Williamstown 2008/2009

Featured Replies

What does Williamstown need to do to improve in 2008/2009? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Stith will be the go-to girl for the Lady Demons. Wilhoit and West must step-up and be consistent contributors. The guard play will be instrumental and will be the determining factor as to how much success the Lady Demons have especially since they lack size and the presence of a big post player. The guards must control the tempo, penetrate and dish to Stith and Wilhoit and hit the three's to open up the floor. I think if West steps-up and becomes the floor leader, the Lady Demons will win several games. Some of the unknowns will have to contribute on a consistent basis by playing tough defense and rebounding. They will still be a young team but the main three has a lot of varsity experience and it's time for them to play like experienced players. Rebounding may be a problem due to their lack of size but pressure defense can off-set this. They must stay out of foul trouble due to their lack of depth so they better be in excellent condition come basketball season. The main three are going to have to play a lot of minutes if this team is going to be successful. Good luck to the Lady Demons, work hard and stay focused.

Agree with you madman, I thnk they are going to win quite a few games. They have a lot of experience and a good Coach.

I would like to see the big 8th grade girl see some serious varsity playing time. I think her first name is Susan. Coach Wilhoit needs to get her in the gym a lot this summer. She could be their solution to a lack of size at the post and try to earn Knarr's position in the starting five.

Any updates on how they are doing? Have they had any scrimmages or attended any team camps?

They will be at the Thomas More Camp next week. I look forward to seeing them there. The camp is split between Thomas More and Dixie Heights.

They only lost to Louisville Male by 2 points at Georgetown this week. They played them again in the tournament today and lost by 7 or so. Stith looked incredible in the second game. If she can play like that on a regular basis they may contend for an All "A" Regional Championship.

I ran into Coach Wilhoit tonight and he seemed very pleased with their play at Georgetown. Lost 3 games (Meade Co. by 2, Trimble by 1 as Trimble shot lights out and lost to Male by 1) by a total of 4 points. They beat West Carter in 2 OT's, Logan Co., Pendleton and Trimble Co. He did say Stith, Wilhoit and West played well offensively for him and the team played harder as they have ever played. His main concern is who will start in the 5th position. They go to TMC next week.

Glad to see they are playing well. Hope they can continue throughout the summer and into the season.
