  1. Kentucky still has a long way to go before we catch up to other states. Just not a lot of division 1 players in our state. Add to the list when someone commits: Omar Prewitt (Mongomery County) - William & Mary Jack whitman (Lexington Catholic) - William & Mary David Levitch (North Oldham) - UofL Preferred Walk-On Derek Willis (Bullitt East) - UofK Rusty Troutman (Bullitt East) - Bellarmine Louis Maniacci (Cooper) - Lincoln Memorial Austin Hunt (Boyd County) - Lincoln Memorial Logan O'Bryan (Daviess County) - Kentuck Wesleyan Antonio Campbell (Covington Holy Cross) - Ohio Demarcus Page (Trinity) - Campbellsville Quin Richardson (Scott County) - Campbellsville Mason Monroe (Pendleton County) - Transylvania Zach Caggins (Ballard) - Transylvania Stephen Goble (Wesley Christian) - Jefferson Davis CC Ryne Tinsley (Grayson County) - Brescia Trey Tinsley (Grayson County) - Brescia Kristian Morgan (Gallatin County) - Asbury Kody Johnson (Pulaski County) - Campbellsville Derek Jeffries (Henry County) - Transylvania Nate McGovney(Campbell County) - Thomas Moore Tyler Smith (Bryan Station)-Asbury Miles Rice (Trinity) - Campbellsville Darryl Hicks (Trinity) - Boston College Alex Jones (St. Xavier) - Transylvania Sam Gruber (Oldham County) - Centre College Nick Jackson (Scott) - Union College Dominique Hawkins (Madison Central) -UK Emmanuel Owootoah (Cordia) - Fresno State Ethan Rowe (Pikeville) - Transylvania Drew Mays (Ryle) - Transylvania Devonte Grundy (Bardstown)- Vincennes University Michael Beuter (Newport Central Catholic) - Unión College Nick Siebert (Newport Central Catholic) - Cincinnati Christian Drew Shelton (Cooper) - Cincinnati Christian Christian McClendon (Holy Cross) - Mount St Joes Josh Barnard (Rowan County) - University of Pikeville
  2. If Julian Tackett is so big on EQUITY among all sports, then why doesn't he charge fans the same admission price for ALL state championship games in ALL sports? Same trophies, no programs, etc. for all sports should = same price admission for all. How much does KHSAA charge for admisision for their softball, baseball, football, golf, tennis, fishing, soccer, track, etc. state championships?
  3. Is the Sweet 16 still "THE GREATEST SHOW IN HOOPS"? Over the past two years I have noticed a huge change in the Sweet 16 for the worst. Here is what I have observed the last couple of years. 1. NO PROGRAMS this year, really small programs last year. This is terrible and the KHSAA just doesn't want to do one for all the different championship because they lose money for the other events. Therefore, don't do them for anyone then. EQUITY BABY! is what Julian Tackett is screaming. 2. CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY. The championship trophy is now really small compared the 5 foot trophy the girls and boys used to get. This is a shame because that trophy is the most coveted trophy amongst all sports in Kentucky. 3. MVP TROPHY. The MVP trophy for Hawkins this year was a joke. It was a small 8" x 10" plaque with a gold sticker on it saying MVP of Sweet 16. Cheap and embarrassing to even give it to him this year. 4. NO CONFETTII. No confettii fell after the championship game. Too much to pay the immigrants that clean Rupp to pick it up I guess. 5. NO LASER LIGHTS. No lazer lights on the floor that spun around saying KHSAA SWEET 16 during pregame ceremonies. 6. NO PICTURES ON TICKETS. One thing that was always neat about the state tourney tickets was the fact that they had pictures form the previous years tournament on them. Now they just have KHSAA logo on them. 7. SWEET 16 GEAR NOT MUCH. Most the items for sale at the booth had only KHSAA CHAMPIONSHIPS on them instead of the 2013 KHSAA SWEET 16 logo on them. This is so they can sale the same gear at all the championship sports this year and don't have to worry about having left overs that go unsold. 8. NO PLAYER LANYARD PASSES. You usually get to see the participants wearing their participant lanyard passes around proudly during each session letting everyone know they made it to the state tournament. The KHSAA did away with them to save printing money. It was always I nice suvounir for each participant. 9. COMMENT OF THE WEEK: Julian Tackett says "most people would just throw the programs in the trash and only the old people care about them." Unbelievable comment. The KHSAA has really started to forget this past week is the most special week in the entire year for this state. They are showing everyone that all they do is care about maximizing profits and forget about making this THE GREATEST SHOW IN HOOPS. Does anyone else notice this recent decline in our best sporting event of the year?
