futbalfan Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Good luck to all the local HS futbolers playing in KY State Cup prelims this weekend as well as those playing President's Cup finals in 2 weeks along with those fortunate enough to play in State Cup semis/finals. Best wishes to them all and before anyone reminds me about those local ballers playing in OS, congrats to all of the locals who played this past weekend in the OS Semis/Finals of which I saw a couple of them playing.
futbalfan Posted May 26, 2015 Author Posted May 26, 2015 Looks like the following KY boys teams have areas HS players advancing to State Semis. Good luck to them all. U15: KHA Red and NKSA Cagle U17: KHA Red NOTE: U18 has a couple CCH seniors playing for LFC that won State Cup and going to regionals. Don't believe there are any other locals on non local clubs advancing.
Yellow Card Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 As luck would have it, in the U15 group, KHA Red and NKSA play each other in the Semis... I would like to have seen an all NKY final but it is not in the cards.

groinpull Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 I believe Treadway's U18 team won for CUP as well right?
futbalfan Posted May 26, 2015 Author Posted May 26, 2015 yes to both. I was aware but was waiting until after KY state cup to post updates for both and all those going to regionals. I was one of the guys in striped shirts at OS state weekend you were probably yelling at btw. There is a push in KY to change to the same format as OS with prelims played in season and the Semis and Finals over one weekend all together in order to give those teams going to Regionals more time to rest and prepare. I prefer not to pull out individual names and get into the whole personal plugging which is why I just list team names else this turns into a private promotional plug instead of a general acknowledgement of all those from NKY playing at such a high level.
soccerforlife Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 KHA U17 Red plays Rovers for the Championship on Sunday @ 10 central
Yellow Card Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 KHA U15 Red plays LFC White in the finals tomorrow @ 10 CST..... a rematch of last year.
Yellow Card Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 KHA U15, and U17, boys were both able to pull out wins today, both are headed to Regionals next month. 15's won 3-1 17's had to pull it out in PK's after playing to 0-0 draw after 120 minutes.
WatThe Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 The U15s had a pretty easy draw and won finals without too much pressure. The U17s was a great match, hard fought all the way. One of the most physical, badly reffed games I've seen since the high school soccer season. The Rovers keeper is a big, 6ft 5in player, very good at his job, making several great saves throughout State Cup prelims and finals. Rovers defense fought hard in the finals, and yet again the goalie made great saves. They hoped to go to a shoot-out because of their confidence in their keeper, however when it got down to the PKs they weren't prepared for the KHA goalie who made a great save, and the 5 perfect penalty kicks from KHA. Very solid performance both weekends by Lannon and Dehner from St. Henry, and Day and Kenny from Cov Cath. Good luck in Regionals guys!
Yellow Card Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 FYI on the Rovers keeper, he is only 15 years old. PK Shootout was great to watch. If I remember correctly, both goalies got their hands on 2 shots but Jared was able to get a stop on one that he got too, and Bryce buried the last PK for the win.

The U15's gave up a goal in the first 10 minutes off a turnover in the defensive third. They responded with the equalizer about 10 minutes later and took the lead for good by notching their second goal just 5 minutes after the first. I did not think Kenny played the first weekend???
soccerforlife Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Kenny did not play the first weekend as he was in Hawaii. I have to say that it was a solid performance from the whole team!
Yellow Card Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 From what I saw in both of their matches, I would agree completely.
