For the record, I would have a hard time saying anyone is the greatest athlete in the state of Ky. Too many different sports to choose from. (No offense to Jantzen, a fine soccer and basketball player).

Peabody at Sacred Heart. (Pretty good athlete also). State MVP for State Soccer Champion Sacred Heart and one heck of a basketball player.

Hughes can flat out fly. In transition, she just raced down the court. When NDA did contain her, she buried a couple of threes. Most of her points were in the first half. The second half, NDA fouled her multiple times resulting in some points from the free throw line. That seemed like the only way to slow her down. As for NDA scoring, it was very balanced. Ammerman buried a three from just inside half court at the buzzer to put the Pandas up by 5 at the end of the first half. NDA slowly pulled away in the second half. It was nice to see Schilling scoring in double figures for the second game in a row. It really helped that NDA was able to penetrate the lane for most of the evening. The Pandas really miss Brannen, but Voskuhl did a good job in the post. Good district win for NDA.

Final

Since this was kind of started in the Boone / Highlands thread. Here we go. Beal at Holy Cross, Vuskuhl at NDA, Crittenden, Johnson and Cheeseman at Ryle. Muench at NCC. I don't know the name of the freshman at Highlands. One of them was Abner, who is the big girl?

Moss definitely helps Boone County. Although, I don't think anyone is ready to hand Boone the 9th region title for the next 3 years (since Moss is only a sophomore). Ryle, NDA, Highlands, etc. have some very young talent. It will be fun to watch all the teams continue to battle over the next few years. I still believe, on any given night, anything can happen!

Bradley was a 4 year starter at Boone County. I believe she was Regional MVP as a freshman.

That was a joke. I know she has been at Highlands.

Is Cutter a transfer??

The majority of the time when a kid's name is mentioned in a public forum, the kid CAN PLAY. There are the rare situations when a kid makes a bad decision, like all of us (kids and adults) do, that their name ends up in a forum like Bluegrasspreps.

As for Moss, she is a Boone County Rebel and I doubt that's going to change. What has happened in the past is irrevelant. Good luck to her.

Simon Kenton did a great job of staying out of foul trouble. That really hurt them in the first meeting between these two teams. Good luck in the 8th region.

Not taking anything away from Simon Kenton. They played well and as always, physical and hustle the entire game.

Ammerman / Clark sick. Brannen knee.

Congrats to SK for the win. Congrats to NDA for an outstanding effort. The Pandas led at half with only 2 starters participating in the game. The reserves really stepped up!!

Beal will continue to develop. It is hard to remember that she is only a freshman.

Very surprising score (IMO). Having seen both teams play last week, Sacred Heart looked much stronger. No offense to Assumption. Once again, you have to love Girl's high school basketball.

There is no doubt that Sandfoss is the engine that makes NCC run. They will really miss her next year.
