Most schools football teams get no money from the school. They have to raise everything. Some don't even get to keep their gate money or concessions. If you are having to pay for buses, uniforms, shoulder pads, pants, girdles, pads, referees, reconditioning, mouth pieces, field usage fee's (yes, there are some schools that have to pay to use their own field) etc... These amounts add up and at most places its hard to fundraise all of that money. Also, some schools themselves charge an athletic fee to particpate in sports.

Thanks for proving my point. I overlooked Butler. Other than Male, Lexington schools are on par with Louisville schools. EVEN WITHOUT OPEN ENROLLMENT. It isnt helping the Louisville schools, other than Male, and I do believe their entrance requirements are different than other schools, but back to point it is not helping the other 15 schools in Jefferson win a state championship.

What other 6A public school in Louisville has won a state championship besides Male? I am pretty sure the answer is none! So we are kinda beating a dead horse because other than Male, Louisville 6A is in the same boat as Lexington 6A.

Yes, I believe so. Maybe Minnifield? Anyway, besides Male winning 3 state titles, no other 6A team in Louisville competes with Trinity and St. X. Trinity and St. X have won all but 13 State titles at the highest class since 1975. Male won 3. Who else in Louisville competes with X and Trinity? Everybody wants to know when Lexington 6A can get on par with X and Trinity, but in essence, Louisville 6A doesnt compete with Trinity and St X.

The player that went to Michigan was from Lex Cath I do believe. They also had the QB who went to NC State and is at UL now.

Guys, the super does not dictate who they principal hires or what job he hires him for. I am sure that some coaches in Fayette County teach in-school suspension or something similar that does not take the work and planning as teaching in the regular classroom.

He really didnt impress me too much at the State Championship game. I am not saying that he terrible or anything, maybe he just had a bad game. His kickoffs were very low and field goals didnt have a lot of height or depth on them. Once again, could have been an off game because he put up some good numbers.

Yes, Eric Shelton Played at Station. Looking at their website, Fayette County pays head football coaches 9200, which is not a bad sum of money when compared to other districts. I saw that a first year coach in Jefferson County only made like 4,200. Thats a pretty big difference. The majority of high schools require head coaches to be teachers, not just Fayette County. Also, Henry Clay has not been mediocre the last 3 years. 11-2 2007 Lost to Trinity 12-2 2006 Lost to Trinity 12-2 2005 Lost to Trinity looks to me like they have been pretty dang good and gotten beat by trinity (just like everyone else, including male)

If you look at the mid to late 90s there was a lexington school playing in the state title game 4 times. Since 2000, none. Not saying this is the main reason, but since 2000 and on you had the rise of Lexington Catholic and Lexington Christian both being really good programs A lot of the talented football players in Lexington choose to go there. If you didnt have those two private schools getting some of the best athletes, then I really think there would be several more visits by Lexington schools to the title game this decade..

I think the paper said that Channing Fugate from Breathitt had over 3000 for the season. I have not heard of anybody else with that many.

Public Louisville schools really don't have feeder programs. There is no middle school football, only youth leagues. So any given public high school might get a variety of players from multiple youth league teams. These teams have different systems and coaching. When they get to their public high school, that team might have a different scheme and even different coaching. This turns into a hodge podge of players and understanding of football. Teams that have great feeder programs usually dont encounter this problem.

I agree. Although South had several seniors that were pretty good such as Kollenburg, he was surrounded by freshmen/sophomores. If those numbers you mentioned are correct and they all stay out, then they should be really solid in a few years.

South didnt seem to have the type of talent as Oldham County. Oldham County has several studs, with a few of them getting D-1 looks.

How do you get an 85% chance? How is that calculated? Anyways, someone just took that job about 6 months ago and open again?
