The story I was told that it has been a goal of his to play at Thomas More. From what I understand, he will be playing there next year. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes. The ACT is now part of the state accountability testing for all public school students in Kentucky, regardless of their intent on going to college.

As I walked out to my car after the game, I couldn't help but overhear a Holmes' student talking to his parents about how some the players on his team behaved. I heard him say that while he was upset at losing, he was more upset that the actions of a few would likely reflect poorly on the entire school. Even though I would never judge an entire school or community based on the actions of a few, I know that there are people out there that do. And for that reason, I kinda felt bad for the poor kid. :cry:

Did you really think he was going to come out and say, "Yeah, I know based on our record and talent level, we don't deserve to be in the Regionals. With that in mind, I would like to forfeit our spot in order for Highlands and NCC to represent our district."???? :idunno: I believe his excitement was sincere and those comments were based on that excitement. He probably understands that he got lucky with the draw and that his team's chances of being competitive in the Region are slim. However, until the district decides to seed, these things will happen. He (and his team) might as well take advantage. I'm curious though... He was obviously approached by the media for a comment regarding their win and its significance. What comments do you propose he should have said instead?

I think recognizing both teams' seniors on senior night has become the standard in girls' sports. I can't recall a game (regardless of sport) I've coached in that didn't do this. That said, I agree the recognition of the opposing team is a very classy move.

While I favor seeding, I agree that taking only the winner from each region will eliminate this debate altogether. One question though...Dayton, Bellevue, and Newport all all opt for the draw year in and year out. Why do you only point out Newport as the one school holding the draw over NCC and Highlands' heads?

If that is the legitimate enrollment, then I see no cause for debate. However, every enrollment number I saw on the school in my limited research had it listed as over 500 students. Is it possible they had a drastic reduction in enrollment this year, making them eligible?

Where was it listed that 286>500? :idunno: DeSales' enrollment based on the program numbers was around 570. Given that DeSales' is an all boy school, they would clearly have the advantage over a co-ed school with say 535 students. They have roughly double the talent pool from which to pull athletes. This logic seems very clear to me, but for some reason, others are struggling to understand.

I believe DeSales was listed as having 569 students in the program.
