize with your concern but strongly disagree with you. I have participated in this discussion since page one and it has gotten nowhere. The original topic was the issue of Highlands challenging the ruling by the KHSAA and I still stand by saying that they should be happy with what they received. There are many posters on here that are obviously still disgruntled over the issue and have a sour taste in their mouth when they think of the Birds. But I don't believe it has tainted their reputation because no one has been discussing this matter the past four years. Let it go! :ohbrother:

There is a difference between setting the bar and plateauing. And yes I did say plateau, if you think you may have read incorrectly. :sssh: However plateauing still may be good enough to win a state championship. I say this because i think it is going to be difficult to surpass this group. And this group, IMO, isn't their best under Mueller. There is a difference between Highlands haters and Highlands haters. I hate Highlands. I hate them for several reasons but also respect their successes. I don't hate on Highlands. I give them credit when credit is due at the same time I call them out on faults and misconducts. Once schools stop being intimidated by the image, maybe they will start hating as well and end the birds reign. But until then, they are the #1 team. 20n10 :puke:

DIII and NAIA schools are too expensive and unless you intend on getting a "special" education, it mis most likely not worth it. Some have the desire to continue playing past their final game in HS. Mostly everyone will always have the, "what ifs". But as said before, it is truly up to the individual.