  4. I still say he missed out on Anthony Hickey. He would be solid here for four years.
  5. Liggins named MVP on radio. He and Harrelson were the MVP's tonight. Both played awesomes games.
  6. Harrelson by far MVP tonight! What a game. GO CATS, beat Tarheels!!!
  7. Behanan is by far the best junior prospect in Kentucky. Coach Cal isn't showing much interest from what I gather though. I think when it is all said and done, Cincy is his first choice and Louisville will be his second choice.
  8. Is this sarcasm or do you really believe Sewell and Trinity had a better season than Justice and Shelby Valley? I don't think even Walter or passtheball would agree with that statement, maybe not though.
  9. Looking at Rivals.com Justice is a 3 star and Sewell is a no star. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Elisha-Justice-102297 I am not saying this to start some long arguement about who is better. I am simply saying that Justice signed a scholly with a Big East team and he was the only signee from Kentucky to sign Major D1
  10. I guess now we don't have to listen to passtheball and loubball anymore about him being a walkon. He is now a scholarship player in the Big East and the only senior to sign major Division 1. Congrats to Elisha!
  11. The reason why Sewell gets the most votes in this is because the Courier Journal polled the coaches at the end of the regular season. Therefore, the coaches didn't get to see the post season play before this was voted on. This is why Justice won Mr. Basketball. The coaches voted on it after the post season was over. The Courier Journal really needs to clarify when they polled the coaches because many people are going to be asking the same question. Kind of stupid to come out with this all state team 3 weeks after the state tournament was over when it was complete before district tournaments started.
  12. Not misleading, it is a record in the 15th. I would have thought J.R. Vanhoose, John Pelphrey, or Todd May would have maybe done it, but no one in the 15th has ever won more than 2 MVP's. I was just wandering if anyone had done this in another region before.
  13. History question: What other players around the state have won 3 region tournament MVPs? I am sure there are some other great players throughout the history of Ky basketball to do this. Help me out with some history. Thanks!
  14. Congratulations to Elisha Justice for winning his third MVP for the 15th region tournament. He won the award his freshmen, junior and senior year. Winning it his freshmen year has also never been done by any other freshmen in 15th region history. Regardless of what region he plays in, this is a great accomplishment. Congrats to Justice and good luck at Rupp!
  15. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/scorecard/faces/2010/03/08/ Here is the online version.
  16. I still laugh at 7th region fans saying IF Justice played in the 7th he would be an average point guard. Then SV picks up J'town on schedule last game of the year, drives all the way to Louisville, Justice drops 31 on them, has J'town down 21 with a couple minutes to play, beats them by 15 (in front of Pitino I might add), and drives back to eastern Ky.
  17. You took the words right out of my mouth!!!
  18. So you think we are going to get 6 or 7 5-star recruits from now until May? No, maybe a couple which means he has to fill his roster with other players. Speaking of Carter, I think everyone knew he couldn't play when UNC and UK were recruiting him. He was a project that didn't work out. AGAIN, Sewell and Justice have the same type of full ride offers. Did Sewell get a scholarship offer from UL? NO he did not. If he wanted to play for Pitino he would have to be a walkon just like every other senior in this state.
  19. Just got word that one of UK's asst. coaches contacted SV's coach earlier this week about Justice to UK for next year. They said they will have atleast 6 or 7 scholarships open next year and are interested in getting a few more guards for next year. Brandon Knight is a lock for Ky I believe, but I bet that was an interesting conversation.
  20. Add Army, Navy and East Tennessee State to this list of colleges who have offered Elisha Justice full rides.
  21. This is a great video regardless if you are a Louisville Trinity homer or not. haha!!! Elisha Justice highlight film on Youtube.
  22. When is Mr. Basketball voted on, before or after the Sweet 16? This will be a major thing to consider when talking about Mr. Basketball. Does anyone know?
  23. I agree. But J'town and Manual may have something to say about that.
  24. Eastern always seemed to be one small notch below Ballard all year. Sounds like a good one though tonight. Eastern will be in the top 2-3 preseason next year with A LOT of talent back.
