I'm not trying to be negative, but I do have a question about soccer being played where? I believe GCHS can have it all, but in these times, with teachers being let go everywhere, it's hard to imagine paying over 1/2 million dollars to play on turf. I know they have funding in different categories and that is ok, I guess.

Exactly, when you are playing a game at night and the lights go out, this has happened a few times and even photographers have complained about the lighting.

How much could they(Board) be spending on the upkeep of the field, when you have parents mowing it, parents painting it, fixing the holes? Approximately how much is spent by the BOE?

I never saw King Kelly Coleman - my father taught him at Wayland but the 15th Region had a set of brothers from Maytown - The Tallent Brothers, Bill played in North CArolina, Bob played at UK - then transfered to George Washington Univ., Mike - went to GWU under his brother Bob and then Pat - probably the best scorer - I saw him scores 75 points in one game could have beaten the "king's" record but didn't. He went on to play at GWU after turning down UK, LSU, UCLA, and others. All four ended up college all americans and have done very well in their fields of study.

I believe we had 3 this past year.

When my oldest son started playing football in high school, I was so upset because I hated football. I grew up on basketball and that's all I thought there was. My high school did not have a football team. My first football game I attended was Prestonsburg vs Russell. I hated every second of it. After 4 years of my oldest son and now 2 more with my youngest son, I really like football. I love watching college games and I really like watching high school football. But as far as my loyalty to Greenup County High School football, I can say this I drove one weekend this year over 600 miles so that I could see my sons game at Letcher County(I'm involved in Boy Scouting) and I wouldn't miss a game for anything. I know I will be going to some games this next year, how many I don't know but I have finally learned to like football(love it a little).

Again, where will the money come from, when the paper said that 4% funding will be cut from the school system, freezing spending, etc.:confused:

How much will this cost and how will GCHS afford this.

How did the JV do against Russell?

I know weight lifting is all year, the coach didn't resign from teaching just from being the head football coach. What I meant was another class will start in January when the new semester starts - this lets the senior boys out of the weight lifting class and take another class. That is all I meant.

Isn't it the end of the 9 weeks and semester, won't the classes change in January.

This coach was an assistant under Ward?

Not all football players - my son played football and he had a different time because of his Honors English Class. But it really doesn't matter - the boys have to want to be in there and give it their all. :thumb:

Who are the starting players on GCHS?

I believe it is scheduled at more than just last period.

This is really needed, I hope this works out for us.

Sorry, but wrong on the athletic department - check out the TD club paid for the cleats, armbands plus sent the coaches 1 time to the Tony Franklin System, plus the shirts & hats just to name a few of the things other than decorate the lockers, and make goody bags and mow the grass.

Which "stuff" are you talking about the coaching position or the cleats, arm bands etc?

I keep hearing all this money flashed around - but who is going to support the daily needs of the team i.e. cleats, arm bands, coaches shirts & hats, etc.? And where is the money coming from for a new position a strength coach and what type of transportation are you talking about? Isn't this a little a head of us right now?

I agree but not only this but be consistent, you can't have rules for certain people and then no rules for others. GCHS had boys that were out all spring, summer and fall and then some boys walked on after fall season started.
