  1. Where some people make a mistake is they transfer first and then move later. I hate to see kids be apart of all this in fighting, and not be eligible but rules are rules. That's why you better know where you want to play as an 8th grader.
  2. Watts may very well be the best athlete in the mountains. This will be McCreary's year to do it if they are ever going to do it(get above 500 that is). Get the ball to Watts early and often and they will beat some people.
  3. Lynn Camp will be very good next year and every one seems to be over looking them. They will have two very good running backs, and they are coached by one of the better coaches in the mountains. I see the district being a three team mix just like last year. I say the Lynn Camp vs. Whitley game will be a war.
  4. Early rumor from spring ball practice. The Ryder kid is playing QB in a wishbone offense. From what I understand they were showing option and midline. The patrick kid was at wide reciever. What players would probably be in the backfield? I thought for sure Patrick would be, but I understand reciever too (can catch and should be able to block well).
  5. What about the lebannon kid, will he not be back next season?
  6. Joe Roskoph would have to be in that mix, and Trampus Hollins could have been one of the hardest guys to tackle. Quentin was a good back but did not have a great senior year.
  7. I have heard that Whitley won one in the 80's. What year did that take place in? The next one will come next year, wait and see!!!
  8. I think they have won one District Title in football. I do not think they ever won one in 3A. Bell Co always dominated that district. Then Rockastle came in and won some titles. I just can not find where Whitley has won one untill they moved into 4A (won a district title that first year they moved into the 4A district). I think by far the district they are currently playing in is very weak (compared to former competition). I think that is why there were such high expectations last year. Look for Whitley to get this thing turned around quick. A district title is very attainable. I also think they should win there annual rivalry game with Lynn Camp.
  9. Lynn Camp will be good as well. The running back that filled in for Roskoph was pretty good. I also liked the veer look they showed against Williamsburg out of gun. The kid #10 who came in and played QB (I believe his name was Mitchell) is pretty quick.
  10. Well I think the bottom line with Whitley is this. They just need to keep improving on offense and defense. The last three season have not gone well, but they were in almost every ball game except for the Lynn Camp game. I am sure Coach Black and his staff will coach just as hard as always and it will get turned around in the near future. I think the teams in there district are pretty even with them. So a quick turn around is very possible. I still would like to know, Who is the offensive coordinator? I have asked several people but no one seems to be able to tell me.
  11. Who is the offensive coordinator at Whitley? I watch Williamsburg each week, and the offense does not look similar to me, but if you say so I will believe you. Joe was a very good player, and you are right he looked very good against Whitley that night. I was suprised not to see him ranked in the top statistical leaders in the state. I do not understand why he wouldn't be, I thought he played in 8 games.
  12. They did not run it very long there though did they. I heard it was scrapped half way through the season. When I saw them play Lynn camp last year they definetly were not running the Tony Franklin System.
  13. The Hal Mumme/Texas Tech/Valdosta State/ Franklin system are all pretty much the same. Tony Franklin and Mike Leach both coached under Mumme at the University of Kentucky. I know every spread team runs something from the Franklin System. Williamsburg uses several things from the Franklin System, and add it to more of a run n shoot offense.
  14. This game was a pretty good game. I thought Whitley County was the most talented of the two teams. Williamsburg played D, hustled, caused turnovers, and made it a game.Williamsburg had no answer for the Lebannon kid down the stretch of the ball game. I hope Williamsburg will play with that type of heart and determination every night.
  15. I do not think it is a matter of throwing or not throwing. I am sure he does throw the ball more than in years past. I just believe Whitley would have a lot more sucess if they would go to an offensive package closer to Williamsburg. Then again I am making that judgement after only watching Whitley play twice. They seemed to be very run oriented. If they will use there passing game more affectively. It will also make them more affective with their running game.
  16. I have to agree with you. If this is going to be the punishment for this type of rules infraction, why doesn't every one do it. The chances of getting caught are slim and there are no real consequences.
  17. I wouldn't say loaded. I think Campbellsville will be very good and should be favored to win the district. As for a system that is hard to stop. I believe Campbellsville shut out the Jackets the first half of the playoff game and has plenty of enough athletes to defend the Jackets. It should be a fun match up!! Good oppurtunity for both teams.
  18. Couldn't agree with you more. After watching the Lynn Camp/Whitley game last year, I did not understand what they were doing on offense. If Coach Black will go back to his roots and run the offense he had sucess with at Williamsburg, I think he would be more succesful. Whitley will be fine. They were in most of the games they played last year (except for the Lynn Camp game). Coach Black is a class act and will do fine. The one thing that did make me mad is something Apex said "Alex Patrick (much to the chagrin of Williamsburg) will now be eligible after sitting out a year." I would say most of the fans and players from Williamsburg wish Alex the best. Williamsburg has been moderatley succesful with him and without him.
  19. The jackets will return their quarterback and all 4 recievers. There are still a lot of questions about this team. How good will the running game be? I know they return there o-line, but this team struggled to count on there running game at key times last year. This is especially true when they needed to pick up 1 or 2 yards. Will the Jacket defense be disciplined. Last year at times Williamsburg was undisciplined on defense at it cost them ball games. Most of the year Williamsburg stuggled with DB's bitting up on routes, D-lineman loosing rush lanes, and Linebackers who seemed to get lost. Lastly Williamsburg has to improve their ability to throw the vertical routes. They were very inconsistant with Fade and Seem routes. This realy hurt them in their playoff lost to Campbellsville. What Williamsburg does well is throwing 7 to 12 yrd routes, and making the defense defend sideline to sideline each and every play. If this continues they will have moderate sucess. If they can fix their mistakes, they can be one of the best teams in Single A.
  20. The first time Williamsburg put blue in a football uniform was in 1992. In 2002 Jim Black started ordering Jersey's with Orange and White only (at the urging of most Jacket Alumni). Then shortly after that most other sports followed suit. Blue is even out of the gym at Williamsburg now. This year the Williamsburg football team wore a replica home jersey from the first Williamsburg team after World War II (I believe). Those Jersey's were orange and White with black stripes on the sleeves. This trend seems to be growing.
  21. I also think Lynn Camp will be pretty good. The Wagner kid is very fast and the running back that filled in for Roskoph looked good. I believe he was a freshman.
  22. I believe Campbellsville should be favored to win their district next year, with Williamsburg close behind them. Campbellsville will return a lot of very athletic kids.
  23. Coach Haynes is who you are talking about. I would have to think Rich Prewitt was the most succesful. District Champions and Region Runners up to the Richie Farmer led Clay Co.. Coach West also one a district title as well. I believe in his first season as head coach. I believe Randy Vernon's son was on that team.
  24. Whitley should be favored in this game, but watch out for the Jackets. Look for the jackets to try to push the tempo with Whitley.
