No doubt she would have helped on the court, but as far as the first part of your statement goes, I would have to disagree. I cannot imagine a more problematic parent. Hopefully this does not occur at Ryle and she gets a chance to have a long and healthy career. But I doubt that it would change at this point.

No, but that is just a Boone County Rule, not a KHSAA Rule. They live right on the border of the Ryle and WV districts

They only lost to Louisville Male by 2 points at Georgetown this week. They played them again in the tournament today and lost by 7 or so. Stith looked incredible in the second game. If she can play like that on a regular basis they may contend for an All "A" Regional Championship.

Knowing that family, I would doubt they would be willing to come back with their tails between their legs to WVHS and try to make nice. My bet would be that they would move if they had to.

Absolutely not true. She is loving Thomas More and Coach Neal. Doing very well in summer ball and thrilled so far with her decision.

I agree with what you say about their youth, but not their physical strength. They are probably stronger at every position then they were last year. 07-08 08-09 Dixon Dixon another year older, she has to be stronger Ginn Ginn another year older, again, has to be stronger Hargett Sandlin Sandlin may be an 8th grader, but she is at least as physically strong as Hargett was as a senior Cheesman ? Anyone would have to be stronger than her, she crumpled at the slightest contact Heeger ? Heeger was very strong for her size, but she was not what I would call a physical force on the court The change in coaches should account for a big swing in performance. Having not seen their schedule, I would still guess over .500 and with losing 9 seniors, that ain't too shabby.

I agree Madman. The Ginn girl looked good tonight, but I am not sure she is the calming influence you would like to see from the point guard. Clinkenbeard is another possible option, but she is more of a two and very young. They played a 7th grader named Mulligan?? last night. She looks like she has potential, but is still just a seventh grader.

They looked pretty impressive at Ludlow's Team Camp in their victory over Scott High School. The athleticism of the post players will be what makes them strong.

I heard today the Travece Turner got the job at Holmes. Can anyone confirm this??

She handles the ball well, and passes well, but overall I do not see this as a good move on her part. She is a bit fragile and often hurt in games and that was before she made the scouting reports of opponents. Did they move, or did she just transfer. I know that her dad is a coach for Ryle and that she is only going to be a freshmen so no KHSAA rules to worry about. Just wondering if it will be an option to transfer back when things do not go well there. (and would she be welcome back at WV?)

Travece Turner from Newport be a great option for the Holmes job. Not sure she would be willing to leave Newport though.

I agree, but I don't think that is limited to the 9th Region. I think most Class "A" Schools are looking to do that year in and year out and hope to one day make it to the All "A" State or perhaps even contend for a Regional Championship. Every team needs to set high goals for themsleves, but the goals are not the same for every school.

I too believe they will be too young next year to contend in the region, but they should still be able to compete for the second seed in their district and contend for a conference championship and class "A" Regional title as early as next year. Many of the other conference and class "A" Schools lost a lot this year too.

Thanks, and nicely said. I do know that the WV faithful have voiced their concern over things they do not like, but we have high expectations. High expectations for our athletes, our students, our coaches, our teachers, our administrators, our CATS test scores, etc... When things do not go well we will voice our concerns until those high expectations are met. Seems to me more schools could benefit from having high expectations. As far as next year's Ladycats go, looking at the conference, there is no reason they cannot compete right away. As I said before, the coaches need to spend plenty of time with the young talent this summer and instill their philosophy so that they can hit the ground running October 15th.

GatorFan, your WV hating is getting old. It amazes me how everyone else can see the potential there, but you are unwilling to accept it. Everyone seems to agree that the coaches and talent could combine for something special, the question is just if it will be next year or down the road. Unless you think that the talent at your school will be too much for the Ladycats.

Knowing that the new coaching staff is chomping at the bit to get in the gym with these girls I think that they will come along quite quickly over the summer. Don't get me wrong, I know they are very young and lost a boat-load of talent this year, but I think they will do better than most people think in 2008-2009. Re-establishing the high level of committment necessary to play the game at a high level should be their number one priority. Lots and lots of time in the gym this summer as the coaches get to know the players and the players get to know the coaches will be key as well.

Then why the disrespect from the Enquirer. This is exactly why I hated to see the Post go under. The Enquirer's coverage of N. KY is token at best. And obvioulsy from this glaring omission, not very complete.
