  1. You didn't go there@$!#
  2. There are only two grade 6 in NKY and maybe 20 in southern ohio and they are getting the top games at the older ages so if you get a 7 (maybe 5 in nky) or 8 that is pretty good you are doing alright.
  3. No the ones who are mad about their games refs.
  4. HS refs are graded 1 2 3 with 3 being the highest. To become a 3 you need 7 years service and a 90 on an open book test. Not a good berometer compared to club where you actually get assessed. I did hear that the coaches would be able to assess refs this year for hs but I don't know if coaches are participating or if makes a real difference to the assigner.
  5. Now wait if it's a physical match most people want the cr to take control if he doesn't than we get altercations. I'm not disagreeing that some of them want to be the center of attention but at the same time they need to have his presence felt by both teams. This is the art of game management (22 teenagers your trying to keep their heads in the game) I assuming these were Lexington refs.
  6. Agreed depth is a problem for most teams but a coach needs to find some minutes to get his mids a breather. The alternative is great conditioning.
  7. SK has two really good strikers and the midfield seems to hold it's own but depth might be a problem in games against top teams.
  8. That's correct I keep going back to my ohio roots. Please fix
  9. You would think the pay difference would be easy to fix but the schools keep saying no to more money. What makes it even more upsetting is when refs in other parts of the state make substantially more. I bet most people don't know that the CR for varsity and the jv will make the same amount at the end of the night.
  10. Any details just saw the score on the scoreboard.
  11. Holmes gave up 2 goals to grant county in the first twenty minutes.
  12. Games are scheduled months in advance so scheduling the week of is near impossible. The pool of refs is shrinking and the pay is less than club pay in most cases. NKY refs are supposed to cover mason county to carroll county and from the river to Owen county. I pointed out weeks ago that Scott schedule was short games and it's not like club where you can schedule the week of because most refs in club are from ohio. In Ohio all jv games are two man and a third comes in for varsity there are no triple headers. Yes soccer uses arbiter.
  13. Wouldn't that be nice if KY had a coaches poll where all the coaches participated
  14. Not so sure about that as HHS has failed to beat any of that top competition and NCC has victory over St Henry. Should be a great game and atmosphere.
  15. Nice win for Boone and NKY. LC probably didn't like a grass field.
  16. Coaches are supposed to have schedules turned in last April I believe.
  17. Yes this Thursday is spreading the refs very thin. I know of some varsity games that will only have two refs as it is. There are a lot of refs who have kids playing and that shortens up availability also.
  18. No points for playing Ohio teams but it sure makes CCH better come tournament time.
  19. Sorry riherds has it 0-0
  20. Problem is some referees don't know what a good slide tackle looks like. I've been a coach, ref, and parent and sometimes I shake my head at some of the fouls given. Slide tackle needs to be so that the player gets the ball first and does not go through the player ie. Straight in or from the side but gets the legs at the same time. Basically the ball changes direction and the offensive player falls over the defender. If the ball is on his foot probably a foul if it's out in front than chances are it's a good tackle.
  21. I guess that's why they play the games. Just saw the score on the scoreboard and thought what the heck is going on in the 9th region. Seems very even except for the blue colonels. Of course we have only played three weeks.
  22. I would like to hear the discussion between the cr and the AR after the game.
  23. Doesn't sound like a card was in order.
  24. Another pk it's an epidemic. Was the foul committed by the last defender? Sounds like it could have been a red card foul.
  25. Actually I already posted a positive note on Scott yesterday. Well played Scott Eagles hope the season goes well and good luck against BB or Montgomery county in regionals and Cov Cath in the sweet sixteen. Yesterday, 10:11 AM #17 imsays imsays is online now Not true. A player for Scott was given a pk and a defender quickly yellow carded only to have the kid from Scott tell the CR he just tripped. The card was rescinded and no pk. I heard this second hand but I do admire the sportsmanship. StXBomber88 and hoops5 like this.
