  1. Boyd co has several key players that returns and should make a very good showing in the region if every one will back the coaches and players. I am not saying they will win the region but Ido look for them to be greatly improved.
  2. Great job from a great young man and athlete.
  3. By the way congratuations to the Lions. They are a great bunch to watch.
  4. Hey, I thought the 14th would be one of your favorites. By the way what is wrong with Lee. I thought they would be better than what they are playing.
  5. Where is the panaroma this weekend and at what times.
  6. Doesnt surprise me to see Archie Reese win the 3 point shoot out. His dad was a real good shot from deep outside. Cannot remember if they had the 3 point shot back then. Still cannot wait to see this team play.
  7. Would love to see the dunk contest since I am off work but took a local 5th grade team to coach and we have a game. Lee sounds like a very good lineup with the new kid and the players that are returning. Sure wanted to make the games tonight but guess Ill have to wait until another game.
  8. I too had heard how bad Boyd looked during the summer and this must be a total different bunch. I knew with Davey Wooten that they would press and run all over the floor the whole game and they did. Looks like Dave is going to use alot of players and that is great because there was more talent there than I had heard. I am not saying that they may beat alot of good teams but you better not take them lightly. I am real happy for Dave and hope he gets the time it will take to bring Boyd back to the great years they have had. great looking bunch of kids. I was disappointed to here last night that several good players on the football team was not going to play. My kid did not play his Soph. and senior years and he has already regretted it. You only have one chance to play high school ball and especially for someone like Davey and Phil Pratt who are wonderful people.
  9. Forgot to mention that his mom graduated from Boyd Co. Sure would liked to had him at Boyd.
  10. He played JV ball and dressed varsity ball last year. He is one great kid and from a very good family. With hard work and a chance to play more at Rose Hill he could become a very good ball player before graduating. He is also a very talented pitcher in baseball. A very good catch for the Rose HILL PROGRAM. I hate seeing him leaving th East Carter program. Best wishes to him and his family.
  11. Congratulations to Dave. I feel if any body can bring Boyd back to the good years it will be you. It might take awhile and I hope you get the time and backing you will need. Very proud of how hard you have worked with the kids since Phil Pratt brought you on the staff.
  12. I too have a soft spot for Lee Co westsider and would love to see them get back to the sweet sixteen since I was a player on the last Lee team to make it in 1973. They have had alot of good thems that I thought would make it back but it shows you how hard it is to make it back to the big show. Especially for the small counties. That is one reason I have enjoyed reading this thread on small counties and schools.
  13. Thanks alot for the information. I had also heard Dave was named coach and really am proud of Dave on how hard he has worked to finish his education and make it to this level of coaching. I met Dave when we both were playing in the state touranament in 1973 and playing for different teams and then began working together later in life. He will be the best coach these young men can have.
  14. As you can see I am a new member and do not know who any of the code names are so I wouldnt know who the professor is. I just seen your quotes about Lee County and I wanted to keep up with any information about them because I would love to live back in Lee but I am not able to. You seem to have a good following of Lee so I will tell you the other state touranament team was 1973. I was a member of that team. The Larry Stamper team of 1968 was of my opinion the best team Lee has ever had. I loved watching them as a young boy. I will always be a Lee Co. person no matter how long I have to live away.
  15. Thanks alot for the answers from both of you. I knew if Gold Sunrise read this I would get a answer. I think I met Gold Sunrise during the state tournament but I am not sure.
  16. When is there going to be a coach named. I keep hearing rumors from good sources that he has already been picked, but has not been named in the papers. Also I heard that Rick Griffith has withdrawn his application because of getting a vice principals job. Just wondering what everyone has heard.
  17. Sorry the topic is the smallest counties in the state, but I still believe that Lee Co. is smaller than some that is listed.
  18. Theres is another topic being talked about on Bluegrass about smallest school enrollments and the ones that have went to the state tournament. If I am not mistaken Lee County is smaller than some of the schools mentioned. I would like to ask some of you from Lee what the enrollment is at Lee Co. I left Lee 31 years ago and am still a avid fan and follow my hometown closely. I love to hear that things are going good for them.
  19. No one said they had Scott county talent. Very few thems do.
  20. I would hate to be the one making this coaching decision because they are a lot of deserving people who put in for this job. You know I hate for kids to read on here were some adult wrote that there is not alot of talent coming back. Please think of the kids when writing something like that. It could be your kid that someone is writing about one of these days. Kids hear a lot of bad stuff wrote and said about them these days that should not be said. Let them work hard and enjoy the sport.
  21. I agree Nathan Sutton would be a great young coach in any program and I would love to see him at Boyd Co. since Greenup does not seem to want to give him a chance, But Dave Wooten and Rick Griffith has put many years and time into this program and deserves the chance first. Pete Fraley is also a good coach but has always let it be known that he more than likely will stay with the girls job at least until his daughter is gone. Any of the 4 coaches mentioned would tickle me and be a gret choice since they are all good men and would love the kids and help them to become better men in life.
  22. This would be a great choice if made. Dave would work with the kids and care more about them all through the rest of their lives.
  23. This is great to hear Peyton is moving on to the next level. I am sure that this is not the last level that he can climb to with how hard he works and the talent he has. My son has played baseball against Peyton every since 5 years old and we have enjoyed being around Peyton and his family alot. I will have to own up that I worked hard to get him to move to our school since really he is from there. But I lost out.
  24. I heard the same thing, What is up with people telling that he has the job if it is not true.
  25. Lawerence Co might have lost some good seniors but they have enough back that they should very well make a great run for the championship again. You do not have to be from Lexington or Louisville to be able to make it back to Applebees every year. Eastern Ky. has alot of young returning players that can make it to the next level.
