Highlands has always benefitted from having a FTJrFL. More kids playing gives the HS team more options at all the positions. They use rules for weight, playing time and formations so that fundamentals are first and results are second. It results in many more freshman at tryouts. They may struggle as freshman but when the coaches get a year to mesh the boys together it really works. It's hard to see the big picture as a parent who wants to see their kid play more until you see all the boys on the field and the trophies in the front lobby:thumb:

The Bluegrass schedules are out and this year they let the teams decide if they were an A, B, or C. The schedule says that Beechwood is fielding a freshman, JV, and varsity mens team.

Agreed most schools are hoping for a freshman to show up on campus that can lift a program (Treadway, Juniet, Lewis) . Cov Cath you have to wait your turn as the numbers grow year after year. They might evolve into the soccer version of the Highlands football program.

Jeremy played two freshman and a sophomore when he took Highlands to the finals in 2008

I guess that incoming freshman who will be playing for a national championship in a couple weeks will be on JV. Cov Cath is going to look like St. X with 24 players on the roster and quality throughout. I think the Cov.Cath. fans are guardedly optimistic:eek:

Cov.Cath definitely the class of nky and I'm having a hard time thinking who would give them a challenge but we all know they have a hard time getting out of the region. This might be the year they get out of their own way and move on to the sweet sixteen.

How many students do Beechwood lose to Cov.Cath and NDA because they don't have soccer? NCC, BB and HC manage to have soccer programs and football programs. The football team practices on the grass field they call a soccer field when the soccer team has the field that's how all the other schools handle it. VOR you have just gave all the proof people need to figure out why Beechwood didn't have soccer. Believe it or not I'm sure there are 20 boys that don't play football that would love to participate on their schools team.

If their field does not have soccer lines that would be a crime. To not think of all students that would benefit is unconscionable. EX: Boone County

The field wouldn't be an issue if the board would have allowed a former football alum to install synthetic turf. JMO Worst decision ever, really had the kids in mind on that one. All the tax money in Boone county and they cant get the HS fields turf. Maybe they should ask the Bengals for some help, they have grants for fields.

While he may not been named a captain he can mostly definitely be a leader by his play and his actions on the field. The player that raises all his teammates play is the true leader and I'm sure all the players on the team know who that is.

They track yellows in MRL and KPL but I don't know if there is any penalties tied to the amount of yellows. Those games are played all over the state so inherently there is some inconsistencies. Players have to play the game the way the game is being called. No different than basketball fouls or a baseball strike zone its part of the human element that is a part of all games. I will tell you sometimes no matter how many cards are given some games are very difficult to keep control of at the older ages.

I heard the tracking of yellows will be done this fall and also the state final was a factor in the decision. Not sure if there will be penalties handed out or if its just to be tracked. I think the powers at be think its mostly a NKY thing and tracking would prove their point.

Let's say there is two seasons the regular season and the post season. I would not call them scrimmages and I'm sure the players wouldn't think that. A lot like the NCAA basketball season.

That is an impressive get for SK. After most schools take the easy choice when it comes to soccer coaches sounds like SK got a program maker. I'm wondering did Robert seek SK out or if SK did some due diligence and found the best candidate?
