I have been told that Celeste Hill has taken an Asst job at her alma mater, Old Dominion. Any truth about this from the Holmes faithful??

I have heard the same. 2 pretty good coaches (Hill and Spritzy, Dixie) stepping down from what I would think would be 2 very interesting jobs..

Travece Turner from Newport be a great option for the Holmes job. Not sure she would be willing to leave Newport though.

Heard this was a very good possibility. Also heard she has a niece in the 5th grade that is a phenom already.

 

Why would this be? Wouldn't going to Holmes be a jump up?

Somewhat surprised that she will stay at Newport but if true that is good news for the Wildcat program. They definitely need some stability in the Newport program.

Who then become the leading candidates for this position if Travece is as you state not going to Holmes. The Holmes job and the Dixie jobs are 2 very attractive positions that I'm sure a great many up and coming coaches would be very interested in.

Whoa...If that's the case, I'm completely shocked. She definitely kept that on the down-low--which I guess can be understood until she knew something official. I know she had been questioned about potentially leaving and she implied that she wasn't even considering the Holmes position. Regardless, if the move is in fact true, best of luck to Travece in her new role. I have no doubts that she will be successful at Holmes.

HOLMES HOMECOMING: Travece Turner, who a decade ago starred on the girls' basketball team at Holmes, will return to coach it next season. Turner, who spent last season as the head coach at Newport, has been hired by Holmes, according to athletic director Ron Madrick.

 

Turner will replace Celeste Hill Brockett, another Holmes alumna who recently accepting an assistant coaching position at Old Dominion.

 

"We think she's a very up-and-coming young coach," Madrick said. "She's lived in our community. She played here before going to college and having a great career. We've been following her career and we feel honored to have her as a part of our program."

 

Turner played on the Kentucky All-Star Team as a senior in 1998, then played a season at the University of Richmond.

 

She later transferred to Morehead State where she was an all-conference player.

 

While coaching at Newport, she taught in the Covington School District.

 

The Wildcats went 4-21 in its one season under Turner.

Coach Turner gets her first win as Holmes' Varsity Coach. Definitely not a bad showing considedring the girls have had only a week of practice and this was their first game. GO HOLMES!!!! WE LOVE THE BULLDOGS!!!!!
