My guess is that since your actual residence is in Pendleton County, that is the district that your child is expected to attend. Kenton County schools might be an option if you want to pay tuition for your out-of-district child.

From what I've heard, they have some names in mind, but there aren't really any teaching positions open for an outsider to come on board as both a teacher and coach. They recently sent out letters of intent to teachers to see if any vacancies may be on the horizon. These are due back by March 1st. Impending retirements may open up a teaching spot for a new coach/teacher outside of the district. Trying to locate a teaching position for the new coach may be the cause for delay.

Your reasoning seems pretty clear to me. Even if I was offered a free ride to Stanford, I can think of at least five good reasons why I would still consider other scholarship offers from other schools. To base a college decision on simply one factor seems a little absurd to me.

Just out of curiosity, what are the minimum academic qualifications for Stanford? Anybody know?

Anybody know what's going on with number one on the list? With stats like that, I'm guessing she's doing at least decent at the collegiate level. Where is she playing at? And, how is she doing?

Yeah, that's why I was confused too. I know in the past, Ludlow's district has always been a blind draw.

Just finished reading this article. I promptly printed it out and sent it to all of the basketball coaches in my district. I also plan on making this article a homework assignment for my team. I preach and preach to my team about many of things that Bilas said in the article, but he put much better than I ever could. This will be an article that I will save and share with other teams in the future.

What is the significance of having a such a rule? I can't fathom a reason how the color of a headband will impact the game. Anyone care to speculate?

Wow...I have no idea who you are, but I am totally diggin' the fact that this Newport team converted an "outsider". It seems as if we (our kids, schools, etc...) don't get much love from those outside of the city. It's nice to see these kids getting some much deserved recognition. :thumb:

I heard it's been 20+ years since a public school has won the 9th Region All "A" for the boys. Walton-Verona won the first tournament way back when and it's been a private school winner ever since. Can anyone confirm this? I would LOVE to see Newport break the streak!!

Indeed it was. This was quite possibly the most physical game I can recall having ever seen. The refs seemed to let it get out of control. I can think of at least two times where girls were tackled (not an exaggeration) while going for a loose ball with no call being made. These were pretty blatant fouls, so I'm not sure why none of the refs felt the need to blow the whistle. Anyone in attendance want to shed some light on this? All in all, though not the outcome I was hoping for, it was a hard fought game on both sides. No doubt the 9th region will be well represented in Richmond.
