It's good to hear that somewhere the referees are calling offensive fouls in girl's basketball. The past couple of years that has been almost unheard of!!

No swipe intended. I think the Oliverio girl is a nice player. I don't think it would be unusual for a recruiter to be interested in her as well as the other Ryle players.

Assuming they were talking to the player, not the coach. It gets confusing with that many parents involved.

That's interesting. I would think that is an NCAA violation. (unless there are some new rules)

This is true. They could also have contact with these coaches at the campuses. I have not seen MSU's women's bball team play, but Jump can flat out shoot. I would think she could play at that level.

For the record, D1 coaches cannot contact high school players until their junior year. I would guess grade schoolers would be exempt from this rule???

Congrats to Abby Jump and her family! Morehead State is a great school and they really take care of their athletes!!!

8th Grade girls being recruited at any level, much less D1? Incredible!! Girl's basketball in Northern Kentucky sure has changed.

Sorry, did not mean to slight the Notre Dame keeper. Played a spectacular game also. Congrats again to both teams. It is a shame that soccer doesn't have a better way of deciding tied matches!!

Have to agree with the referee evaluation. Horrible. Do these folks get the opportunity to ref big games based on some type of KHSAA point system?? With that being said, Congrats to Sacred Heart. Their keeper had an amazing game! Congrats to Notre Dame on a fine season.

St. Henry likes to hire like that. Their girl's bball coach has a daughter in the program as well.

I also agree with Panda. It would be very difficult to win a State championship in any sport unless your players play year-around. Most of the schools outside of this area are much more focused on basketball than other sports. Volleyball is strong in NKY and Louisville only. Soccer is primarily strong in NKY, Louisville and Lexington only. Basketball is strong state wide. Notre Dame (and other NKY schools) would need to focus on basketball more than these other sports. That is not happening now. Has a NKY girl's team ever won a State championship in basketball??

Agree with dixievb07, but it can still be done through high school. Some athletes are still able to play multiple sports. I won't mention names, but there is senior from Campbell County High School, 2 juniors from St. Henry, and a sophomore from Notre Dame (just to name a few) that will all be 4 year Varsity starters at multiple sports. I am sure there is a bunch on the boys side as well.

If someone is even considering changing schools beacuse of athletics, they should not participate in a Varsity match as an underclassman (JV or Freshman teams). Alot of underclassmen get pulled up to play with the Varsity. IMO, changing schools because of athletics is very short sighted anyway. Isn't the education the most important thing??

Notre Dame is probably sending the JV to the Holmes match. It will probably still be a 10 - 0 match.

I am sure Kim Gunning will make an excellent choice for the head coaching position at NDA. Of the 3 names that keep coming up (those who have been associated with NDA basketball in the past), all three are quality coaches as well as quality individuals, I know this from personal experience (my daughter has played for all three). I seriously doubt that Kim will go outside of the NDA family for a new coach when she has these 3 fine men to choose from (if they are interested in the position). As for the notion that NDA basketball is going to be down for the next few years, I beg to differ. Schilling, Ammerman, and Hill, who are all coming back after injuries will bring a strong core back for this season. Add to that Voskul (freshman) and the other 3 returning seniors and they will be fine.

Have to agree with Bleacher Creature. Notre Dame still has to be the favorite in their district and we all know anything can happen in regionals.
