I am not trying to be critical, I am being realsitic. Anyway is that not what the thread is for.

Campbellsville has to be the favorite-To much coming back!!! Williamsburg has to be second- the lack of talent at DB and lineman unable to cause a passhrush is a bad combination for the Jackets against Campbellsville. Lynn camp would be third- Best defensive team who struggles to dictates games with their offense. A lot of big play capability though. last year there was a three way tie for first during the regular season. Williamsburg got the nod through the tiebreaker system. I see it being just as tough this year.

For Williamsburg to improve some obvious things has to occur. Teague- Has to get stronger and be more of a factor defensively Taylor- Has to become willing to go to the basket more to collapse the defense Petite- Has to get stronger and stay out of foul trouble. It will take a lot of work from petite during the off season. Cunningham- will have to become a tougher defender and be willing to become a smarter basketball player. Terry- has got to put the work in to become a factor during the off season The whole team- needs to become a lot tougher and willing to defend. Unless the team can play harder and tougher than they currently do, it is very hard for them to beat a team that is more talented, which most teams are. If you can be tough and play defense than you can sometimes beat teams you shouldn't. I would look from increased playing time for Lowery and Fleenor because of the effort they give consistently.Right now Williamsburg is a team that is soft.

They had the Williamsburg Plans at homecoming last year. It is going to include a baseball, softball, and football field. I would assume that Whitley will spend more money on their project than Williamsburg will. I think most Williamsburg fans are sad that they are loosing their current facility, but updates are absolutley necessary.

What is the Colonel Classic?

As a fan I thought the way things were going was great. Teams that got blowed out during the regular season, came in and played much better in the second meetings. To me it seems like you would get more rivalry games, better gates, and more competetive play playing in your own district. What is the major draw back. Also, I thought the districts in where supposed to switch this year in regional play. Why would that change? I understand the khsaa is listening to certain schools, but flip flopping mid stream is ridiculous. The system that we just got rid of promoted better competition in the early rounds and the switching of districts in region play made things extremly fair.

I have always thought that this upcoming group of seniors has a very high talent level. I don't know why, but it seems like they have had some bad luck since they have been in high school. I think Jim will get things done if he is given the time, and he is probably the most talented team in the district. That is why I believe they will have a succesful year, and win the district. One thing that is a given, the kids will be well prepared.

I think Harlan will give Lynn Camp all they can handle, but Lynn Camp vs. Whitley is an annual rivalry game and means so much to so many. Last year Lynn Camp blew Whitley's doors off with their running game. I know that has got to be in the back of the Whitley County players and coaches minds during the off season. I look for this to be one of the best games in the mountains this year. I can't wait to go to this one.

With that much talent, could Whitley be looking for more than a district title this year? At this point, you have to think a winning record and a home playoff game would be huge for Whitley. I believe they will be the most talented team in their district. What does Whitley's schedule look like.

I heard Jones and Powers will be getting a bulk of the carries in the backfield with Ryder at QB. Alex Patrick was playing widereciever. I am not sure what they have for lineman, but I understand they are supposed to be much improved. I think Whitley has a lot to be excited about, but I thought the same thing last year with Lebannon playing QB.

I do not think Berea will be apart of the district untill 2009.

So Whitley is going back to a running attack. Is this primarily wishbone sets. The kids that I talked to have been talking a lot about the wishbone, with Ryder playing QB. I know it is tuff to keep changing offenses. The wishbone stuff should be pretty simple though. I hope it works for them.

I wouldn't go that far!!! I would not say Lynn Camp's tradition is greater than that of the Jackets, and no where in the league of Corbin.

Injuries was a big problem last year for the Jackets. They had a stretch were they lost 3 in a row, and several people were injured during that time. Hopefully that will not happen again. Also I have heard that the Jackets have picked up Harlan on the schedule. I like this a lot. I hope this game is played every year.

McCreary Co.- Last year the Jackets had trouble stopping Watts and he should give the Jackets all they can handle. Bath Co- Should be very good. Very athletic, and play physical coverage. This was a very good game that ended in a redzone stance last year. This will be a very good ball game. Madison Southern- both teams were young last year and should be a good match up Campbellsville- This should be a great match up. I hope it is as good as the playoff game between the two. I know Joe was good! He should have been the states leading rusher last year. He played in 8 games but he was not listed. I really wished he would have been healthy, things would have gotten a little bit more interesting in our district. State Championship I don't think so, but who knows. Do not overlook Wagner, the mitchell kid, and the freshman running back they had last year. They can all scoot. It will be a very interesting game. I don't think anyone will buy that his rivalry game does not mean something special to Whitley this year.

You seem to know a lot about the program. Is their any truth to the Rider kid playing QB? Who is going to be the offensive coordinator this year? Who is going to be in the backfield for Whitley?

I would say anyone who is willing to come in work hard and make better of themselves would be welcomed as a Jacket. That is usually not the case though and you are right, we take great pride that most of our kids are with us for the full 13 years.

They will be fine. I think Whitley looms larger on their schedule than the new Harlan County. You gotta think Whitley will have retribution on their mind for the embarrasing blow out Lynn Camp handed them. Not to mention it is a rivalry game. This to me is one of the most interesting games in the mountains this year.

I thought McCumbers was a school record setting quarterback. Surely he will be missed more than your letting on. I thought he was better than most gave him credit for.

I thought he only had one more year of eligibility. At least that is what former members of the McCreary coaching staff said. Where they incorrect. He makes that team 28 pts better a ball game. It may take 11, but it takes one mismatch to score. you can talk all day about a strong supporting cast, but good players make the other kids better as well. Siince you asked though they will have a decent supporting cast!

Where some people make a mistake is they transfer first and then move later. I hate to see kids be apart of all this in fighting, and not be eligible but rules are rules. That's why you better know where you want to play as an 8th grader.
