  1. I agree. I'd also say Holmes could make the same argument for being ahead of Boone. Just recently did Boone start playing better. Holmes overall body of work is much more impressive.
  2. Actually it was by a combined 30 points...:lol::thumb:
  3. I think this is probably the most accurate top 10 I've seen this week.
  4. Wow, no need for the comment regarding a former Holmes player who is at Cincy St playing college ball right now. Henderson is probably one of the nicest, most humble kids you'll ever meet and has nothing to do with this conversation. Whether it's Georgetown or Cincy St, he is still furthering his education which is the most important thing. BTW, pretty sure he'll be wearing blue and white here in about a year. :sssh: As far as Mcfarland, playing teams close is nice, but the fact still remains, outside of the win against Holmes, he really didn't lead Boone to any signature wins this year. On the other hand, Ricardo led Holmes to SEVEN wins against top 25 teams, as well as a win over preseason, and current #1, Scott Co. I believe they're the only KY team who can say they did that. :sssh: Again, Mcfarland is a nice player but has accomplished no where near as much as Ricardo this year. If the Boone fans want to use ONE win as their "one shining moment," have at it...Don't get too caught up in the moment though...I have a feeling it's about to come to an end here in about two weeks. :thumb:
  5. I plan on getting there around 4:15 to stand in line...weather is supposed to be nice today so it shouldn't be too bad. I'll send you updates throughout.
  6. I agree they're playing better than Holmes...which is why I said they're the favorite. :thumb:
  7. Wouldn't it make it easier on Ferg having 3 other good players around him, as teams can't double team him and key on him? It's much tougher for a person to score when you're the focus of every defense night in and night out. Truly a great accomplishment though.
  8. 1. Boone Co (6) 114 2. Holmes (6) 113 3. Highlands 91 4. Scott 69 5. Ryle 61 6. Newcath 48 7. Beechwood 47 8. Campbell Co 36 9. Conner 24 10. Newport 21 Boone finishes the season as the Enquirer NKY Boys Poll Champs. Looks like they're the favorite heading in to the post season...let the games begin. :sssh: http://nky.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/AB/20090224/SPT0302/902240403/
  9. Also, for those who were wondering: The two victories for Beechwood over Covcath this year are their only two W's over Covcath since Rick Schumate's senior year at Covcath in 81-82. Also, the last time CCH didn't make the region tourney was in 96-97. I believe they had the longest run of straight region tourney appearances snapped last night.
  10. A very nice story in today's paper about the win and Coach Schumate...I recommend reading it: Beuttel Aces Covcath Tears welled in Rick Shumate's eyes minutes after Beechwood High School on Monday recorded what he called its "signature" victory in his two seasons as boys' basketball coach. The Tigers' 63-56 comeback win over Shumate's alma mater, Covington Catholic, in the opening round of the 35th District tournament at Holy Cross' sold-out Finn Activity Center was wholly satisfying for the coach. And yet, it also left Shumate feeling a void. "To not have my dad here to experience this with me is kind of hard," Shumate said. Rest of story: http://nky.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/AB/20090224/SPT0302/902240402/

  12. No surprise here. Sayre really isn't that good of a team.
  13. Not that big of a surprise here. TC has been playing well as of late and Dunbar has struggled some, to say the least.
  14. Nice win for the Cats. Not the type of performance I'd want to see though if I'm the coach, considering they now have the Birds on Wednesday.
  15. We all have to remember that depsite what we think, it was the COACHES that voted on this. When it's your peers who select you for an award, it should be held in much higher regard IMO. AGAIN, all those nominated were well deserving and it's somewhat disrespectful to try and take away from this recognition that they're receiving because of a personal bias.
  16. Congrats to Cooper on their first postseason win ever
  17. From what I heard, you would have thought he didn't dunk at all. Thanks for clarifying though.
  18. Doubtful...but that's why they play the game. We'll find out tomorrow. :thumb:
  19. As do I. BTW, glad to see you're back buddy!! :thumb:
  20. As for the game, congrats to the Tigers on the W. I've said all year long they were the second best team in the 35th and they proved they were the better team tonight, despite what some people think. They showed a lot of character being able to come back from 9 down. Give Beuttel some credit for hitting those big shots. Whoever wins the Holmes/HC game tomorrow night, will be in for a battle come Friday night.
  21. A certain CCH fan that I was speaking with during the game told me Romes' dunk was nothing special....considering there's been 4 people on here say it was pretty impressive, I'll take your guys word for it over theirs. :thumb:
  22. A lot more people get nominated for that than you think. Arrez Henderson was nominated for it last year as well.
  23. Do you honestly think they're going to shut him down two times in one season? If Pittman keeps his head and doesn't worry about "talking trash", I see HC having a tough time controlling him, especially with Arnold on the floor with him this time.
  24. Very legit points, but in all honesty, Rico has been much more consistent the whole year againt top teams, hence him getting the award and Mcfarland being the THIRD leading vote getter....that let's you know that the COACHES think both Pittman and Rico are much more important to Holmes' success than Mcfarland is to Boone's success.
