Good Luck in KY State Games

I made it down to finals but not prelims. I spoke to the KHA U17 coach and in fact Kenny was not present during prelims although from the results it didn't appear he was needed.

Also spoke with a parent of a Rovers player. Apparently, and I may have misunderstood, that keeper was playing up and has been a pool player for the national team in his age group which I could easily see as along with height he had long arms, very quick both foot and hand speed as well as being active and strong on the crosses and corner kicks.

Rovers played it smart when their center mid went out on a direct red card with the kick to Bryce Day and the CR literally standing 5 feet away. From then on it was just trying to move the ball and keep possession with an occasional long ball to see if they could get one. I have to hand it to the Rovers players they had to hold that up for the last 15 or so mins of regulation and both 15 min OT periods.

The PKs went as it usually does which is a slight mistake by a kicker. In this instance the 4th Rover kicker seemed to place it and took too much off the speed of the ball. The KHA keeper who had got his hands on 2 of the 3 previous but were just too well struck to stop got a full hand on the 4th kick and pushed it aside. I think a more powerful strike would have made it in but just my opinion. Either way, both sides should be commended for a great game to watch.

In terms of the CR in the game, I've seen him before. Believe it or not at one time he was a national ref doing very high level games. He does many college games and he's pretty consistent in that he lets the boys work it and rarely inserts himself into the game. Believe it or not that was one of the milder games I've seen in terms of physicality he was the CR. Not exactly my style but he is consistent and the boys usually figure out pretty early in the game. This only adds to the respect i have for those players who battled 120 mins plus added time then having to compose themselves for a 2-3 second action with the result on the line.

First I'd heard that Rovers had to play a man down. Didn't realize that.

The Rover goalie has been to Europe twice with the US National team and has also participated in tryouts with European Clubs.

Where does he go to High School?

Male HS. Not sure if he will play club. Only played this year after Male lost some kids to being kicked off the team.

I am not following you soccerfan...

He is still playing Club with Rovers, they are also doing Super Y this summer, this comes straight from a conversation he had with my son just 3 days ago.

I think he played all but a couple of matches for Male last season, not sure of the circumstances but do not recall that there was ever a plan that included him sitting out the HS season.

He was not going to play high school last year, which his father was very clear about but then after preseason and some games he ended up coming out for the team. Yes he will continue to play with the Rovers and is even on their PDL roster.

@soccerforlife... Agreed. The whole team played great. I mentioned some names because this is normally a High School forum...

Then lets be fair and mention all the Northern KY High School kids on that KHA U17 Red team........

Michael Dumaine -- Campbell Co

Devin Morgan -- Scott

Parker Kenny -- Cov Cath

Kareem Elgusain -- Ryle

Adam Lannon --St. Henry

Bryce Day -- Cov Cath

Logan Dehner -- St. Henry

Erik Hegerty -- Scott

Brady Gesenhues -- Highlands

Chandler Gaunce -- GRC (not really what we call northern Ky but we will throw him in there)

Good Luck in Wisconsin!!

If you want to really be fair... list all the kids from NKY that are headed to WI next week.

I think their might also be some pretty good players headed to MO for the Presidents Cup this weekend.

By all means Yellow Card if you know all those names then please list them! I would love to know who they all are but I wouldn't want to only single a few out.

I know there are quite a few more, across a couple of teams, not sure I can name them all though.

No offense or unfairness intended. I mainly know the CCH and St. Henry boys.

Best place for roster list is here.GotSoccer Rankings.

of course you need to know the schools. you also have to dig around if you aren't sure what their teams rank is. Best to do it by state then click on team and roster is provided.
