WOW! Here is the latest I have heard from my son who graduated from T:

* The X student who admitted to the racist comments took his twitter massage down but not before a few kids had captured it (and now it is being shared through theoir facebook pages).

* The African-American students who started off in the X student section left that area and sat in a different part of the the gym.

* When T was going to the locker room (right in front of the X student section) there were chants of "Noose!" as well as the "N" word.

Frustration is one thing. A laissez-faire administration in the face of racism is quite another. I am MUCH more proud of the demeanor/disposition of the T faithful relative to the accomplishments on the floor.

Oops - sorry for the misspellings. Though I do wonder what a Twitter massage would be like! hahaha

Congrats T and best of luck in the Sweet Sixteen.

As far as the student sections. I am not going to say I am surprised by some chants that were done but in the big picture ALL of it is uncalled for!! Take the high road and Win with class AND Lose with class!

The Sweet 16 should be interesting.

The Trinity students are being portrayed as angelic in this thread. They were not! Personally, I would like cheering to be relegated to what is going on in the game instead of insults being tossed back and forth by the student sections.

I haven't seen anyone say the T students were angelic. I have seen people say the T administration did a better job of making sure the T students didn't stoop to the low that the St. X students stooped too.

The Trinity students did do a little ribbing. They chanted "Little Brother", "Just like football", "Where's your swim team" and that old reliable "Na Na Na Hey Hey". Sorry, but that stuff isn't even close to what was coming out of X.

My take: Yes, kids will be kids. The difference between a positive cheering section and one that is negative or mean in tone is often a few committed adults who are willing to step in when needed.

If Trinity wins the state in basketball this year I have a prediction. Within 3 years the public and privates will be split and play for separate state titles. Football has been dominated for so long by the privates it has been over looked. With the basketball its a different story. When you have guys like Hicks leaving Shelby County for T thats not going to stand.Im not saying T is the only one, I think Scott Co. is heads and tails above anyone else in recruiting ,Billy Hicks maybe a good as Calapari but that is a public school and it will be tolerated. Just a prediction. I think every kid Lex Cath had on the team,I know all the starters have been in the catholic system since 1st grade and they still get hammered in public for recruiting.

That will never happen, Hammerman. And I hope it never does. And for what it's worth I think Scott County, Trinity and LexCath recruit themselves. It is also a baseless claim about these three schools. How many combined Sweet 16 titles do they have?

Daryl Hicks left Shelby County when Collins was built. He had a choice of Shelby or Collins and chose Trinity and sat out the required year to play at Trinity. Any kid that sacrifices a year of playing to switch schools should not be criticized for his decision to transfer. That's a tremendous sacrifice.

It is hard to single out Trinity just because they are a private school! There are many public schools that are right there with them! Would be very hypocritical!

Private school recruiting is so out of control that of the 100 combined 6th and 7th region titles handed out in the last 50 years, private schools have won five of them.

That is a HOOT! I am guessing 1 each by St. X and DeSales, 2 for Trinity and 1 for Sacred Heart?

7th Region: Trinity 2012, 2004; St. Xavier 1995,1969.

6th Region: Elizabethtown Catholic 1965

Didn't look at the girls side. My guess would be that there are A LOT of girls 7th Region winners between Assumption, Sacred Heart and Mercy; likely many more than the public schools. A natural consequence of all-girls schools caring about girls' sports long before everyone else.

Don't forget about DeSales. Won the 6th region in 1979.

Maybe that is why they didn't get out of the Region this year. :D
