This would be a great REAL game to see between these two. I don't think anyone can say one or the other is hands down better without them playing in a real game situation.

I seriously doubt that, especially given the fact you couldn't beat Perry Central 1 out of 1 times. Come to our place and give it a try and see how it works out. If you think you could beat HC 9 of 10 playing 5 at each place, well I'll leave it at that...

Speaking of Powell Valley...and supersonic....How cool is it to watch the Jones' play in the NFL! I would have love to see them play in HS.

I think HC will win this game, but I'll tell ya this...pay particular attention to the Graham kid who is a freshman for Lee. Better know where he is at all times becasue he can go supersonic.

From what I saw...Bell brought the soph studs...HC did not...that simple. I'm not saying the outcome would have been different, but I think it would have been more difficult for Bell. Also I noticed some very gifted freshman didn't dress for HC. I would like to see a full roster of freshman and sophmores for both teams play. What I saw was HC playing only sompmores that didn't start varsity as an opportunity to get game experience in that class. The freshman were left out because they will get opportunities in freshman only games. Personally, although HC lost, it is sound tactic to get experience against quality for that group.

One thing for sure! There WILL be slobber flying in this one. This could be one of the best JV games in East KY.:ylsuper: May have to take the grill to this one too...lol.

I am glad you ask JP55. This give us an opportunity to discuss something that has been a bit of a touchy subject here in Harlan County, on a state level. IT has caused quite a contraversy and even created a situation in the school board election where an individual won the election who favored playing holdbacks only to have a group cry foul and demand a new election. The situation became more messy when one of original group the canidates decided not to run. Those votes shifted to the individual who did not favor allowing the holdbacks to play. This situation is EXTREMELY messy still to date. The simple fact is that a group of parents are wanting to protect their kids right to play, rather than have a holdback take that spot. Harlan is a small school, a very good school but small. To ever compete athletically there are going to have to catch up the ground they have fallen behind in the last couple of years, and the only way to do so is to change their view. There is also certian group there whose sole focus is academics and want no part of "smearing the perfect academic image" they believe Harlan to have by showing interest in sports. I am sad to say as the parent of a 2007 HHS graduate, I have seen this longtime comming. The 2004 & 2006 teams were very special groups. 10+ Seniors in each and all pretty good athletes, but this is very rare at HHS. Until some things change in how athletics are viewed at HHS I am afraid this might continue for a while. There is a good group coming from middle school, but for now we wait.:confused:

I was at the game at Pikeville you guys are speaking of. Cumberland had Massey, Tinsley, Baskin, Ravazee on that team to name a few. Baskin went down with a knee injury seems like late in the first half. Seems like there were some um, circumstances that game. I cant remember if the score was 8-6 or 12-8 but I believe Cumberland had a TD called back on a mystery penalty. So I'm not sure Frazier shoould shoulder all the blame on that. Phillips I spoke of, is Larry Phillips. As a prepster corrected me a couple of years ago, He had a state runner up team at Lincoln Co. Also in that mix of Coaches was Ron Cain who won a state title at Seneca in 65, and a state runner up at Cumberland in 86. In 86 Cumberland prolly would have won the game had Maggard not broken his left wrist. Ended up losing 12-8.

AGREED! Also, Saylor was a very good coach. Phillips and Frazier were not chopped liver.

I disagree. I know of a Kid in 06 that was 2nd team all-state. Got ZERO offers in D1 or 2. A very few in III.

AGREED! In the prediction post I made reference to the speed of GIlliam and Simmons. There were a couple of other bears I failed to mention. Didn't want to give up all the lowdown. Something I noticed was #8 for LCC had some speed himself. LCC QB is a manchild:thumb: Good job to both teams...See you LCC fans next year hopefully in the "New Bear's Den"

I did a drive by LCC Field today. The facility looks killer! People were everywhere cutting grass on the hill at the entrance, mowing the field above the parking lot, you could just feel the preparation for a "BIG GAME". As for parking, I spoke to the grounds keeper that was mowing the lot. He said that they use the grass field above the parking lot and had another huge field at the top of the ridge they shuttle people from when needed. While I was there something occurred to me...They have turf! Folks if you think Simmons and Gilliam look fast on grass....wait until you see what turf does for their speed. I am telling you, if either one of these kids get loose the authorities will have to set up a road block in Isom to catch them. LCC defense will have to play a serious game of assignment football. Until LCC met Highlands last year I seriously doubt they saw the speed these two will bring. Wel..Hazard also had exceptional speed. I cant wait!:dancingpa
