I took this one in and it is the first time I have seen Johnson look like his old self since returning from the injury.

 

Congratulations to Coach Hundley and the Yellowjackets on a second huge regional win. I overheard one Woodford fan say that the team acted like they were supposed to win the game and how Hundley has changed the mindset in Versailles.

 

Greenwell had a big second half and finished with 17.

 

But it was definitely a team effort. The guards handled the Madison Central pressure quite well and none of that will show up on the stat sheet.

 

Can the Jackets knock off Scott Co???

 

Glad others notice this. Not all things a player does for his team showes up in the stats.

I couldn't agree more. They didn't even shake hands. And yes I know Woodford players ran to their student section to celebrate before going to handshake line, but they did same thing against Catholic and Cathilic waited for them to shake hands. I thought it was classless.

Another non-stat line that had a huge impact on the game was Gross's defense on Hawkins. Especially in the first half. Hawkins still had 22 or so but he had to really work for every one of them. And the real little guy for Woodford also played some good defense.

So the 11th doesn't wait until after the final game to announce the all-tourney team?

They announced the regular season region team and coach. The region tournament team will be announced Tuesday at the championship.

Surprised by the behavior, no. Disappointing, yes very much so. Makes you wonder what he is teaching his kids. Had they won Im sure he would have been out there waiting on them to announce his name.

I can understand this both ways. Having coached and lost a few tough games in a one and done format, you are emotionally spent. The last thing you want to do is get an individual award. You really want to get to the locker room and console your team. I blame the regional tournament leaders for doing this at this time. Feldhaus and the players will be proud of their accomplishments after the emotion wears off and may regret their not appearing. But I can understand why it happened. I don't think class has anything to do with it and I don't know the coach or players at all.

Coach Feldhaus is a class act. I know this for a fact because my youngest son played for him for four years. He is a big part in the success my son had on the court in college and in the classroom. I know he made a special trip from Bowling Green, where his wife had the cheerleading team in a competition, all the way to Barbourville on my son's senior night at Union College. So that doesn't sound like a classless man to me.

 

He still keeps up with him till this day. Whenever they go to Bowling Green they make a point to contact him in some way. My son's wife jokes with me that whenever the Feldhaus' are in town Chris spends more time with them than her.

 

So those who just see his demeanor on the court don't know the true Allen Feldhaus, Jr.

 

The whole family is one class act. Willie and Deron also keep up with my son. I don't see the brothers as much any more but when I do they ask how my son is doing.

 

They all get much respect from me and my family.

The Player/Coach of the year announcement was not done very well. They did sort of a "double announcement" and the players from Madison Central and Woodford did come out for the recognition.......Coach Feldhaus was nowhere to be seen though!!!

 

Taking his players and staff directly to the locker room without shaking hands after the game was shameful!!!!!!!! I did see one Madison Central player go and shake hands with Woodford County. Did not get his number, but great sportmanship on his part.

Nobody is debating whether it should be done. The fact is that it is done. And Madison Central should have participated.

 

The player that did stay around to shake hands was #20 (I think that is O'Brien).

The point here is that Coach Feldhaus has done the "hand shake" after all the games this season.........gets beat at a game they were favored to win and walks straight to the locker room. This is not setting a good example for the student athletes!!!

 

Needless to say, I think the after game handshake demonstrates both character and sportsmanship. In life after basketball (i.e. the "real business world") most face to face deals are closed with a handshake after tough negotiations. Might as well get used to it!
